Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Dane was a little taken aback when she said she had a daughter. He tried his best to hide his shock, but was sure he was failing. What if she was married, of course! All the good women are taken! He could be seriously stepping out of HIS boundaries. He had a rule, never try to ask out a woman who was taken. What if she could read his mind? He was running through a whole bunch of bad scenarios in his head. He couldn't focus really, but he tried to drag himself back to earth. "Daughter?" he said, his voice very nervous. "Oh, well....that's nice..." he said.

Why the F*** did I tell him that? Stupid, stupid self. That is probably the worst thing possible that I could have said. Now he's going to think I'm this married woman with some perfect lifestyle. How could I have been so stupid? I mean, really? What do I say now? Really, what can I say? Bugger...

Jemma was speechless for a few seconds, trying to think of what to say. She was coming to a loss. "Err...yeah...she lives there with her husband. Lucky woman." she said, meaning Marie was lucky for having a husband, not living in France. Jemma much preferred England, herself.

His face lightened, she had said lucky woman! Maybe she wasn't taken...he wouldn't show it too much. He might come off too strong. 'So um, do you have a husband?" he asked feeling a little awkward. He had probably blown it right then and there. He had gotten out of the gates, yet he hasn't quite reached the first checkpoint. He looked at her and forced a smile to his face. He didn't know what to do, he could only hope that her answer was what he wanted.

Could this be any more awkward? I think I've created the most awkward thing possible. Still, at least Dane isn't acting all stupid like I am.

Jemma shook her head in response to him. "Nope, never have."

Ok, so I'm hoping that wasn't the worst thing to say. At least he knows I'm single. Yeah. That's good. Despite he'll probably now think I was...well, having a child out of marriage. Would it be awkward to ask him the question in return? I've got nothing else to say. Might as well ask.

"You?" she asked, hoping for the answer she wanted.

"No...never even thought about it..." he said sighing. "But then again...sometimes people change their minds..." he said smiling at her. Alright it was going good, he's turning the conversation around, which is good. Yet he had nothing else to say..not a damn thing. Oh come one Dane! You can think of something to say! You're an expert at improv! He was thinking to himself. "So, any other jobs beside Hogwarts?" he asked her.

Thank Merlin, he changed the subject. He's good at that. Unlike me.

"No, actually, I've always been at Hogwarts." she replied, hesitating slightly before she continued, "Since my mother passed on early I needed a job, it was available and I was always happy there." she explained, trying not to focus too much on her mother. It pained Jemma to remember her.

"What about you?" she returned the question, hoping he would have something more interesting to say than herself, "Have you always been with the Ministry?"

Dane's smile faded when she had said her mother died, his had died not to long ago and he was still feeling the pain. "Oh I'm sorry about your mother, mine passed on not to long ago..." he said hiding his emotions. "Me? Oh no I only joined the Ministry after my father was massacred by a group of Death Eaters..." he said. He had tried to avoid this subject but she had brought it up. He sighed and finished his drink, he then began to twirl his wand. He usually did this when he was thinking...he was thinking something very nice. Something that could make him feel happy...but he didn't know weather to do what he was thinking or not...

[[OOC: Is the VDay dance before or after the battle? Oh and by the VDay dance will Dane know about the mass Order members leaving Hogwarts? Just wondering on what Jemma will say and such.
Oh and Jemma has this thing of pushing her feelings away, btw.]]

Wow, how many awkward subjects can I bring up in one conversation? It's the first time I've met Dane and I've already brought up Marie, marriage, our parents deaths, what else could I say! Seriously. Still, it doesn't feel like we've only met once. It feels...different. In a good way. Special? I'm not sure. I like it tho- Oh no. I like it too much. This isn't good. This really...I shouldn't be thinking like this. Change the subject, Jemma! Just say anything! STOP THINKING!

"I'm sorry to hear that about your parents. That must have been terrible for you." she said, trying to be comforting. And no, I can't put an arm around him. Even if you do that with your other friends, it wouldn't be appropriate at ALL here. "My dad before I began Hogwarts." she added, just because she assumed he would probably be curious, even if he didn't ask.

"So, uhm, onto a lighter topic." Jemma began, rapidly trying to think of a lighter topic to actually talk about. "Back onto music, do you listen to wizarding bands as well as muggle ones?"

OoC:The V-day dance will probably be before as it was started before....and Dane will not know so he might ask.

Dane shook his head, "No, I never really got into wizard music." he said. "I grew up on my father listening to muggle bands. I suppose I kinda..set my mind on muggle bands..." he said looking at his empty glass. He would have to make the move now if he wanted. But he didn't know how or what he'd do....He didn't even know what they would do. He brought a smile to his face when he realized he could think of a topic that nothing could go wrong on. "Jemma, do you by any chance like...muggle theatre?" he asked her.

Jemma didn't know much about wizard music herself, so was a little glad that Dane didn't seem too interested in it as it would have made a very one-sided conversation. Again, he changes the topic. Brilliant. Dane's great like that... Wait, I've only just met him, I can't be thinking like that! I can't!

Jemma pushed her thoughts to the back of her head and tried to focus on muggle theatre, the new topic. "Yes, I do love muggle theatre, actually. I went to a couple shows in London when I was younger, they were amazing." she told Dane. She'd only been a couple of times, when her parents got discounted prices as the shows were awfully expensive. She hadn't been recently due to this reason, either.
