And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Nerissa plopped down on the dock which was floating on the water- but yet was
always in one place- almost magically, taking her red-brown hair down to let it ca-
scade down her shoulders and back. It had been a busy day, and it felt good to
finally get to sit down after running from one class to another. Nerissa pulled her
shoes off, one after the other, and then her socks; she was planning on soaking
her feet in the cool lake water for a bit. With a sigh of relief and contentment, Ner-
issa leaned back on her arms and stared up at the sky, which was painted oran-
ge and pink as the sun hid behind the trees to retire for the night.

“I hope many are in the common room tonight,” Nerissa said to herself in a soft,
almost inaudible tone; it would please her greatly if she could fall asleep to the so-
und of soft voices and laughter. Like a lullaby a mother would sing to her children.
A smile formed on Nerissa’s lips; even the thought of it made her feel at peace. The
girl dipped her feet into the water slowly so not to freak her body out with the sud-
den temperature change. It wasn’t as cold as she thought it would be, but it was
cool enough to end the aching, thankfully.

Sitting up a bit straighter, Nerissa looked down into the water, wondering if she co-
uld see past her reflection, which was dancing on the water as a warm wind blew.
She tilted her head to one side before splashing the water a bit with her foot in an
attempt to clear it, but she could still see nothing past the surface. Nerissa had hea-
rd that there were creatures of all sorts living in the black lake, but she hadn’t belie-
ved any of the stories she had been told about them. If there were creatures living
in the waters, then why did children still go swimming there? It didn’t make sense,
because it wasn’t true, Nerissa had decided with a simple nod of her head. That
was one of the many mistakes Nerissa made.

There was a moment of complete silence, and for a moment, even the wind stopped,
even the rippling of the lake water. Nerissa took notice of this, looking about for a mo-
ment. What could have scared the wind away? There was nothing fiercer that she
knew of than the wind. Nerissa shrugged her shoulders, only to yelp moment later;
she could have sworn she felt something slimy wrap itself around her ankle. Nerissa
pulled her feet up out of the water, crawling backwards in an attempt to put as much
space between herself and the lake as possible. She knew she had felt something;
there was no mistaking that sort of thing.

Nerissa stood up, stumbled, and ran, barefoot, off of the dock and into the grass -
which wasn’t much further from the black lake than the dock. She breathed in & out
slowly, trying to steady her heartbeat. “Time to go inside,” she told herself with a no-
d; yes, a bite of something to eat and a little rest by the fire would help calm her. She
blamed it on stress, for it was a logical explanation, and Nerissa enjoyed sticking to
the logical stuff as much as a witch living in an enchanted castle could. She turned
slowly, but she never made it far.

“Help!” she screamed when something wrapped around her waist and pulled her ba-
ckwards at a speed that stole the air from her lungs. She felt the water splash around
her as she was pulled under, but she could do nothing about it, for the grip around her
waist was too strong. Nerissa closed her mouth when water started to rush in only
to find that she had wasted all of her air trying to scream for help when she had be-
en dragged into the black lake.

Aurora walked around for a while until she got to the lake. She noticed someone was there. Even though she should have been far away from the lake she walked towards the girl. Suddenly, the girl was being pulled under the water. Wide eyes, Aurora ran to help the girl. She dived under with her wand at the ready. As soon as she caught site of the creature she used stupefy on it ad grabbed this stranger. She pulled the stranger up and dragged her to the shore. She had learned to help save people while she was in california so she waied to see if the girl was breathing.

The last thing Nerissa had seen before she had passed out due to lack of oxygen, had been glimmering light coming from the sunset above, blurred by the water, as if mocking her; reminding her in a sing-song voice that there was no way of her breaking free from whatever creature that had claimed her as its own. However, the last thing she heard had been a splash, and it had filled her with a warm, hopeful feeling that allowed her ‘sleep’ peacefully, images of sunny days and joyful people filling her mind. Though, she hadn’t a clue if that splash had meant she could still make it out of the mess she was in, it gave her hope. Hope… that was such a risky word.

-

Water rolled off of Nerissa’s skin- which had gone a ghostly shade of pale –as she laid there in the grass that made up the shore of the black lake, no oxygen entering her lungs, no carbon dioxide leaving them either. Her red hair was dripping with water, tangled and covered in dirt from the bottom of the lake, almost making her appear as if she had died. That, couldn’t have been further from the truth; her mind was still operating smoothly. Perhaps a little too smoothly, for her mind had never been filled with so many pleasant thoughts at once, almost causing Nerissa to believe that she had drowned.

Nerissa had known from the start that water was dangerous, only, she hadn’t had the option to prevent danger that time around.

Andrew had been walking along the shore of the lake trying to forget everything that had happened to him in the past few months. It was a lot to take in and knew he would eventually forget it but knew that he would have to face his past sooner or later. Yet the lake was a great place to forget and forgive. He almost forgot. Until he saw the girl. Andrew had walked along the edge until he saw 2 girls on the shore. One was lying on the ground unconcious and the other looking over her. He knew they were in trouble.

"HEY!" he said over his indoor voice and quickly sprinted toward the 2. As soon as he got close to the 2 he immediatly slid on his knees right next to the girl. "Come on, stay with me!" he exclaimed and quickly began to administer CPR. He did everything he had been taught and quickly pushed on her chest one more time. "Breathe dammit, breathe!"

It was like a slap to the face when Nerissa was brought back to earth. For a moment, it had felt as if she…well, it was rather impossible to explain, but it definitely was an experience Nerissa would have very much enjoyed to miss out on- sure, it had been peaceful for a moment, but it hadn’t been pleasant enough to make up for the intense pain she felt in her throat and chest as the salty lake water practically ripped her insides apart. Nerissa gasped when air entered her lungs once more, like a gust of wind, it sent a shiver down her spine, and the shock of it all made her sit up much faster than she should have.

“-elp!” the Ravenclaw screamed, as if her scream from before had been cut off and trapped within her throat and had only just been let free. Her usually soft eyes were filled with terror for a moment as she stared at the two people leaning over her; she hadn’t a clue who either of them were, and yet, she knew she would never be able to thank either one of them enough for- well – saving her life…

Nerissa collapsed when her head spun, falling over to the side, her body currently too fragile to hold her up. She moaned, a soft noise that sounded so pitiful, it almost embarrassed poor Nerissa Hatts; the freaky plant girl who, strangely, had almost gotten herself killed. Yeah, being fragile was just one more thing to add to that always growing list.

Andrew was terrified. He didn't know who she was but he wasn't going to let her die right in front of him. He quickly put his ear to her chest and tried to sense a heartbeat. He then tried to check for a pulse on her wrist. It was very faint. He quickly pulled out his wand and was praying that what he was going to do would work. "Ekipsky!" he said frantically. He had just been introduced to the spell in Charms. He had never been good in charms, but paid extra attention during class in order to use this in real life one day. And right now would've been very helpful. He didn't know what would happen but needed to do something. But what could he do? That's all he knew. He looked around and tried to find someone to help but no one was around. He knew he had to get her to the hospital wing but knew that if she was in shock, should never do that.

It was almost to much for her to handle when yet another sensation washed over her. It was some sort of healing spell, but that was unknown to Nerissa; all she knew was that it felt as if all the damage that had been caused by whatever the hell that creature had been, was being reversed slowly but surely. Nerissa turned her head as a tingling feeling crawled up from her chest and ended at her throat, her eyelids fluttering for a moment. There was too much to feel, too much to think, and much too many things to fear at the time, and It overwhelmed the fourteen-year-old just as much as drowning had in the first place, though she had to admit, the healing spell felt very comforting as it worked the way it had been invented to work.

Don’t trust water- I will never put my feet in water again! I knew it was a dangerous liquid, but obviously I didn’t know well enough, did I? Nerissa’s thoughts swarmed like a cloud of bees; now that she could actually think straight, her mind was attacking her with questions and ‘I told you so’s.

“Owe…” Nerissa croaked. Her soaked, brown hair was hiding most of her face from view, but it was obvious by the tone of her voice that she wasn’t exactly smiling. “ouch, ouch, ouch,” she continued to whimper pathetically. Why did she not use her voice to thank the two strangers right then and there rather than complaining? Well, apparently she wasn't as intelligent as she had thought previously, eh?

Andrew quickly looked down and smiled in relief, his heart finally retreating back to his regular pace. "Oh thank god," he said calmly and looked at her. "Are you alright?" He didn't want to move her just yet as he did not know still if she was in shock. There were easy signs to show but he could not remember them with all the thoughts going through his mind. In the end, he used a hot air charm to dry off the mysterious girl. His hand trembled from the adrenaline that flowed through his blood and tried to keep it steady. He got his breathing steady and finally calmed down.
