Being a Leader
Welcome to Potter’s Army

Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Being a Leader Empty Being a Leader

Post by Guest Wed Oct 01, 2008 11:44 pm

Yes I already know alot of you know how to be leaders, but this is to help when your stuck and can't think.

Voice
Being a leader requires you to not studder and be proud of what your saying. Try to keep your voice deep and loud so that way you can stun them if their not listening, or if your in front of a crowd. No one will hear you give orders if you whispering or muttering.

Stance
If your going to lead, then stand up and declare it! If you slouch all the time and look you don't care or interested, people are going to take notice and won't listen to you or won't do what you want. If you were in front of the General of your country and he was saying 'good job' or something, do you want to be slouching.

Respect and Trust
It is also important to have the respect and trust of your followers. You may have been in a stituation where the members are bickering against each other. Your the one that has to sort it out, if you want to be a leader. If you have the respect and/or trust from those people you may be able to sort it out. IF you don't have their trust it may turn out wrong.

Goal
What's the point in trying to lead someone if you don't havce a goal to accomplish? Honestly theres no point and if you try to lead someone without a goal, their just going to think your trying to boss you around which may end up losing your respect.

Thought
To be a succeful leader you have to first make sure you know the people in case of some phycological problems. Like fears, past experience, etc. Try to get close to your team and make sure your not going to hurt them.

Decision
Making a touch choice also means making a hard decision for your group. Don't make things harder for them just because it means it will be easier for you. Try to make sure your not going to lose anyones respect because of YOUR decision.

Listening
Another key part is listening to your teammates to make sure your on the right path. Some decisions are very hard and if they respect you enough, they will try to help you follow the right path.

Experience
Being a leader isn't something you get overnight. It takes a long time for you to come up with a subtable path with you and it is hard at first. Try being a follower at some points because theres less presure and you will learn from the leader. Just make sure you learn the pros and cons before you go rushing up the stage and going to try and be a leader.

As you can see alot of these require one or two things. Be calm and be sure.
