Bertie's Plots

BERTIUS PETER NOGARD

       

Below you will find an assortment of plots for Bertie. I will subdivide this page into relationship plots, of where there will be a list of the other characters that affect Bertie's life and the kind of plot that he had with each of them. Then there will be story line plots that are a plot based upon events as opposed to relationships.

     

RELATIONSHIP PLOTS

Family:

Although not blood related the two share a close bond that mimics that of brother and sister. Their relationship started upon bertie's first week at Hogwarts when the older Slytherin helped him out when he was lost. Bertie depends a lot on Vivianna as she has taught him many things in his years, whether it be streetwise knowledge, help with potions or general life skills. Vivianna is the closest person he has to family in Hogwarts and loves her greatly.

Zane is more like a cousin to Bertie. Although in the same house the two didn't actually get talking until they Vivianna became close to Zane, most likely due to the age difference and that Bertie wouldn't usually approach an older male student due to feeling intimidated. However the two seem to get on well and if Bertie ever has a problem he know that Zane will be there for him.

The two share a special bond that Bertie doesn't have with many other students. Upon meeting in the greenhouses once the two instantly became friends, breaking Erika's touch barrier that is rare to get past. They both share the same interests and Bertie considers her a great friend as she never fails to make him smile with her peculiar quirks and passion for literature that he admires.

Both are fourth years and know each other on a first name basis after being in a few classes together. Bertie wouldn't go as far to say they are great friends but he does get on fairly well with Alisha. She's easy to talk to, friendly and quiet amusing in a quirky-cool way that she doesn't realise.

Although both know each others names they haven't really held a proper conversation besides a simple 'could I just get past, I've ran out of fertiliser'. The two spoke to each other briefly at the end of year party during Bertie's fourth year. In fact the two got on so well that Bertie would possibly class her as one of the few friends that he has. Whether Fiona thinks the same is another thing but the two could, potentially, have a great friendship.

Acquaintances:

Both are in the same year, and house, at Hogwarts. The two, although have different personalities, haven't ever really mixed or held conversation until the train ride to Hogwarts at the start of the fifth year, have a lot more in common than you'd expect. During the fourth year both fell gravely ill and had to take a leave of absence from Hogwarts, Bertie's being the winter period whilst Katherine's the spring period. Because Katherine is now in the same situation as Bertie was (returning to Hogwarts after a leave of absence) he feels that he can relate to her and possibly be somewhat of a support system if she were to need it meaning the two may not remain acquaintances for long but because friends in fact.

At the start of Bertie's fifth year at Hogwarts he shared a compartment with Jessica on the Hogwarts Express. Although they didn't have a deep conversation, mostly polite small talk, they were formally introduced after only recognising each other from across the common room and the Ravenclaw table at meal times.

At the end of year party, during Bertie's fourth year, the Ravenclaw met Ducky. Of course he knew all about him (who didn't?) and was a little nervous when the Gryffindor plonked a drink into his hand. Thankfully Ducky was understanding and didn't pressure Bertie into doing anything that he didn't want to do.

Both Bertie and Leah share a dormitory and so it's only natural that the two are aquaintences seeing as they sleep in the same room, share classes, interact on a daily basis. However they aren't, in Bertie's eyes, typical friends. Bertie is more independent, random, creative and absorbed in his own world. Apart from coming from Muggle backgrounds the pair don't have much in common and have their own friends.

Both being in the same house with only a year difference it isn't a surprise to see that Bertie and Trisha are friends. Usually Bertie doesn't socialise much with the older students although there is the exception for girls. Not because he is a ladies man, far from it, purely because he knows how to get on with them much better than with a male because he's never had a male figure in his life.

Although they are full blown enemies Bertie has noticed that the fellow Ravenclaw has sociopathic tendencies and has learnt to keep his distance from her - even Vivianna warned him of Henri. After hearing how Henri had humiliated Erika in the throwdown of the century Bertie soon realised that Henri is a lot more trouble than he first made out and although he hasn't been vocal about his opinions of her Bertie is cautious and has a slight dislike towards the popular girl.

     

STORY LINE PLOTS

After believing the green itch had been fully taken care of it appeared that Bertie had a mutated strain that was more vicious than the original believed to be cure. The strand Bertie had had been lay dormant inside of him, hidden. However on 12th October the magical bug striked again during breakfast. By nine o clock Bertie was in the hospital wing and the nurse believed Bertie to have passed away. Amelia Cooper, his head of house, had St Mungo's come and move him. However the healers discovered that Bertie was still alive, but barely. His breathing was almost inexistant and his pulse was extremely weak.
Once at St Mungo's they managed to revive him to almost full health but knew that the magical bug wasn't the same green itch as before. Because he was still infected, once again the bug had lay to rest inside it's host, and the healers were unsure of what damage the bug could do and how it was transmitted they had Bertie kept in quarantine. He couldn't leave and only medical professionals could enter. Of course the staff of Hogwarts were informed Bertie was in fact alive but ordered them to not inform the students of his current condition until they were aware of his current condition and what they were dealing with. It was because of this that many students believed Bertie to be dead, including Vivianna Varnes. However the teachers never got wind of the rumor as the Ravenclaw wasn't that well known.
Amelia felt the need to place a bulletin on the noticeboard updating the house but St Mungo's strongly advised her against this especially seeing as it could have a negative effect on Bertie when he returns to Hogwarts. If students know of the fact he had an 'immortal-bug' it could affect how he forms relationships, people may judge him and so forth.
Just before New Years Eve the magical bug striked again, however this time due to the number of healers at the scene and ready they managed to locate the source of the mutated green itch and eradicate it completely from Bertie, thus curing him. After a month of recovery from a third episode and yet another brutal battle Bertie has been discharged and is due to return to Hogwarts at the end of Janurary after spending time with his family.
Despite Bertie being cured the healers managed to culture some of the bug and so are studying it in more depth in order to investigate and discover more about the newly discovered mutated green itch. Bertie also needs to have a physical exam once a month with the Hogwarts nurse.

Unfortunately Bertie developed symptoms of the green itch, which were noticed by healer Sophia Granger upon being hospitalised for a life threatening magical bug. Bertie was physically very weak, and had to take daily potions each morning and evening in order to relieve the green itch symptoms.
