PERSONALITY: Claire is more than a bit self-centered, but she doesn’t see it that way. She is a very prideful individual, and one of the most confident girls you are ever likely to meet. Her confidence, though, often makes her come across as arrogant – and she can be. She comes from a well-off family and was raised on the very best of everything, which has made her haughty. She has a strong feeling of entitlement, and her ability to get along well with others hinges strongly on the amount of attention they give her and how often they will let her have her way. She can be very catty and does not tend to get along well with other girls because she can be very critical and doesn’t like sharing the spotlight. Claire is typically rather condescending and, more often than not, thinks that anyone who does not belong in her social class could not possibly understand or get along with her.
Although she has many personality flaws, Claire is practiced in putting on an act for self-benefit. She can be very charming, and her social skills are well-honed, meaning she can carry just about any conversation with relative ease – although many conversations end up boring her to the point of not caring. If she wants to be, though, she can be very well-liked, at least until some of her less-admirable qualities come sneaking to the surface.
Despite the fact that Claire is not particularly intelligent by nature, her parents having given her access to the best education and tutors money could provide have made her a proficient witch. She does not seek knowledge for the sake of knowledge, but rather to improve her chances of getting ahead and garnering attention from her skills.

Early Years: Claire Prideux was born and raised in Nantes, France. From birth forward, Claire was brought up in a life of luxury. Her parents could and did provide her with everything she could ever want, and indulged her every whim. She was horseback riding by the age of three, taking ballet classes at four, and rubbing elbows with some of the most influential people in fashion and politics at an age where she barely reached their elbows. Being an only child, Claire never had to compete for the attention her parents, and thus became accustomed to being the center their world and came upon the expectation that others would see her in that same light.
At the age of 10, Claire’s parents’ relationship was strained to the point of breaking. Although they adored and fawned over Claire, their relationship had been started for all the wrong reasons – her mother marrying for money, her father marrying to have a young trophy wife – and so their marriage ended abruptly right before Claire was sent off to school. Both of them still live in France, though in different districts, and Claire spends time living at both estates. Although she would have liked to have the attention of both her parents around simultaneously, she does admit that since their divorce, one-upping each other in providing for Claire’s needs and wants has become a sort of pastime for her parents, one which Claire uses to her own advantage.
Hogwarts Years: When Claire came of age to attend school, there was no debating that she would be attending Beauxbatons. Her mother would have accepted no less, thinking all other schools inferior to the one she herself attended (though considering what Cosette does for a living, it is not as though she is even using her magical education). Thus, Claire was sent off to Beauxbatons, where she immediately gathered a flock of admirers and more than a few enemies. She grew in popularity during her first few years at the institution and put together something of a beautiful-people club that, in her fifth year, was powerful enough to allow her to do just about anything she pleased with little to no repercussion. Of course, in flaunting her reign over other students of Beauxbatons, there are some people who were not interested in worshiping her and thus were delegated to the undesirable category, but that is of little concern to Claire.
As for her academic career, Claire exceeds in class because she has the means to do so. She is not unintelligent, but academia is not her first priority. Her grades are glowing, due mostly to the help – and by help, it sometimes means ‘doing it for her’ – of private tutors or admiring, but nerdy young men eager to please the queen bee. She is talented with a wand and quick-thinking, which has helped to round out her list of talents, and only makes her easier to hate.
