Winter Flying Fun

"Good boy. " Renae said as Archangel came back with the enchanted fish. "I think you deserve another berry for that one. She looked over as she saw Khaat talking to the handsoem Proffesor Dent. "Oh wow. Khaat I hope you don't mess this one up. she smiled brightly then turned back to Archangel whispering to him.
"Aw look Archangel your mommy's flirting with Proffesor Dent, aren't you just so proud of her?" she continued to pet him as would gaze at the two talking.

"I'm famous?" Robert asked, raising his eyebrow. "Honestly I highly doubt it. I've got to figure out some kind of lesson plan for my classes. It'll be tough making students fall in love with History of Magic again."

He knew it as well as he did the back of his hand. Rob loved History of Magic when he was a student. Granted Binns was still there and didn't seem to want to bugger off but it was still a great lesson. Being lulled to sleep by Binns' droning and then hearing his voice while you slept. History was at his fingertips and completely under the control of his imagination.

However he wanted his students awake and intrigued with the lessons. How the hell he was supposed to make goblin rebellions interesting he didn't know but little guys running around taking on wizards was enough to make him look up and question what they were doing.

"Man, I wish my dog played fetch. You'd think a dog would but he's completely stubborn and won't do it." Rob chuckled.

Khaat laughed. "You have two very tough obstacles. Making history exciting, and also getting a dog to do anythng he doesn't want to do. My mother manages, but how I do not know. She specialized in the Care of Magical Creatures. I swear she can get any animal to do anything and thinks its just so simple. So have you thought about using enchanted figures, or some of the magical portraits in the stairwells? They might come and talk to your students with you. I wish Binns had done some of that. Maybe if he had blended magic with its history, it would have come alive for us. Then we'd have paid more attention, certainly." She wanted to tell him she could not imagine having him having any issue with getting, at least, the female students to pay attention to him, but she didn't want to be improper.

Ana walked up to Archangel and smiled, "Hey Archangel. Hey boy, i have something for you." She said as she pulled a treat from her pocket and held it out to him. "Don't tell Khaat but i'm gonna spoil you." She whispered to him. Ana giggled to herself as she pet him with her other hand.

"My dog will forever be the size of a puppy I'm afraid due to my cousin's accidental magic or at least that's what she calls it. I have no idea but my dog has some serious little man problems." Robert smiled and shook his head. "Honestly I have no idea what to do. I want to take the students on trips depending on what we're studying but whether Majere will go for it or not I'm not sure. I also thought about having some replays of what happened going on in the classroom like holograms. Some people like to re-enact old battles and stuff. They store them in crystal balls used for Divination but I have loads so that would be cool to have walking around the classroom and stuff. I never thought about paintings though, I'll have to ask about to see if any of my friends have got any."

"Its cool Ana I've been spoiling him for the longest." she laughed. Whispering to Ana she said,
" Is it me or is Khaat and Robert flirting just a little?" she asked

Archangel liked the students. And he liked it when people paid attention to him. He took Ana's treat appreciatively, and took in every second of petting he could get. He eyed the toys waiting to see who would either throw the red stick or release the enchanted fish next.

"Check the Hogwarts halls and stairwells. The portraits of some of the old headmasters and such can talk. And don't forget about the ghosts around Hogwarts. Nearly Headless Nick was an eyewitness and a participant to some of the things you'll be teaching. Your students could get it from the 'horse's mouth', so to speak. I know if every class was a little different, I'd never miss a single one," Khaat said, "And, you could have the students reinact some magical history. Give each one a role and let them act it out, so long as it was historically acurate. Might be interesting how they end up doing it. The more they participate in history, past or present, the more they'll make it their own. I forget which headmaster told me that. Suppose I should conjure a little hot spiced cider for everyone? It might help them warm up. Archangel can play for quite awhile."

Ana picked up the fish and looked over at Khaat and Robert then back at Renae. "I think they are flirting." she whispered giggling. Ana kissed Archangel's head hugging him close then picking up his enchanted fish throwing it, "Go get it boy." Ana said as she waited for him to fetch the fish.

"I'd love to do more for them but after seeing the tests I just completely backed up. I was only going to use that particular thing for the Beginner years - you know keep it light and fluffy so its not too serious but the tests aren't particularly inspiring so I guess I'll wing it. I'll see if I can bribe Nick to teach a few lessons and maybe the Bloody Baron could share a tale or two."

Rob knew it was coming together. His friends had connections with the Black Market artists who in turn could get some portraits of prominent members of the House of Black. He knew now he'd go portrait robbing around the school and maybe get the Divination teacher to give him some Crystal Balls.

"Here," Robert smiled. "Allow me." Rob took his wand out from behind his ear and waved it at a patch of grass near the lake. A red and white patchwork blanket appeared with various cardigans and jumpers on top as well as a basket which he made sure was filled with the cider and anything else the girls wanted.

"Oh, thank you, "Khaat smiled, "That's perfect. Hey, everyone, come warm up while Archangel is gone."

Archangel loved fetching the glittering little fish. It would swim out in the lake, just under the surface of the water. Archangel would glide effortlessly just above the surface and eventually clutch the slippery little fish in his talons and swoop up in a huge, triumphant arching circle before bringing the fish back to whoever threw it. It was always a display that Khaat thought was breathtakingly beautiful. And it filled her with peace whe she saw him fly. She watched him make his big circle of triumph and glide back and drop the fish in Ana's hand and then sit on her shoulder, waiting for a berry or a slice of fresh apple.

"I love seeing him fly, " Khaat said to Dent softly, "He's just so incredible. I guess I spend too much time living alone--when my eagle becomes my best buddy in the whole world. That's part of why I came back. I needed to make some more friends. Have some fun. Feel a part again. Sounds silly, huh?"
