Basic Lesson 1st

Because his disarming charm was THAT powerful. It often hurled people through the air at speed! Walls were frequently reduced to rubble from the force of its effects!

Was it just him or were Hogwarts professors losing that tenuous grip they had on reality?

"I can see that," he agreed. Because I have eyes.

So many smart remarks, so much opportunity for lost points. That and, though he'd never admit it, Delacour was scary. If it had been Mr "Call Me Matt" Lestrange, the remainder of that sentence would never have gone unsaid.

"When you're ready?" he prompted, not keen on disarming an un-ready defense teacher.

Gabrielle looked at Selwyn who was probably nervous or at least it was what she thought. "Just don't stand by the window." she said rising her wand and pointing it at Selwyn. "Expelliarmus!" she said loud and clear as she cleared her throat.

You what now?

Wasn't this supposed to be Selwyn's time to shine? He was the superamazing duellist. He was the one with a shiny trophy. Okay, he didn't actually have a trophy. He had goblet stolen from the great hall that he'd engraved with a firestarter charm. Point is, he was more than qualified to demonstrate a disarming charm.

So when his wand flipped out of his hand, he was completely unprepared. But he was even more unprepared for the extra force that pushed him backwards a couple of steps along with it.

Jumping over the pillows to retrieve his wand, Selwyn congratulated the professor.

"That was good. How do you do that pushing thing? I've never encountered that before."

Gabrielle caught his wand that flew into air after pushing him backwards. "That was good Mister Thorfin.10 points for Slytherin." Gabrielle said helping him to get up. "When you learn it properly pushing backwards will come by itself/" she said looking at others. "Now make pairs and practise it,but throw it JUST ONCE!" she said putting accent on just once.

Abbey looked around and spotted Elv. She walked up to her and said, "Hey Elv, do you want to be my partner?"

Elv saw Abbey ran to her. "Abbey... Please be my partner..." she said at the same time with Abbey. She laughed. "Deal, then..."

Abbey laughed, and then walked with Elv over to a corner of the room where they wouldn't be disturbed. Abbey had been okay at DADA, and already knew Expelliarmus, so she was pretty sure she would be able to do it well. "Do you want to go first? Or should I?" Abbey asked, pulling out her wand.

There she was...odd girl out. She had an unusually tought look as she stood in the corner of the class room. She had a sheath at her left side, the brown leather of a hilt and gleam of a metal guard could be seen.

She had never been the best at magic. Her first wand had literally exploded her first year. It had been in this very class room...trying to learn some simple spells. Her confidence in her magical abilities had been destoryed after several self inflicted injuries over the last four years. She had just decided wand magic was not her thing, and if those were not she would one day fine some that were.

She stood alone in the class. She had never been popular...muggle born and all. She had grown use to being the last picked for class projects. It was just her life. It would one day fuel her resolve...the need to prove herself as the only sword weilding witch.

Hello Abbey..nice to see you again.

She always seemed to choak up when talking to girls. It was odd as all the others only got that way around boys. It was just another way she was weird.

Gabrielle didn't remember seing the girl before now. "Good morning what's your name?And which year are you?" Gabrielle asked looking through the student list not finding who the girl was.

She turns her unique eyes onto the teacher. The right one was a bright blue...the left a deep green. They both held a sadness in them that was a bit unexplainable. The brown curls in her eyes were moved out of the way as she tilted her head to the left just a bit. Her lips curl into a small smile as she straightens up. During her last summer she had visited japan for the first time and had fallen in love with the culture. She had been trying to mix it in with her traditional Irish up bringing.

She lowered her head slightly to the class teacher...

"Hello. My name...is Skye. I am a fifth year. I...just got placed into your class...I have the paperwork here..."

She felt very awesome as she flips her wrist to sling the papers from where they had rested in her sleaves. She hands the papers to the teacher.
