"I can move Emmanuelle to him anytime. And if you want to protect Rob, that would be fine. I have Abbey moved into Khaat's room with her bodyguard--my man, Brian. I don't want Rob or Khaat there when you send her to Azkaban either one. Just be prepared. I know their mother Charlotte. She does believe that money buys everything and will undoubtedly believe she can bail her out of Azkaban with some outrageous sum of cash. I would be sorely disappointed if that happened, just as I am quite sure you would.

"You're welcome to see Khaat. I can bring her around, but be aware, she does not know yet that Rob is still alive. She's been unconsious since she donated almost all of her life energies to him. It might help her to see you, to know that things are indeed under control. You're right. She will be afraid. " He wrapped his leg and removed the numbing spell so that Matt could walk. Instead he replaced it with a pain spell. He handed him a bottle of pain potion, in case Matt needed it. "When would you like to see Khaat? And then I presume you want to see Rob?"

Matt nodded and stood up, he put weight on his leg, it was alright...ish. "There will be no bail at all," he told him. "Lifetime sentence, no bail, no trial. She went too far, she made it personal." he said angrily. "They won't be there then. As soon as I'm finished, it's straight to Azkaban." he added. "Abbey, how is she doing?" he asked him. "I hope Khaat doesn't lose her, she might not be able to take it. Especially if she doesn't know Rob is alive.." he said.

He took the potion and pocketed it, he would probably need that later. How come he always had an apt for hurting his leg. How come he always had an apt for hurting himself in the stupidest ways possible. "I wouldn't mind seeing her now, thanks Robert. I think I'll wait a little while to see Rob, I'm not so happy with him right now," he told him moving towards the door. "Robert, I'll see what I can do with security...even if I have to do it myself!"

"I'm not happy with him either, actually, but he didn't deserve anything like this, no matter what else he's done. I'll go with you, at least long enough to wake Khaat," Robert said, "Let's go and let her know that Rob is still alive. Abbey, so far, is just fine. The bodyguard I left her is also a trained healer, so Khaat and Abbey are in good hands for the moment." He led the way downstairs to Khaat's room.

Robert led the way inside, and said to Brian, "Give us just a moment, please."

"Of course, Robert," Brian said, rising immediately and leaving. Robert went over the the incubator first. He checked on Abbey. She made him smile. She warmed his heart just looking at her. Tiny as she was, she was just a gorgeous baby--already. He checked her and found the tiny sleeping baby was just fine.

Robert looked at Khaat, not liking how gray and pale she had become. She had given too much. Between giving so much of her life energies to Abbey, delivering her, and then giving the entire rest of it Rob to save his life. It had nearly cost it all for her. She was still motionless. Robert laid his hands on her forehead and used an energy spell to give her enough of his mighty strength to wake. She woke slowly and saw her father there first. "Daddy," she said softly, overwhelmed.

"Stop. Stop and listen," Robert said softly and slowly, "Matt is here with me. Its all okay. Abbey is fine. I just checked on her She' s alright. She is safe here in her incubator right here with you and Brian. Brian isn't going to leave you for a minute. Khaat-- Rob is alive. I took him to surgery, I removed all the bullets, stopped the bleeding, and set healing spells in place. I have him under a strong sleep spell so he can rest, and I have him hidden. I have him well protected, too. He's sleeping--he needs rest. He's going to be alright. It might take a bit, but he's going to be okay. "

She frowned, trying to take it all in. The last she remembered, she was sending her life energies directly into Rob's heart to keep it beating while he bled out all over the hospital floor faster than she could control it. He had been dying. Nearly had bled to death in seconds. She looked at Matt. "It was Jen," she said. "I saw her. I..I hurled her into the wall with an energy blast. I remember I wanted to kill her, but...I wasn't strong enough. It didn't begin to even hurt her." She was also sensing very quickly how dangerous this had been. Her brain wasn't so muddled that she could not think. It was all adding up fast. She and Rob were both patients here, and Abbey had very, very nearly not had either parent today She looked at Matt. "Matt--if anything happens to Rob and me, please. Promise me you'll take care of Abbey. I need to know she'll be okay. I want you for her godfather. Nobody else. Promise me."

There was this numb feeling he always got after he’d been shot. Rob had long suspected it was something they put in the gunpowder of Jen’s bullets but he wasn’t sure. He’d been drifting in and out of consciousness for the better part of an hour but the consciousness seemed to be sticking now. He cracked open an eye and groaned. They couldn’t have gotten low lights or something could they? It had to be high voltage. Rob made to pull the blankets over his head but his movement was incredibly restricted and it hurt like hell. He closed his eyes and felt a hand on top of his own. He cracked an eye open and saw the young healer, Phaedra, looking down at him. He smiled a little and she returned it a little sadly. “Knew you’d come back, love.” He chuckled before starting to cough. She frowned and he blinked a few times, letting his eyes get used to the overbearing light. “You’ll get wrinkles if you frown too much.” He pointed out. She blushed and he had the audacity to smirk a little.

He looked around, wondering where his daughter was. But she was in a completely different ward so he wasn’t sure why he expected her to be there. It was probably the excess of potion still blurring his mind a little. For the most part he felt fine though, he just ached. He could remember Jen and the gun but that was about it. He could piece the rest together. He moved his head a little and looked around. No Jen either. He frowned and laid his head back down on the pillow. He was tired, shattered even. He wanted to know if Khaat was okay. She was probably ripping her hair out or something like that. He was just glad his daughter was blissfully ignorant. “I don’t know how you broke out of Robert’s spell.” Phaedra said, picking up his chart. “But you seem okay now. I’ll get you some water in a minute.” Rob nodded. He needn’t say anymore. But then he changed his mind. “Khaat?” he asked. Phaedra shrugged and smiled sheepishly. Rob sighed. He just wanted to know if she was okay.

Robert had decided to leave Khaat and Matt to talk. He left them and went to check on Rob, knowing Khaat and Abbey were well in hand for the moment. When he arrived at Rob's room and saw that he was awake, he instantly picked up on more accidental magic from Abbey. He sighed, a bit frustrated. He rarely ever put a block on the accidental magic an infant could cause, but he was seriously thinking about making an exception in this case.

"It seems your daughter's accidental magic is working a bit overtime," Robert said, "She wasn't supposed to wake you up. At least not yet. So, how are you feeling? You've been through quite a difficult time in the last few hours. Quite a lot more than I'm sure you'll remember."

He checked Rob while he talked. Rob seemed to actually be doing better than he thought he would be doing at this point. He was a bit surprised, but rather pleased to find Rob was more resistant than he had first thought. "You're doing well, all things considered."

Accidental Magic? Rob’s eyebrows rose to his hairline and he smiled a little. He didn’t know if he caused this much trouble when he was just a babe in arms but he certainly knew most of his cousins had. Their magic would be dotting all over the place. Miami used to favour turning the Healers’ hair bright pink. He was just impressed that she could thwart her grandfather even at what – 12 hours old? They would get on brilliantly no doubt. She was definitely on his mind now. Jenifer was forgotten for at least the moment. She could handle herself until she ended up in Azkaban. She’d broken into prisons before and definitely broken out but Azkaban was a fortress and she was no Animagus. There was no way she was getting out unless she blew a wall up which was highly probable. Her magic would probably be rendered useless though while inside there. No, she’d definitely fall off of the edge of sanity as soon as the cell doors shut. Rob could imagine it all from the point she get chucked in to the different phases she’d go through. He shuddered and bit back a groan as his joints complained. Charlotte was gonna go through the roof.

“Can I see her?” he asked hopefully, deciding to put his energies into something more positive. He could worry about Jen and her current state of mind later but right now he wanted to bond with his little girl for a bit. He didn’t care if all of his limbs broke off and fell on the floor as long as he could see her. Hopefully Robert would put them back on as well, though. Currently he didn’t care if he had some kind of muscle impairment or whatever. He felt fine, he just ached a little. But he wanted to see his little girl. He just hoped he she wasn’t going to go all puppy on him again. Phaedra had already decided that it was both shock from that and the potions reacting inside of him that caused him to black out. “Pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!” he begged despite his hoarse voice. “Please, please, please, pl-” He coughed a little and Phaedra handed him a glass of water. She put the straw to his mouth and he sucked some of the liquid through it. He glanced up at her. “No lemonade?” she frowned and left the room. He smirked and looked at Robert. “Abbey, please!” he ordered cheerfully with a shit-eating grin on his face.

Rob refrained from shouting after his father-in-law because he knew he wouldn’t have been able to manage it anyway. He smiled at the incubator as it floated through the door. He had to admit, it looked like an alien mother ship or something equally odd. Abbey was perfect and thankfully asleep. He didn’t think he could handle another puppy episode because his poor, fragile heart would probably stop beating out of shock. He smiled down at the little girl who was resting on his arm and he glanced back up at Robert. “I could honestly care less about my state of health, Robert. It’s really not important.” He knew Robert probably thought he was being selfish because it would be detrimental to Khaat or whatever but as long as she was happy and healthy he didn’t care whether his head got blown off. Well he did but Robert would probably be there to stick it back on. He’d live. He wasn’t someone that you could just kill off. He was fickle that way but then Jen was the same.

He lifted his other arm and played with the little mop of light hair on top of her head. He absent mindedly began to flick it back and forth, pushing it up and down again. He had a content smile on his face and Abbey seemed happy enough although she’d probably wake up and try and bat him away like she’d done to Phaedra when the woman was teasing her. Rob touched her nose with the tip of his index finger and she wrinkled it in sleep. Her smiled a little and went back to playing with the hair on her head. “What’s new then?” he yawned. “How long have I been out? Hold on, where am I? Where’s Jen? Actually, first off, let’s do a head check.” He mentally counted Abbey, himself, Phaedra was returning with his lemonade, the ‘man prick’ was in front of him – where was Khaat? And wasn’t Matt around for a bit? “Where’s Khaat first of all then I want to know where Matt is because I’m pretty sure he was kicking around. Ooh! And mum...where’s she? Still outside? How about Chris? David? Pete? That bird Pete was with? The Five women that do my bidding?” he was mentally listing off everyone he knew. “Who’ve I missed?” Abbey made a noise of protest and he rested his hand gently on her back, smoothing the soft skin with his fingers. “I didn’t forget you.” He murmured, chuckling a little.

"Rob," Robert said very gently, "You have to understand, as I am quite sure you do already, that when Jen did what she did here at St. Mungos, she took all control of what happens now completely out of anyone's hands but Matt Lestrange's. Both our agencies work together--always have. None of us can excuse that because Jen is family. What she did was attempted murder by Wizarding and muggle law both. What happens outside of the eyes of the law is between you and her, but when she did this here, in this facility, she made herself the top of the Ministry's Most Wanted list. She will be arrested, and there is not a thing any of us can do about it. You and Khaat and Abbey are under Ministry protection until you can protect yourselves. For now, you are hidden in the most secure place we had--for protection reasons. We had no choice. We have you in the Psych Ward so no one can apparate in or out. I am quite sure that you will rebound quite quickly and you won't have to be in this ward. I am very sure it will be more temporary than anyone first thought.

"Khaat is in her room resting. She's had a 'small downturn,' but we're on it. She's going to be fine. The best thing for her right now is rest. She is never alone. She and Abbey have a bodyguard right now, so they're perfectly safe. I left Matt with Khaat just a short while ago, if that answers that much. As far as your visitors go, I haven't a bloody clue, honestly. I apologize that I can't answer that, but they won't be getting in here. You can see them when you're ready for a different room, and that's not entirely up to me. Part of that is now up to Matt Lestrange as well. I do know how much you don't like to be out of control, but right now, there's nothing either of us can do about that. Blame your sister for a poor sense of timing on when and where she decided to fire that gun. Personally, I don't care how frustrated she was with you--I don't have to like what she did. And I don't. You'll be able to get some of your own decision making back as soon as I can give it to you. Well, as soon as Matt and I can give it to you.

"Right now, I would prefer you concentrate on getting better. Abbey's care may well fall more on you for a couple of weeks after her discharge than Khaat. It won't be what she wants, but she's not getting her way either, and she runs the bloody place."

The information was a little difficult to process. His sister was going to go to Azkaban, which much had been confirmed but he wasn’t sure how he could convince Robert to tell Matt just to leave her. She’d already be bouncing around like an animal trapped in a small cage. He hoped that maybe she’d finally gotten a conscience and felt sorry for what she’d done but that was cruel. He knew she didn’t mean it. If she had he wouldn’t be breathing, he wouldn’t feel the warmth of Abbey against his arm and chest. She’d stopped, she hadn’t killed him. She’d had plenty of time to do so. She hadn’t shot to kill him, just teach him a lesson. So in retrospect she really hadn’t attempted to murder him but that obviously wasn’t viewed that way by anyone. Rob exhaled and grinned impishly. “The Psyche ward eh? Right where you want me I expect.” He joked. Rob chuckled a little before shaking his head. “She’s shot me before, granted not as much as she did but if she wanted me dead she would have done it once in the heart. Easy for her, she never misses. I know where she got me Robert, she didn’t try to kill me, I’m telling you. She’s my sister...You’re all worried about me and yet I’m more of a criminal than she is.”

“I don’t care what you have to do just get her well again.” He murmured, glancing down at Abbey who was out for the count. He smiled and smoothed the little bit of hair down again before looking back up at Robert. “So I’m a medical prisoner for a while then? Can I have Phae as my mini slave or can I have roller skates and crutches with wheels on them? Probably a health and safety hazard but I will go stir crazy here even with little miss.... well, sleepy.” He shrugged a little and frowned. “I’m not saying you do but she’s still my sister. I know her, she’s not like that. She... I don’t know. Is complicated I suppose but she’s hard to explain anyway. However, I am more interested in what you can do in a hospital. I can take care of Abbey, that’s fine and pretty simple until she needs feeding or whatever then Phaedra can take the reins.” He laughed, that familiar dog-like bark and Abbey stirred a little. He put a hand on her back and smiled. “I kid but seriously, I will get bored easily. Wait, where’s Eli? He can entertain me!” he then remembered Elijah was at school. “Oh, school, right.” He grinned. “Do you think you could Floo my mum?” he asked softly. “I don’t think she properly got to see Abbey in the first place.”

"Believe me, this is not where I want you," Robert laughed. "What I want is for you to be well and able to take care of your family. Rob, when you were shot, Khaat knew instantly. That bond of yours told her immediately that something was drastically wrong. I know you don't remember much, but she lost a lot of life energies having Abbey. Then when you were shot, she apparated right to you and purposely gave you almost every spark of life energy she had left. It was her free choice. You can gripe at her later for that. When your griping won't kill her, feel free.

"However, if she hadn't, you honestly would have died before we could have helped you, regardless of what Jen intended. To be honest, I am proud of Khaat for doing what she did. I will not lose my daughter--I promise you. But she is a lot farther away from being well than she was before all this happened. Her bodyguard is also a healer. I do not want her without a healer or a bodyguard around the clock for awhile, and the man that is with her is one I would trust with my own life, let alone my only chlid's.

"When you're up to it, she would really perk up if she could see you. That would help her turn things around quite a lot, I believe. And, believe me, I need her to move out of being critically ill just as soon as possible. The longer she's in that state, the harder it will be for us to get her back. And as far as I'm concerned, if you can rollerskate or skateboard or magically race your bed down the hallway from here to there and back, I really don't care. I can look the other way to a certain extent. Hell, I might even help you do it. And, yes, you can have Phae for awhile yet, but not around the clock. I do have to take care of my staff and not burn them out.

"Your mother might be a different story. I don't know if she even knows what has happened to you yet. Yes, I know she deserves that, but when she finds out where you are and what has actually happened, she'll blow a gasket that will blow a hole clear through my roof and most likely blow out all the windows in the building. Not that she doesn't deserve to do that, given the circumstances, but she isn't going to like one moment of this. Besides that, I would really like to keep my roof and my windows. Do you have the slightest idea how I keep Charlotte from losing control completely if she is still here? If I can explain this to her without her losing her mind and damaging property, I'll bring her up here for a very short visit. Deal?

"Oh, and so you know, I know Jen would have killed you instantly, too, if that was what she intended, but she did make a very critical error of judgement, and I am not in any position to help her. Neither is Matt right now for that matter. He has to follow through in processing the letter of the law. And for right now, he does not need to know that at least a part of Jen's motivations for what she did was her anger at you for overdosing on your own illegal potions. That doesn't help her defense, does not excuse her behavior, and does not make it right. In the end, it does nothing. If Jen reveals that herself, then we will have a whole new set of problems, but the information won't come from me. And I am equally positive it won't come from Khaat. Perhaps you and I can think of a way to help Jen, but I doubt that will be today. Right now, my priorities are you three--you, Abbey, and Khaat. And neither you nor Khaat are up to solving anyone's issues but your own. "
