It was the middle of the afternoon just after the last term had ended. Stephen was sitting by the lake for a while then with a book opened over his legs. He leaned forward over it only straightening himself when he wanted to make space to flip to the next page. Once this was done Stephen moved to his previews position: his elbow over his knee while he either place his head on his hand closed in a fist or played absentminded with a lock of his dark wild hair. His eyes wandered once again from the beginning of the page following the lines of words to the bottom. And this over and over again.

Being caught in that new realm of fantasy - for that was not a school book, but a story book he had brought from home the last time he had been there, which was summer. He figured the first year he had came to Hogwarts that one of the perks of being invisible was exactly having a lot of time for himself. Why not use it productively? At least he could imagine he was not alone for a change.

There was times, however, when being alone and invisible were the only way of being. Stephen had gotten used to that fact over the years. But only because no one cared to notice he was there, it didn't mean he didn't. That afternoon for some reason the common room was full and he was not in the mood to go to the library as he always did. Even his room sounded like an awful idea the moment he had stepped inside after returning there from his last class. Knowing he had no homework to the next day then he decided he would find a silent place for him to catch up with his reading. Away from the crowd. Away from the feeling of being just one more.

That was how he had ended up by the lake where he was confined only to his little world.

Ugh... the last of the term, Medusa knew what that meant, people were going to act all crazy and stupid. Medusa didn't want any part of anyone's crazy plans they had, mainly it lead to nothing but trouble, something that Medusa really didn't do. Ok... so she did go on adventures and wonder around the castle, so far her adventures did land her a couple of detentions but she wasn't perfect and she like having fun, what was so bad about that? Besides she wasn't really harming anyone, and rules were meant to be broken right, she obviously thought so but she wasn't a major troublemaker by any means.

Speaking of adventure, Medusa decided to come outside for her many adventures, it was such a nice day why waste it inside? Skipping down the sloping lawns towards the lake, Medusa was too busy in her own adventures to care or notice if anyone happened to be by the lake, not that it mattered anyways half the people ignored her which she didn't mind. Being invisible was something Medusa was good at, and quite honestly she didn't mind it, she didn't get hurt or picked on that way. Medusa didn't have many friends, but who really wanted to be friends with a muggleborn? she has no magic parents and was referred by some purebloods as a mudblood if that saying was even around, she didn't know but she thought it was rude very rude. Where people get these mean words were beyond her, it as worse then being called a poor girl, although she was never called it she heard and read about it.

In her own thoughts and her feet guiding her, Medusa was at the lake before she knew it. Not paying attention to where she was walking, Medusa tripped over a boys feet that was about her age maybe a bit younger. "Oof!" Medusa cried before she landed on the ground as all her drawings and book went flying everywhere. Seeing she tripped over someone she blushed. "Oh my gosh, I... I'm so sorry!"said Medusa gathering up all her drawings and sketch book and book she was reading. Failing to notice she scuffed up her elbow and knew, Medusa gathered up all her stuff in a pile.

Stephen was a bit too focused on a world that wasn't his. So focused he didn't even notice someone was coming his way. He just assumed no one would since that place was rather hidden from the grounds around considering the high bushes that there was between him and the castle.

Therefore, only when he felt his leg being pulled away and a strange force on it he looked up to see that there was a girl kneeling on the hard ground, rather moist from being so close to the lake.

Putting his book aside and setting his leg free from hers he got up and went to where she had dropped everything she was carrying just before and tried to help her gathering everything. "Are you alright?" he had asked her. "No, I am sorry. I was too distracted to notice I was taking more space than I should" he followed to excuse himself.

When she had everything with her he looked up to her for a second. She seemed to be around his age even though he had never noticed her in any class being very possible for her to be from a different year. He couldn't be sure though as he barely met anyone around. Thinking he was looking for too long even if it was just a couple of seconds he got up extending his hand to her. "Here" he said, "let me help you up."

When Medusa was in her own little world she didn't look or pay attention to anything for that matter, which was obvious seeing how she tripped and fell and looked liked a idiot, in front of a boy none the less. Medusa was always exploring places around the castle or the grounds,  she was always finding new places around the castle or grounds to hang out at, she liked quiet places like here.

Medusa was brought back to earth when she tripped and fell over the boys feet, which resulted her into somewhat cold, good thing it was a nice day out here today.

Medusa looked up from gathering her sketch book and supplies and looked up at the boy, and nodded.  "Yeah I'm fine, a bit wet and..." looking down seeing her elbow and knew scuffed up she brushed it off.  "A bit scuffed up but I'm ok, had worse riding horses."said Medusa.  "No, I wasn't looking where I was walking, too distracted in my own little world."said Medusa.

Gathering all her stuff she seen that she was missing a few drawings she did, they were probably gone now, oh well... that's what she gets for being clumsy and not paying attention.   Medusa notice by looking in the face he was a bit younger then her, probably a year at the most, but that wasn't no big deal.  "Thanks."said Medusa taking his hand as he helped her up.

Once up Medusa brushed her hair out of her eyes.  " Oh so rude of me, I'm Medusa, Medusa Hunt but call me Dessa or so for short cause I hate my real name."said Medusa sighing.  She didn't understand why her mother named her after a monster goddess who had snakes in her hair, although she had no problem with her middle name which was Athena, why didn't her mother just name her that?

"That makes two of us" Stephen had said mostly in a inner comment than really replying to anything that she had said. He couldn't help but looking her over in look for any other wound in her that had been causing by the trip on his legs. "I'm really sorry about those" he said seriously and a bit worried about it. There was nothing he could do to help her with it so he stood behind not bothering her.

Stephen helped her her and once she was once again in her feet he let go off her hand and stepped back. Watching her Stephen nodded and smiled a little. This was not his full smile, but one that showed how sorry he was for having her in such a position that moment. Still, it was rather cute in a way.

"I'm Stephen" he presented himself in his turn pronouncing the 'ph' as an 'f' what made his name sound like 'Stefan' instead of 'Steven' which he truly hated. And more than that he hated to be called 'Steve' for short, there was a good way to piss him off... "Meyers" he added. "I'm alright with any even if I still have a rather odd feeling everyone calls me Meyers" he admitted.

"Have you lost anything?" he asked her glancing at her pile of books and papers having noticed that she had looked a bit upset when she gathered all of them up.

Medusa looked down at the book in his hand's and seen it was a muggle book, she loved reading muggle books more then magical at times, but she wasn't picky. "What are you reading there?" Medusa asked nodding at his book. "I used to read alot about magical places, and fairies and dragons and stuff when I was little, wishing it was all real." said Medusa. Medusa blushed. "S.. sorry for rambling, do that alot meeting new people, don't do it well" said Medusa. "Huh what?" Medusa asked him before looking down at her elbow and knee. "Oh its ok, no damage done, like I said I had worse." said Medusa shrugging as if it wasn't nothing.

Medusa looked at him and gave him a soft warm shy but friendly smile. Medusa seen his smile and thought it was cute, wait what? she shouldn't be thinking that she just met him, but honestly it was. Ok... so she was a teenager, to think about boys wasn't a crime was it? Besides it wasn't the fact she liked him yet, as a friend but he did have a cute and adorable smile.

"Nice to meet you Stephen, your name is very unique, at least your not named after a monster."said Medusa. "Honestly why not my middle names Athena? it's much more prettier and normal." said Medusa. Medusa laughed. "Oh I won't call you that, too serious for my taste anyways." rolling her eyes. "Hm... I got to come up with Something, calling you Steph will be girly, and doubt you'll like that." Medusa bit her lip thinking.

" Oh just some drawings I did that I really liked, guess that's what I get for being in my own world not paying attention'" sighing she looked around some more. "You know what they say, sometimes fanasty is better then reality, but sometimes reality brings you great things." said Medusa.

Glancing at the book for a moment, Stephen shrugged a little. "Oh, it's just some Muggle book I've found at my mum's library" he said. "I've figured that they do have some interesting ones." However, he didn't think she would find that very interesting being too very busy with himself speaking to notice what she was implying with her sentence. He slowly nodded at that still smiling a bit. "Good, I'm glad you are alright."

He couldn't deny that she had a really great smile. It was not so very common for one to ever smile at him or to see him even so that was quite pleasing to see.

"Actually, it is so unique" he had to say, "it is quite common in my family. I got it after my grandfather and this last must have gotten it after someone else. I just think that they were never to be bothered with name picking so they just kept naming people after someone at any point" he shrugged a bit as he told this. He didn't know why he had just did so however... That would be the least of her troubles that moment, or ever. "You can think of it as a compliment, I think. In a way, before Medusa was turned into a monster she was indeed beautiful and was told to be attractive. You can focus on that part of the tale since it clearly suits you better than a snake hired kind of thing. Or you can simply skip to your second name. It is better for sure" Stephen moved a bit uncomfortably after his mythological speech. He was getting too deeper into Muggles legends for what it seemed... And well, for someone who wasn't known for talking much that was like an ocean of words coming out directly from his mind. "I'm alright with Stephen. Most people call me that way anyway."

Looking around them into the grounds surrounding them, Stephen tried to tell if there would be some papers nearby. "Maybe we can still find them?" he suggested. "If we go look for them, of course."

Medusa looked at him and the book he was reading, she was interested in what he was reading, she loved reading muggle books. "What's it about? I love reading muggle books, got a bunch of them at home that I read quite often." she said shrugging. "I go to the muggle library alot during the summer time, alot of good books I found there." Medusa was always reading something new and different, she was always discovering new things, whether it'll be in reading of discoveries she was always eager to learn. Medusa blushed at his statement, she never had anyone say that before besides family so it was a it weird to her. "Thanks, that's very nice of you." Medusa said putting her hair behind her ears.

She couldn't deny and start to feel happy inside when he smiled at her, it was a small smile but hey she took it. Not many people smiled at her, hell no one besides family ever smiled at her so she was happy about that.

Medusa nodded. "Well... I like it, but then again I like unique names, probably cause they're so different." she said shrugging. She blushed once again at him, but more then she did before. "You know, I think I'll hold onto that part, thanks for that." giving him a soft warm smile. "Ok it's settled then, Stephen it is." she said nodding in approval. "Stephen and Medusa, that's a nice team to start adventures, the adventures of Medusa and Stephen." she said giggling.

She looked around biting her lip. "Sure, maybe we'll find them if we look together." Medusa said. "Maybe we'll find them along the lake somewhere." she said looking around the place once again. "I.. I never shown my drawings to anyone, so I'm a bit embarrassed about it." Medusa said.

Shrugging a little at the question, Stephen put the book back on his pack since it seemed they would be moving from then on. "Well, it's about a little person who his hired to rob from a dragon" he just told. "I know, it's a bit odd especially because dragons are way dangerous and wilder than this one to steal something from, but it is fun to see the point of view of someone who had never in his entire life ever knew dragons were real." Why was he still talking anyway? He should have stopped by his first sentence of introducing the book.

A bit bothered by her direct look at him, Stephen moved uncomfortably in his spot but attempted that not to be noticed by throwing his pack over his shoulder. Confronting someone for the first time was always a challenge especially for someone like him who used to take for granted, wrongly but he did it anyway, that the other would never care for him in any way so why bother?

He was brought into a small smile either way. "It is a great part to focus on" he nodded. As in every story. It was not the beginning nor the ending that made it but the entire plot in between. Most likely that little person would not manage to do what he was wanted to but the author put a great effort of telling the whole story for a reason. It was that reason that mattered. "I think I can live with that" he said approving of her approval.

"Yes, if they hadn't been drawn away for the lake then there's a chance for us to find them. Here's the first chapter of that title then. Medusa and Stephen and the hidden pages." Why did he said that? He had no idea... Could it be him thinking out loud? Most definitely, yes! He headed then towards the lake, but was stopped by her last saying. No one ever was embarrassed by the possibility of him seeing them... And never being in that position took him to a strange one. "Hum... I won't look. Come on, I'll help you find them" he said.

Medusa listened to him explain the book to her and nodded, it sounded like a good book she'll enjoy. "Sounds like a interesting book, I like books like that, that have adventures to them."she said. "No I get it, me being Muggleborn I didn't know anything existed and didn't think it was real until I was eleven and got my Hogwarts letters." she said biting her lip. "I also read about dragons and magical spells and stuff when I was little, always wanted magic and magical creatures to be real, just to have a magical place to escape."said Medusa shrugging. Although being muggleorn you didn't know about magic or anything and probably wouldn't if you remained a muggle.

Medusa looked away from him and looke around for her drawings, was she being weird again? She had the worse habit of doing that, probably why she didn't have much friends. Medusa never had friends, she was too poor or too weird for anyone to like her at her muggle school, she didn't understand what clothing had to do it as long as she had a big heart and was friendly.

She looked back at him and smiled. "Indeed it is, indeed it is." she said agreeing with him. Every story had a adventure, and it was always in the middle that made it interesting, it was never the end or the beginning of the story but always in the middle. Every story had something unique about them and had a meaning behind it, the message was always in the story waiting to be found. That was what she loved about books, they were so interesting and gave out so many strong messages. No matter how big or small you were, you could do great and big things, she held onto that meaning for years.

She bite her lip thinking, he as right, they had to still be here somewhere. "You're right, they have to be around here somewhere, it's not windy out or anything."she said looking around. Medusa laughed. "I like that for the first chapter, think it fits right now at this very moment." looking from him as she went back to looking. "O..oh it's ok really if you do, just really had no one to look at them but my parents really, they say I'm good, but I think they say that cause they're my parents you know." she said as she seen a piece of paper with a horse drawn on it. "I found one of them, you can look if you want, I don't mind."said Medusa.
