Lesson 3 BASIC Empty Lesson 3 BASIC

Post by Caelani Bittel Sun Nov 07, 2010 11:20 pm

If you have not read about the new lesson format, do it now
------

It was another week and Caelani was still teaching care of magical creatures for Elldir. Good thing she hadn't gone into business with him, if he was this unreliable.

As ever, the students slowly made their way toward Hagrid's shack, where Caelani waited to meet them. Small, excited yipping noises emitted from behind the shed, though the students wouldn't be able to see what was back there, yet.

"Any more pets for me to confiscate today?" she asked James once they were assembled. "Your little kitty really would have been in trouble today, for we're studying crups."

With this announcement, Caelani led them around the corner of the house to where the crups were penned up. They could already smell the students and were jumping up and down and sometimes on top of each other in an attempt to get out of their enclosure.

"As you can see, crups are very energetic creatures. Each of these crups needs to be taken for a walk, which of course, will be your job."

A motion of Caelani's wand slammed open the hut's back door.

"Inside you'll find harnesses and leads. Make sure your crup is secure in it's harness before you take it out of the enclosure, as they are very difficult to catch."

"Once you've taken your crup for a walk, you can come back here and watch what happens when a crup picks up the scent of a muggle."

Caelani watched the students follow her instructions, and occasionally helped someone who was having difficulty getting their crup into the harness, until finally, she was left alone.

However the reprieve didn't last long. Either the crups got tired awfully quickly, or the students had a morbid interest in what would happen when they got the scent of a muggle.

Of course, muggles couldn't get near Hogwarts, but that wasn't an issue for Caelani. She'd been busy in the time the children had been away. On the far side of the crup enclosure was a straw dummy vaguely shaped like a human.

"Is everyone back?" She asked pointlessly.

"To simulate what would happen if your crups got too near a muggle, we're going to use this dummy. Right now, it just smells like straw, and of course, you can see the crups aren't very interested in it," she stated, just as one crup sniffed at the base of it and wandered away.

"In this vial, however, is a potion that Professor Doyle has provided for us, which mimics the scent of a muggle. Watch."

Caelani unstoppered the vial, causing the crups in the enclosure to surge toward the fence closest to her. No longer excited and playful, though, now they were positively vicious.

"You can already see the difference."

Carefully, she reached over the fence and poured the potion onto the dummy, which only remained intact for a few moments, as the crups' attack soon pulled it apart.

"And that is what happens when a crup gets the scent of a muggle. Class dismissed."

Lesson 3 BASIC Empty Re: Lesson 3 BASIC

Post by Aurora Nye Mon Nov 08, 2010 11:21 pm

It was another day and a bright day at that. A bright day was a good day. Or, at least it was to Aurora. Everytime it was bright and dunny out Aurora always seemed to think the day would be better than it would on average. That means she would do good in all classes then when she didnt have classes she would have alot of fun.

While heading on her way to Hagrid's shack, Aurora saw her teacher and remembered that day she injured her leg. She limped on it most times she walked but she was feeling better at the moment and tried not to be seen by the professor. This professor scared Aurora a little. Of course, Since she was so scared, Aurora wasnt even near excited about Care of Magical Creatures today.

Aurora listened as the teacher talked. Confinscating pets? Why would anyone in their right mind bring a pet to school that wasnt allowed? Then she remembered that Ezra had brought an animal that Hogwarts didn't allow and so did James Blood. Those two had broken the mere rule but it wasn't like she was going to make them mad by telling on them or something. No, She decided that they knew what they were doing and if they got caught that they would just have to face the conciquinces.

Then the teacher mentioned a Crup. Or in Aurora's mind, A wizard bread dog. Aurora loved the fact that Crups were like dogs in many ways. The day she first learned of a Crup was a good day as today was. She had since wanted to have a crup as a pet but she knew that Rodgey wouldnt buy her a Crup or even find one for her. He wasn't the kind of God-Brother to spoil her like other god brothers might be. He was actually more of the go lucky type that just seemed to always have really good days.

When it was finally time to go to where the Crups were penned up, Aurora was a little excited and yet she was also scared. As they aproched the creatures, Aurora began to giggle as they were pretty much all trying to get to the class at once that they were attacking eachother. Aurora just wanted to run up and hug one but she really didnt think that that would be a good idea. She would most likely get in trouble with this teacher just because of the fact that the teacher had already found her in the forbidden forest fighting Xemnas. Now she would probably end up in a bigger situation or maybe even expelled at that.

Aurora listened to the professor and when the professor stopped talking, Aurora's Jaw dropped right open. They were actually going to get to walk the little energetic crups for class today?!?! This made Aurora as excited as ever. Her first time ever seeing a crup for real and she was going to get to put a harness on one and walk it! This was so much for Aurora to have to believe. She was actually going to get to walk a Crup today!! How couldnt this day get any better than this? There was nothing in the world that Aurora could think of that could top this. Nothing.

As soon as she got the imformation that she needed to take the Crup on a walk, Aurora walked into the Hut and walked around until she found the harnesses and leads. She quickly grabbed one that she thought would last a while and chose out one of the smaller crups to take with her. As she had learn from her God-Parents, 'The younger they are, The more energy they have. This was true whatnot. As soon as Aurora began to put the harness on the creature, It was trying to jump up at her. Aurora kept wrestling with the creature until she got the harness on it and smiled. She then attached the lead and said, "Well you're going to be fun to walk with." She really thought she would be able to handle it and she was one of the first 5 to walk around with the dog.

Walking the Crup at first, Was pretty easy for Aurora. But soon after she started walking the creature it began to run as though it was a normal dog chasing a cat. "No!! Slow down!" Aurora had kept screaming over and over again. 'Maybe having a Crup as a pet wouldnt be as good of an idea as i thought it would ' Aurora thought to herself as soon as she got the crup to calm down and stop to rest for a bit. Aurora went over to the crup and patted his head. "good boy." She said to it smiling and breathing heavily. Then she began to walk forward and made a motion with her hand, Telling the creature to walk with her, Slowly. The crup stopped sitting and began to follow Aurora obediently.

After about 20 minutes of walking Aurora was ready to go back with the others. She had enough of her fantasy of taking care of a Crup for the day and just needed to go take a long 3 hour nap. "Come boy." she said to the Crup as she turned around and began to walk the other way. The crup quickly got in front of her and lead the was as though as obediant and loyal as a normal dog. 'good boy' Aurora thought to herself as they headed back to where the others were.

When Aurora got back to the class, Most of the kids were already there and some of them were on their way back. She was actually surprised how tired most of the children were. After a bit of getting calmed down all over again, Aurora knealed down next to the Crup that she had taken for a walk. She used one hand and wrapped it around the creature so it couldnt run away and carefully took it off of its harness and lead then quickly put it back into the pen with the others that had already been put there.

When the Professor had asked if everyone was back aurora was thinking 'well thats the dumbest question someone could ask.' To Aurora, A Professor was supposed to know how to keep track of her whole entire class either that or she was unworty to be a teacher and should be disrespected. But Aurora would never speak of that aloud as other children would for she knew alot of kids got in trouble for doing just that.

Well no duh. Everyone here knows that muggles cant come to hogwarts. That would show Muggles the wizardry we do and that would be breaking one of the wizarding laws. Aurora thought to her self. It wasnt like no one in the whole entire wizarding world who knew about the laws and such knew that the only muggles that could get into the wizarding world are those of Wizard children. That was common sence to alot of wizards why would a professor such as this one bring it up? But it amused Aurora alot to see the professor say such nonsence.

After The professor made the dummy smell like a muggle, Aurora couldnt believe how vicious the creatures got. It scared her to even be in The professor's class especially when she would make creatures like the crup attack some dumb dummy. Why would creatures want to attack Muggles like that? It seemed to Aurora that they were for the use of those who would want to destroy all muggles to where only wizards would rule. That way there wouldnt be any muggles that would get in their way.

When it was finally the end of class, Aurora was both sad and glad. She was sad that she would have to leave the crups and that she would probably never see them again and she was glad because she could go upstairs and relax for about 3 minutes while she waited for the next glass. Aurora quickly walked up to the castle hoping no one would stop her.

Lesson 3 BASIC Empty Re: Lesson 3 BASIC

Ah Care of Magical Creatures, waht a subject. It was certainly one of the more interesting ones, that was for sure, it was good, in the fact that it was such a fun, hands on class.

Sam walked down towards the pasture out the front of the Gamekeeper's cabin, noticing a portion of the class had already arrived. "Morning all," he said tiredly, it'd been a long night last night, he'd have to get a pepperup potion from Madam pomfrey, the winter chill was approaching again, and he wasn't enjoying it at all.

He then chuckled as the professor made a comment about one of the other boy's pets, before his curiosity piqued. "Crups, what on earth are those?" He thought to himself, cocking his head to one side before grinning as he saw them come 'round the corner.

"Awesome!" he exclaimed, wishing the teacher would just spit it out and let them get to the... crups, more like dogs really, but he just wanted to get to them as soon as he could.

When she stopped (Finally) he ran, with the rest of the class, to the hut, seeing the harness and leash and grabbing them, whacking both onto the crup, the biggest one he could see, and running out of the enclosure with it. Walking was for losers, he ran with his. They did a loop or two around the hut, then Sam walked his crup, which he had named Jack, around a little bit, first up to the edge of the forest, then to the lake.

As they neared the lake Jack strained on the leash, and Sam would have been willing to run with him, if it weren't for the sleepless night he'd had. Allowing Jack to strain it got harder and harder to hold on. "Miss," he shouted uncertainly, before he heard a big ripping noise and a crack, and as he was using his full wait to hold jack, he fell back onto his.. back, as he broke free of the harness. "Jack!" he shouted, chasing after the dog.. whoops, crup, crup, i meant crup.

He ran back past the class, Sam followed, he ran into the hut, messing everything up, and sam followed, before falling, literally, out the door following him. He then ran back to the lake, and, just to annoy Sam, into it. Sam sighed and quickly took his cloak and jumper off and dived into the icy cold lake.

"HOLY MOTHER OF" was the begining of what Sam shouted at the top of his lungs, suffice to say it went on several tens of seconds before he finally kicked in and swam out to find Jack. After a few minutes he succeeded and pulled the bugger of a thing out of the lake. He then harnessed him up and began the walk back, shivering all the way, as he'd left his wand back at the class. "I hate dogs," he muttered to himself, before Jack stopped and stuck his nose in the air, sniffing about before growling ferociously and taking off, barking and snarling, and dragging sam behind him, through grass, rocks, mud, dirt, sand, all sorts of fun things, before planting itself right at the professor's shoes. "I like cats," came sam's voice from the ground, as he lay face down in the grass.

Standing up, looking a complete mess, as the wet clothes mixed with... the ground, had caused it all to stick to him. "I'll assume that's what happens when crups detect muggles?" he asked, nodding as he got the answer, and the teacher's dismissal, before walking back to castle.
