The Need to Duel

Andrew stepped into the duel hall wearing a grey jacket, white shirt and black pants. He felt confident today that he would be able to win at a duel, something he had never been very well at. Yet still, he knew that practice made it perfect so he would keep trying. He walked around the empty room and stood on the table where Harry and Draco had battled when they had been 12. It was a fine piece of history indeed. He pulled out his wand, a very dark wand, yet could not remember what kind it was. The wand had chosen him so he called it 'Sally'. It was ridiculous but knew it was better than calling by some branch and then some string in it. Way better.

He flinged his wrist a few times without saying a word, then the wand fired a spell at lightspeed that struck a portrait. It went flying and the smashed into the wall. Andrew quickly flinched back surprized by the sudden flight. He chuckled nervously and then whistled nonchalantly.

Sophia was heading back to the Gryffindor Common room when she heard something break in the dueling room. Deciding to see what the noise was she walked down the sixth floor towards the dueling room. As she walked in she saw Andrew there and gave him a soft warm smile. "Praticing spells huh?"Sophia asked him as she looked at him and the portrait. "Reparo!"said Sophia as a the portrait repaired itself and went back on the wall where it was before Andrew blew it up.

Andrw almost flinched when Sophia came into the room. He chuckled and said "You could say that," he said calmly as he pocketed his wand. He raised an eyebrow as she repaired the portrait and the angry irishman in the portrait swearing at Andrew. "Heh heh," he chuckled.

Sophia looked at the portrait and laughed her tinkling bell laugh and looked at Andrew. "Don't worry about it, he's always like that he's constantly blown up when we have duels in here!"said Sophia laughing. Sophia conjured a death eater dummy and smiled. "Sectumsempra!" Sophia shouted as the spell hit the dummy and sliced it opened she smiled. As she repaired she pointed her wand at. "Expelliarmus!" Sophia thought to herself as the wand flew out of the death eater dummy hand.

Andrew's eyes opened wide open. He did not want to mess with Sophia now. He toke a few baby steps back and said "Okay well enjoy slicing and dicing,". He still stood there and tried to think of a few dueling spells. He couldn't think of anything at all except Stupefy. Obviously he wasn't going to be a great duelist in his lifetime.

Sophia looked at him and laughed her tinkling bell laugh. "It's ok I won't hurt you, I will never do that unless you betray me!"said Sophia seriously. "My farther taught me very well, he's a very good duelist."said Sophia softly. "Why don't I teach you a couple of spells?"Sophia offered giving him a soft warm smile. "The reason why I'm so good, I was in tons of hogwarts battles and duels."said Sophia honestly. "To be honest I still am, it nevers it old."said Sophia rolling her eyes.

Andrew smiled and toke a step forward. "Sounds good," he said warmly. He looked at his wand again and then tried to think of a few spells. He wasn't aiming at her but once again he accidently chanted a Sutpefy and managed to hit the brick wall. "I don't know why, but whenever I think a spell, it just appears. I don't even try," he explained.

Sophia's eyes widen as she seen the spell bounce off the wall and came towards her. "Protego!" Sophia shouted as a shield surrounded her as the went through her shield and faded away. "Ok... lets start with the basics like Expelliarmus, Impedienta, Petrificus Totalus, and of course Stupefy!"said Sophia giving him a soft warm smile. "Are you familiar whith any of these spells besides Stupefy?"Sophia asked him. "If you want me to show you the effects of all of them, I'll be happy to do so!"said Sophia softly.

Andrew scratched his head due to an itch. "Well I've used Expelliarmus and Protego before, yet I have never actually used any of those other spells you mentioned." he explained. He almost felt ashamed of himself. He had always imagined himself as a great duelist, yet in reality he was an amateur. So much for the family name.

"Hey it's nothing to be ashame of, to be honest I didn't know any of them before my fifth year."said Sophia honestly. "Ok... I'll show you what Petrificus Totalus does."said Sophia softly as she pointed her wand at the dummy and made it move and come after her. " Petrificus Totalus!"said Sophia as the death eater dummmy arms snapped to it's side and he gotten stiff as a board and fell back. "Used to temporarily bind the victim's body in a position much like that of a soldier at attention; this spell does not restrict breathing or seeing, and the victim will usually fall to the ground just like this dummy did."said Sophia softly. "Now you try."said Sophia as she took the curse off the moving death eater dummy.
