The Huffelpuff Table

Abbey and Ettie walked into the Great Hall together and sat down at the Hufflepuff table. Abbey wanted to start eating soon, but she knew she couldn't touch the food yet.

Rory walked into the great hall and inhaled deeply. She grinned and walked over to her Hufflepuff table. She sat down and groaned a bit. A long train trip and she can't touch the food yet?! Aye, she thought, this was going to be hard but she just shrugged and watched other people arrive and chat.

After Headmaster Shackleboat gave his start of term speech, as usual, the food showed up, and the students began digging in. Cosette, however, was not a messy eater - on the contrary, she was quiet dainty when it came to eating, as she didn't want to seem a pig - Ever.
"So, are you excited for the first day?" Cosette asked Abbey, who was two years younger than herself.

"Oh yeah, definitely!" Abbey said. She had a huge smile on her lips. Abbey couldn't wait to start all her new classes. Abbey took a goblet of pumpkin juice and sipped it. She noticed Ettie out of the corner of her eye. She was being dainty with her food, picking-up one thing at a time and taking small bites. "Come on Ettie, lighten up!" Abbey said, smiling. Ettie looked quite confused. "No one's going to think you a pig! Every single person in this room is acting like one because they're starving! So dig in!" Abbey took some mashed potatoes and gravy and placed them on her plate, and began eating eagerly. Ettie glanced at her and laughed.

Cosette rolled her eyes at Abbey, but laughed anyway. She was generally very cautious about how she looked to others, though she didn't want to seem as though she thought she was too good for people. She just didn't want to seem revolting or anything.
"So, what are you looking forward to the most?" Cosette asked, taking slightly larger bites of her plain mashed potatoes. She avoided gravy, for reasons she herself didn't understand.

"Quidditch!" Abbey replied eagerly. "And classes. And meeting new friends. So pretty much everything!" Abbey said, laughing. Ettie laughed too. Abbey could still see she was trying to eat daintly, but she ignored it and rolled her eyes. "Hey, you know some kid made fun of my hair on the train?" Abbey asked in disbelief. She quite liked her hair, and had been insulted when someone had made fun of it.

"Who?" Cosette asked immediately, annoyed. "Do I need to have a talk with them?"
"I doubt your talks will affect them." Abbey laughed.
"I don't care. It's all I can manage, being so short and a Hufflepuff." Cosette teased.

"It was that kid, Aleski Mikkonen, I think. He's a fifth-year Ravenclaw. But he acted more like a Slytherin." Abbey grumbled. She shoved some peas into her mouth. She was still steaming about it. "Maybe I could write a song about it." Abbey thought aloud. "Writing songs always make me feel better." Abbey began thinking about lyrics. "Want to help me?" she asked Cosette exciedtly.
