What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Dragon Hunting Empty Dragon Hunting

Post by Sterling Silver Tue Jul 13, 2010 4:42 pm

Sterling stared longingly at the outskirts of the forests. He could practically hear the roars, bumps and rustles of the magical creatures bustling within the forest's bounds. His stomach knotted with terror and anticipation.

He stood there, still; planning and waiting. He was waiting for Andrew, Miseria, and Brienne--who had all sent him owls expressing their desire to come. A chill of excitement rushed down his spine as he drew his wand, tapping it absently on his thigh.

[[OUT OF CHARACTHER-- Jack, you can start roleplaying as soon as you want. You can write about the dragons' daily life or something beforehand.]]

Dragon Hunting Empty Re: Dragon Hunting

Post by Andrew Thompson Tue Jul 13, 2010 4:51 pm

Andrew apperated to the forest of Dean, wearing a gray jacket, white T-shirt, blue jeans, and his regular black and white shoes, which had a small crimson stain on it. he had recieved an owl, inviting him to go and hunt a dragon, which he immediatly jumped at the thought. His brother and his friend, now his friend, had killed a dragon before, and wanted to live up to the standard as well. He ran to the spot where his GPS on his phone had told him where this man was and he sprinted a little faster. He stopped behind a man, whom he considered to be Sterling, the one who sent the letter.

"You Sterling?" he asked, crossing his arms to his chest. He looked behind Sterling and saw just a plain field with only a few bushes and trees. "Where's the dragon?" he asked starting to feel a little skeptic about the hunt. Maybe it was all just some kind of joke and everyone he knew would jump out and yell 'Surprise!' and say it was a party or prank.

Dragon Hunting Empty Re: Dragon Hunting

Post by Miseria Lupin Tue Jul 13, 2010 5:01 pm

It seemed to Miseria that the Forest of dean has became quicly the place where lot's of strange, but interesting things happen. The last time they found an egg here, and now they will go dragon hunting. Interesting indeed.
It didn't take long for her to walk over there, and then find the others. By that she meant Sterling, and Andrew, who she didn't knew actually to be coming, but she wasn't surprised to see him here. He was a gryffindor, an epic one actually, after all. She smiled to both of them, and greeted them in a quiet voice.

As for her clothes, she was still wearing her black jeans, only without any of the heavy chains, and instead of combat boots, she had usual sneakers, and a black t-shirt. Her wand was in her pocket, visible, and right in place where she could take it in any moment if nessesary.
“Who else is coming?“ she asked, looking at the ravenclaw student who's plan it was to fight a dragon.

Dragon Hunting Empty Re: Dragon Hunting

Post by Jaquellene Jack Dyllan Tue Jul 13, 2010 5:02 pm

The dragon perched in a cave on a small cliff, looking out into the sunshine. He blinked once, twice, and then stretched out his neck and his wings, scraping the walls of the cave. He blinked again, his snake like tongue sliding across his long, world-reknown teeth. He knew the fear his teeth struck in all creature, not only for their size and ferocity, but for the poison that lay inside.

Such was the life of the Peruvian Vipertooth. He had flown here for the summer after being beaten out of his homeland, and luckily, this forest was warm enough and so swollen with life, that so far, he had been able to thrive in it. His belly was full, his talons sharp, and his eyes were bright. It was all good.

He slunk out of the cave and stood at the edge of the cliff, his paws on the overhang. He looked about, his breathing steady. Something flicked into his vision a ways off. Deer. He had been used to cows and goats before, but was becoming accustomed to the lovely taste of venison. He pushed off the cliff, his wings unfurling and he dove towards the spot.

He came down on the deer, pressing it into the ground with one paw as he landed, making the earth tremble around him. He carefully lowered his head and sniffed the deer, but there was no need. It was dead, killed by the force of the dragon pinning him. The dragon gently removed his paw and ripped into the deer, eating it in two bites.

He licked a trickle of blood from his lip and he breathed in. He could smell nearby water. He walked forward, towards the smell, and soon arrived at a brook. He lowered his head to the water, breathing it in. He snorted and then began to lap up the water, much in the way a cat would, completely at ease.

OoC: Here is info on the vipertooth, and here is how I imagine him to look.

Dragon Hunting Empty Re: Dragon Hunting

Post by Brienne Ravenquist Tue Jul 13, 2010 5:48 pm

Brienne emerged with her wand and nothing else besides her clothes, which were an olive T-shirt and cargo pants.

"I want to get in the last shot, guys. I'm eager to be the killer."

Bloodthirsty as Brienne might be, she knew dragons were dangerous. She didn't care though, she just wanted to kill. Her thirst for blood was a bit uncontrollable, as evidenced by stains on her clothes. She'd follow the others and when it was her time to shine, BAM. She was good at finishing things off, especially when she was a werewolf. Although she wouldn't be a werewolf until a full moon night.

"This is gonna be good!"

Dragon Hunting Empty Re: Dragon Hunting

Post by Sterling Silver Tue Jul 13, 2010 7:09 pm

Sterling smiled as each one approached. "Sorry, I don't know exactly where the dragon is," he said truthfully, "But I know the Forest of Dean is the only European breeding ground of the Peruvian Vipertooth. There should be plenty." Sterling was wearing what he usually did when he went into the forest. Khaki pants with a forest green T-shirt. It wasn't exactly camouflage, but it was better than wearing neon or something of the sort. He drew his wand and pointed at the side entrance to the forest he had chosen. There was no trail in sight, besides a rugged dear trail. The muggles never came to this part of the forest.

The reason he had chosen that particular entrance, was there was a long track of crashed and broken trees leading off to cliffs in the distance. "I made a simple anti-poison before I came out here, but do try not to get bitten... their fangs are poisonous." He informed them. Sterling didn't know how much his fellow students knew about dragons, and didn't want to leave them in the dark just in case. "They also enjoy human flesh, so keep your distance. We should try to ambush it by some water... stay in the trees and mask your scent. Try shooting spells that are invisible, because you don't want to know where it's coming from. This particular breed of dragons is rather small, so it shouldn't be too big of a problem in that respect. Use the Conjunctivitus Curse first to take out its visual. After that, we'll have to wound its nose so it can no longer smell us. Does anybody here know any severance curses for the throat? I can use Diffindo, but I don't really know anything about Sectumsempra."

He finally finished his speech and peered around at those looking at him. "Any questions or comments? I'm not a dragon hunting expert, so if anybody knows anything else useful it would be nice to know." he said, looking around hopefully.

Dragon Hunting Empty Re: Dragon Hunting

Post by Brienne Ravenquist Tue Jul 13, 2010 7:14 pm

"I know a powerful Sectumsempra, I can slash the dragon's throat to kill him after you guys incapacitate him" Brienne said.

"Dragons can be incapacitated by disabling their wings and legs, which can be done by binding or cutting them up. The fangs can also be broken off with caution by spells."

Brienne was eager to slash some dragon throat, again jumping up and down slightly. Her wand was held tightly by her hands, and she wouldn't let go of it until she'd need to.

"After the dragon's dead, the skin will be tough to remove. Especially after rigor mortis sets in."

Dragon Hunting Empty Re: Dragon Hunting

Post by Jaquellene Jack Dyllan Tue Jul 13, 2010 7:16 pm

The dragon burbled a little, the dragon equivalent of a bur after a fairly satisfying meal, and lowered his head again. However, he was starting to realize just how small the deer had been, because his stomach was beginning to churn. He would need more meat today if he wanted to be full.

Suddenly, a foreign scent wafted into his nose. His entire body tensed and he raised his magnificent head, keen eyes straining through the forest. He could not tell what it was, because the scent was so faint. But he could tell it wither meant danger or prey; or perhaps a bit of both. A shiver went across his body, but once it passed he lowered his head once more.

((Just letting you guys know, some of the admins have been concerned about the use of Sectumsempra. Just remember that it is an extremely dark spell, appropriate for dragon killing, but make sure it tallies with your character too))

[Yeah Bri dont use it. It's meant to try and kill something, and your character is not evil.]

"Brienne, don't use dark magic, Only as a last resort, understand?" he said nearly glaring. His friends had almost been killed by Sectumsempra, and didn't want to see his own followers use it as well. Besides, killing a dragon might not be as tough as everyone thought. If they could get one good rock to hit it on top of the head, it could incapacitate it, then they could use a sharp object to bludgeon afterwards. Who knows? He grabbed the Siren from his belt line and then looked at it. Maybe a distraction could work he thought. He then grabbed his wand with his left hand and gripped the Siren in his right. "So let's just confuse it, and I'll get in close enough to shoot it in the eye."

Dragon Hunting Empty Re: Dragon Hunting

Post by Miseria Lupin Tue Jul 13, 2010 7:22 pm

Miseria raised her eyebrows, and she looked into the forest, sighing quietly. So she wrote down into a contract where she could just die?

Cool!
Idiot.

Then she looked back at Sterling who informed them a bit, but then added that he doesn't know much about the Sectumsempra, so it was her turn to tell a little bit as it was one of her favourite spells. “Sectumsempra is actually causing wounds, deep ones, and isn't really easy to heal, but I know the exact spell what should do. It's actually one dark spell, which I think, can be called as a curse as it's making a deep pain,“ she said actually with non notable voice. She was already used to it.

“So... when shall we go?“ she asked with a slight smile on her pale face.
