Khaat's House in Hogsmeade--(open) Empty Khaat's House in Hogsmeade--(open)

Post by Khaat Lupin Sat Dec 12, 2009 1:38 pm

Khaat walked into her new house in Hogsmeade. It had become necessary to take on an additional place, with her new work in Hogsmeade. She shared her house with two "muggle" cats--an ordinary orange tabby named Mo, and Mo's best friend, another "muggle" cat named Max, who was all white.

Khaat had placed enchantments on her home so her cats could never be harmed. Any attempt to harm them would reverse the spell on the sender with the intent magnified to near fatal levels. A second attempt by the sender would result in the spell reversing and causing instant death. She loved her pets and would not stand for anyone harming them.

The home, however, was warm and inviting, and it was Khaat's sanctuary away from Cornwall. Like most wizarding homes, she had put protective charms all around it, but she had put her own unique twists on them so that they would not be easily figured out or undone.

Khaat fixed herself a cup of tea, and curled up on the deep comfortable sofa with Mo and Max to watch some muggle tv.

Khaat's House in Hogsmeade--(open) Empty Re: Khaat's House in Hogsmeade--(open)

Post by Khaat Lupin Tue Dec 22, 2009 3:05 am

Khaat pondered over her home and its design. It was an old cobblestone cottage that she had fallen in love with. The heavy wood doors, wood trim, shutters and windowboxes had been painted cornflower blue before she bought it, and Khaat had just left it since the weather was getting colder. the windows were all leaded glass with stained glass scenes in them that reflected warm colors and sunlight into the rooms. There was a beautiful matching cobblestone wall all around the property, like a hedge, framing in the immaculent garden. She had found all manner of fruit and nut trees, flowering trees, large shade trees, and perfectly manicured flowerbeds and grass. There was a large herb and vegetable garden just out the back door, and a large oversized potting shed towards the back of the yard.

Inside, there were five large whitewashed rooms downstairs. There was a large, open living room with a huge fireplace that served to heat most of the house. She had filled the room with overstuffed country style furniture in cornflower blue, and blue and green plaid. She had filled the place with antigues and some of her mother's original artwork and sculpture that gave it a very comfortable, casual look.

The dining room was off to the right side of the fireplace, and there was a large, heavy wood dining room table with ladderback chairs, a serviceable wood sideboard, and a large heavy hutch with her mother's stoneware placed in it for daily use. The stoneware had a colorful pattern that seemed to bring the room to life. That and the large bay window with the deep cushioned windowseat with thick, fluffy throw pillows.

From the left of the living room fireplace, was Khaat's study/sitting room. It was lined in dark woods, large leaded glass windows, and many bookshelves. There was a large heavy wood desk with a leather chair, a loveseat with a red printed fabric, and two coordinating red wing chairs near a small fireplace. Doors led from the study and the dining room to the large country kitchen that, like the living room, ran the full width of the house.

The kitchen had a unique and comfortable mix of a fireplace for cooking, as well as the latest muggle conveniences, and beautiful country cupboards. Copper cookware from France hung from the walls and ceiling. There were wide windows with beautiful views of the garden to let in the sun. The fabrics matched the living room fabrics.

There was a stairway in the living room, right behind the fireplace, and another stairway to go up in the kitchen. The kitchen stairway also led down into the cellar.

The last room downstairs was a beautiful sunroom out the back door. It had floor to ceiling windows on three sides a terracotta floor for warmth, a ceiling fan to stir warm summer breezes, and wamr colored woodwork. The room was decorated with comfortable furniture--a comfortable sofa that had a print of tropical ferns and birds on a vanilla background, and four comfortable club chairs done on complimentary prints to the couch. The room also had a round table with four padded chairs, the fabric in complimentary colors to the couch and chairs. There were several flourishing plants.

There were eight whitewashed bedrooms upstairs. Four of them had been magically added by Khaat so that the house would not look double the size of the downstairs. The six guest rooms had full sized beds and all imaginable immenities. Each one was done in a jewel tone. One was done in forest green, another in purple, another in topaz yellow, another in ruby red, another in a fushia, and the other in saphhire blue. Khaat's own room was painted a buttery vanilla color and had beautiful red printed fabrics. She had queen sized bed, and a pair of vanilla and red wing chairs in front of the large leaded glass windows, with a round table between them for comfortable reading. All the lamps in the house were of handmade stained glass, made by her mother. Beside Khaat's bed were two wizard photographs--one of her parents, and one of her Uncle Remus.

The eighth bedroom belonged to Khaat's adopted daughter, Miseria. The room had whitewashed walls, like the rest of the house, but the furniture was stained black. The bed was a large, antique, handcarved canopy bed with red tapestry drapes and a red tapestry bedspread. The drapes were made from red tapestry fabric and on the floor was a geometric printed rug in red, white and black. There were beautiful stained glass lamps and red glass accent pieces and black ones. Khaat had gotten Miseria a large beautiful mirror with a stained glass frame that matched the lamps. In the windows were large leaded glass circles with stained glass scenes of birds, trees, and flowers.

The house's bathrooms were both upstairs. The first bathroom was done in a similar country style, with an oversized clawfoot tub, and enough large thick white bath sheets to make it a spa if it had to be. It had several large, full ivy plants hanging from hooks in the ceiling, and had soft rugs on the floor and a multicolored printed curtain on the windows. She had taken care to strategically place jewel toned glassware in the bathroom to give it character and color. The second bathroom was done identical to the first, but was decorated in warm chocolate brown tones.

She was pleased with her place, and she was hoping to soon have some friends that would feel comfortable in visiting her like friends visited her country home with her parents.

After leaving Hogwarts following Shacklebolt's arrest, Khaat was too weak to go any further than her house in Hogsmeade, but she surely thought about hiding out now at her parents' farm. The house was dark and cold. She made it as far as her living room sofa and laid down there, unable to do much more. She used her uncle's wand to start a fire in the fireplace, and tucked the wand tightly beside her. Her cats, Mo and Max curled up beside her, and she collapsed into an exhausted sleep filled with the worse nightmares she'd had since Uncle Remus was killed. Her dreams kept telling her her uncle was far from proud of her now, that she had disgraced him and the Lupin family--again, just like she had by not being there to protect him when he died.

Khaat's House in Hogsmeade--(open) Empty Re: Khaat's House in Hogsmeade--(open)

Post by Khaat Lupin Sat Dec 26, 2009 3:30 pm

Khaat had no idea how long she had slept, but it had been restless at best. Her cats woke her. They were hungry and expected fed. She conjured breakfast for them. She noticed the winter morning sun shining brightly through her sparkling clean windows. The fire had long gone out in the house, and it was cold in here. She laid on the sofa, remembering the duel. The events replayed now in slow motion in her mind. She looked at them trying to find a mistake, a misstep. What would Majere, or Shacklebolt for that matter, have done if she had stepped in front of the headmaster to shield him? Might Majere have made a mistake and perhaps "offed" her, which seemed today like it might have been a kindness on his part if he had. But no. He enjoyed suffering much too much to have done that.

And what the heck was that nonsense with Wilson all about? This morning she regretted not killing him when she had the chance. And why had he not killed her when he clearly could have? She was totally at his mercy and he let her live. Furthermore, she had sensed Shacklebolt's own immensely powerful energies and could not figure out why he had simply surrendered so easily? It seemed almost suicidal-like, and not what she had expected from him. And--one of her most perplexing thoughts was where the devil had all the other teachers had been? What about their own mighty DADA teacher? Or anybody, for that matter? Why had she been the only one to hear the terrible explosion and come running to help support and defend Shacklebolt? Were they all wimps or were they all traitors too? Had it been a gigantic mistake to come from Cornwall afterall?

She frowned, realizing the depth of her negative thoughts and feelings. She wasn't typically brooding and negative. And she had never, ever been a quitter. This was new for her. It had to be the cruciatus. She remembered, now, Shacklebolt protecting her from it as best he could in his own dire situation, but clearly there had been some small element that had slipped through. It certainly would be an easy enough thing to apparate into St. Mungos and have her staff remove the remainder of the cruciatus. But, today, she still heard her uncle in her head. And it had convinced her she deserved the self destructive urges it was giving her. It had convinced her that she should be grateful that was all it had done to her after her ineptitude. She closed her eyes, rare tears from her own deep emotional turmoil escaping down her cheeks. She never cried. Never, but just this once, she didn't know how to stop it.

Khaat's House in Hogsmeade--(open) Empty Re: Khaat's House in Hogsmeade--(open)

Post by Khaat Lupin Sat Dec 26, 2009 8:11 pm

When Jess did not come, did not respond, Khaat wondered what had gone wrong. She trusted that Archangel had delivered the first message to Grimmald Place. And yet, he had not come or even sent a note in return. Khaat decided to try once more. But this time she sent two notes. She sent the first one to Narcissa. She ended up with another smudge of blood on the parchment, but she was more intent on warning her. "Hogwarts is lost. Your children are in grave danger. I am so very sorry. K"

She wrote one more short note on a piece of torn parchment and rolled it into a scroll and sent Archangel to Hogwarts first to try one last time to find Potter.

The longer no one came, the more she believed there was conspiracy deeper than she knew and she was feeling she had been used as a pawn and had been allowed to be almost killed for it. That fueled her deep depression and despondency. The people she trusted had and were letting her down. Why? Why her? Why weren't they willing to let her into their little sacred secret circle? Was every human being so corrupt? And how much of all these thoughts that were spnning in her brain were really the work of the cruciatus hammering at her brain? Oh, how she should have used the killing curse on Wilson when she had her chance!

She left her living room window ajar so Archangel could get in and out as he needed to because she wasnt up to letting him in and out every time it was needed. That only made it colder in the house. She shivered as everything faded into bitter cold and pitch black silence.

Khaat's House in Hogsmeade--(open) Empty Re: Khaat's House in Hogsmeade--(open)

Post by Khaat Lupin Sun Dec 27, 2009 1:54 pm

She woke again, another day. And today there was snow in the house from her neglect. She frowned. What was she doing letting snow in the house? And Archangel had not returned. What if he had been captured or harmed? He'd never been gone overnight from her before.

She used wandless magic to shut the window. She looked at her cats. They were still with her, but they had snow on their fur, in their loyalty to stay beside her. She felt pity for them. "Okay, guys, " she sighed, "No more snow in the house." She waved her uncle's wand to put the house to rights and to conjure a new fire in the fireplace, and to set down fresh food and water for the cats. They gratefully went over to the rug in front of the fire and huddled there to get warm. That haunted her, her own knowledge that the cruciatus had her so negligent of herself that she'd almost let her precious pets freeze to death inside the house.

She now looked at her shoulder. It was still a mess. It wasn't like her to get so depressed that she just hadn't cared, and she was starting to realize she was thirsty. She raised her wand and said "Accio!" It brought her one of her mother's large stoneware mugs, one in brilliant red orange with swirls of blue, filled with cold water. She sipped at it. It tasted heavenly. She realized it was the first she had put into her mouth since the duel.

Now she was more confused than ever. The cruciatus clearly would not let her die. Wasn't designed to. Was designed for her to want to die. And she did. But she had been so wrong. So much had been her fault. Now with Hogwarts, basically, gone--in evil hands, what had she done? What on earth had she done? If Remus had been here, he would have never forgiven her. Never. She thought of apparating back home, but Archangel was still missing. And if Remus would never have forgiven her, neither would her parents. No, she was alone now. Maybe forever. Maybe nobody would want to be around her ever again. She conjured a vial of highly concentrated poison beside her mug on her coffee table. She made sure it was magically sealed so her cats could not open it or accidently break it open. If she got to the point where she chose to stop the cruciatus, she would stop it all for good. She would apparate the cats and Archangel home to her parents and end it all, if it came to that.

Post by Miseria Lupin Sun Dec 27, 2009 8:49 pm

Rushing trough the streets, Miseria followed the eagle, shaking all over the body. Snowflakes were falling again, making little snowy hills even bigger than they already were. She tryied to ignore the cold what was outside, but she didn't even have time to take some warmer clothes from Hufflepuff's common room. She stopped in the middle of the street, looking on the both sides and then she rushed again, following the Archangel.

Taking deep breathes, Miseria finally made it – Khaat's house what was far away from the Hogwarts. And when she tryied to enter it, she had disapointment to face. “Oh come on!“ she said. Protection spells! Right! Great! What should she do now? “What's next, Birdy?“ she asked, scowling.

Archangel finally arrived back home, still carrying his scroll for Jess Potter. He rapped on the window with sharp, loud taps with his strong beak. Khaat woke and used wandless magic to open the window for him. Then, seeing he still had the scroll, she frowned. "What did you do?" she asked him. She looked out the window and saw a student trying to get through her defenses. She sighed heavily and lowered them, and opened the door, wondering why he had brought a student.

Miseria looked at the eagle and raised her eyebrows. She signed quietly. Maybe that was wrong place? Maybe Khaat wasn't here after all? That made her even sadded. So she was just wastin time, freezing here, maybe even getting sick. She turned herself around, ready to leave but then she heard door voice and looked back. Then she saw one lady over there. “You are Khaat?“ she asked. Yes, who else could she be?

"Yes," Khaat said, "Come in quickly, in case you were followed." She waited to see what would happen. To her surprise, Archangel landed near the girl. She knew he was showing her he had brought her to help. One student? She wasn't sure what good that was going to do, but help was help. Obviously he had run into trouble. Khaat conjured a bowl of chicken pieces and fruit pieces for him, knowing he would be hungry. "Archangel must trust you, " she said, "Do you mind feeding him as you tell me who you are?" Khaat suddenly became aware that she was wearing the same clothes she had on the day of the duel, and she was not very presentable. Far from her neat and clean self.
