Magical Abillities

There are no perfect characters, and no character has infinitely many powers and abilities with unmatched magical potential. At least not on PA that is. That is why, you will have to apply here to use specific abilities! Some of these abilities are canon, while others are made to suit PA.

You don’t have to register for all abilities of course, only special ones. Here are a list of abilities you can use whenever you want as long as you meet the requirements.

NON-SPECIAL ABILITIES

Nonverbal Magic – Nonverbal Magic is taught at Defense against the Dark arts to students at year seven

Occlumency– The ability to prevent someone from reading your mind and controlling your thoughts. Lack of compassion makes for a better Occlumens – Draco, Snape. Occlumency can be learned at any Year 6 or higher by appointment with Headmaster Majere

Apparation – Apparation is the ability to move from one place to another in seconds, sort of like teleporting. Apparation is learnt at sixth year at Hogwarts. All sixth years and above therefore have this ability. Remember,you cannot Apparate at Hogwarts.


The other abilities you have to apply for below. Remember, yellow abilities are up for grabs. Orange are uncommon, while you probably won’t get red unless you provide a good description and it suits your characters personality. For example: A death eater won’t get speak to animals, while a Order member won’t get parseltongue.

LEARNED ABILITIES:

Leglimency – the act of invading somebody’s mind in order to control him/her or read their thoughts. It is considered a dark act and isn’t done by good wizards, it is a difficult art as well and only people who have taken advanced education at Hogwarts are able to do this. (NEWT’s and Graduates)

Wandless Magic – some wizards have mastered the art of magic so well they are able to use magic without their wands. Of course, magic is much harder to use and weaker in power without the wand. This is considered a very difficult ability to learn. (Graduates)

Flying – Possibly the most difficult of abilities to learn, flying is the ability to fly without the use of a broomstick. This is also considered a difficult ability to learn (grads). Flying for even one hour is very difficult.

Animagus – Some wizards are able to transform themselves into an animal. Any wizard can do this, although it is quite difficult to learn.

INHERITED ABILITIES:

Parseltongue – The ability to speak to snakes and therefore command them. This is considered a dark ability.

Speaking to Animals – The ability to speak to creatures (not magical) and communicate and even befriend them.

Metamorphagus – The ability to change appearance at will.

Telekenisis –Some wizards have the ability to move things without using hands or wands. Of course, they can only move small objects.

Seer – Seers can see into the future and predict certain events. There are two types of seers, short term and long term. Short term seers can predict things which will happen in a few days or weeks time, but in a blurry and confused way. Long term seers can see a more vivid image, but are unable to tell what time it will happen. They can also only predict major events.

Name: Sandra Archer
Ability Desired: Occlumency, Legilimency, Nonverbal Magic, Apparation, aaaaaaand Seer.
How your character got this ability:

Nonverbal Magic/Apparation: Learned via Hogwarts

Occlumency/Legilency: Learned after joining the DE's. Sandra wanted to both protect her thoughts from the people around her and pry into theirs. After a few lessons with a more experienced DE, she taught herself. However, because of all the self teaching she isn't actually that good.

Seer: *Cracks knuckles*

Sandra's seer gift manifests itself in a very different way from most people. While other seers usually get flashes and glimpses of images in their mind, or instead say strange, cryptic things while in a creepy trance, Sandra draws.

Whenever she begins to tell the future, Sandra will rush to a paper and pencil (or anything that ca draw actually, while in the woods she sused snow and urine...won't go into detail) in a trance. She has no control over her actions at this point, and while not able to use magic, will hit and shove people in order to get what she needs. She will then draw a specific scene in the near future (usually in a day or so, though there was instance where it happened a few seconds later) once she snaps out of this trance, Sandra is on her own in discovering what it depicts and what it means.

Name: Faelan Welty
Ability Desired: Legilemency, Wandless,
How your character got this ability: Faelan learned Legilimency from a mysterious cloaked figure the figure said that it may serve him well one day. Reacently Faelan has been practicing Legilimency on people who wouldnt expect it. He found it amazing what people think about when they beleive its just them hearing it. (Can you guess who the figure was?)



How your character got this ability: in Faelan's search for dark magic he found a book that described wandless magic. While it wasn't dark he still considered it useful if he lost his wand somehow this would be a great way to defend himself. Faelan had some difficulty with this at first because of the fact humans aren't supposed to use magic in certain ways but after many years of practice he got it to work.

How your character got this ability:

Legilimency:Richard had to learn Legilimency at age of 19 when he was taking an auror course.Though he learnt some basics when he was 7th year of Hogwarts from his mother his abilitty was totally developed after he scored maximum score on his auror course.

Metamorphagus:
Richard came from the very respected Russian line of metamorphagus wizzards and witches.For some unknown reason the abilitty skipped a generation so after his grandparents first one who got the full power of this abilitty was Richard and not his father.He showed the use of this abilitty very early in his childhood though it was difficult to control it at such young age of his life.

When his father died and he moved to Moscow,Russia with his mother and baby brother where he got to spend more time with his grandparents.Slowly as couple of years passed he learnt to control his abilitty being taught very well by his grandma.He doesn't use this abilitty so much besides from time to time for changing his hair color or something not too obvious.His abilitty can project through his emotions though he has almost the absolute control over it.

Ability Desired: seer, talking to animals, wandless magic
How your character got this ability: Katherine inherited the seer's abilities and talking to animals from her mother and grandmother. She learned wandless magic at Hogwarts and became quite good at it while she was a student there.

Katherine grew up on a farm, and found out early that she had some ability to talk to the farm animals when she realized she could communicate with the barn cats, especially when they were hurt or not feeling well. Her parents encouraged her to work on these powers to cultivate them when they saw she had a great deal of accuracy. She began learning her seer's abilities after she fell from the hayloft in the barn, when she was 8 years old, and hit her head. She was unconscious for two days, and when she came conscious, she began having very severe nightmares that were so realistic she would wake screaming. Her mother began keeping a journal of Katherine's nightmares at the recommendation of the family's healer, and they soon realized that Katherine had somehow activated her family's seer tendencies.
