Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Transfiguration Club Meeting 1 Empty Transfiguration Club Meeting 1

Post by Lucien Holt Mon Sep 09, 2013 11:42 pm

Keiran wasn't sure exactly what he was expecting from his students in regards to the club he had set up outside of class. Even students who weren't in the main portions of his class had been invited thanks to a notice in the Great Hall regarding the meeting place and time. The first meeting would decide how many of the meetings he would hold throughout the year.

He had already chosen the topics they would be covering, and could only hope students found it interesting. If nothing else, Professor Hayes would be offering up House Points to those who attended and accomplished much. Hopefully it would be a success.

He had not ever orchestrated a large, year-long event like what would be starting that evening. Even though he had been "promoted" for lack of a better word, to Head of Slytherin, he was still just doing his best to create decent relationships with students who needed him. He wanted to mean something to a student. Perhaps down the road one would come to him and say how much he had helped them. That idea might be far fetched for a simple Transfiguration professor, but one might call it a strange goal he dreamed might one day come true.

Keiran passed through the halls after dinner that night and found his way up to the classroom, where he would be holding the club much like he would hold the class. He clicked his wand to move the desks against the walls and leave an open area in the middle of the room. Then, he conjured a set of blankets to lay out on the floor. There was no reason to hold a club meeting in which the students sat on desks.

After he moved the chalkboard closer to the middle of the room, he brought his chair as well and sat down to await the arrival of whichever students were curious enough to join.

Transfiguration Club Meeting 1 Empty Re: Transfiguration Club Meeting 1

Leah's long fingers traced over the poster pinned -by what appeared to be a basic sticking charm- to the wall of the Great Hall. It was positioned so that as you walked out, you were more likely to notice it, but if you had an attentive eye, you might spot it entering as well.
The logic behind that as far as Leah could tell, was that people were less likely to see something other then the food they were planning on consuming.

After they had eaten, you had more of a chance of getting their attention as they were holding less filters over their perception of the world.
Leah wasn't really the sort of growing boy who would got terribly hungry if he didn't eat between breakfast and noon, so he was only really taking a study break and walking around a little for a small snack -and the gossip mill was always ready to have another person turn it's long handle- before heading back to his Potions Assignment on the Properties of lacewing and puffskin in a variety of solutions.
Not easy, although it was hardly the worst of the essays he'd been given over his tenure at Hogwarts.

Still, this Transfiguration Club sounded rather up his ally. Admittedly, anything transfiguration was, but Leah would ignore that minor sentiment for the time being and probably try and brush up on some minor trivia before the club met. In all honesty, he wasn't the most talented in transfiguration in the rough age range of Hogwarts. However, he felt that he had a great deal more passion for it then many of the other subjects. Maybe it was a fools errand to compete with the 'best and brightest' but it was one he was going to do anyway.
Pulling out one of his ballpoint pens, he wrote the time and date of the first meeting for the club on his hand before entering the Great Hall for sustenance.

`~/|\~`

Leah knocked twice on the door, his hand somewhat impatiently on the knob already. He would wait politely for the Professor to alert him it was acceptable for him to enter the classroom, or if he didn't past the two minute mark, Leah would open the door himself to see if the man inhabited the classroom.

Or would it be more properly called a clubroom? Leah thought as he entered the area.
"Good evening Professor, thank you for going to the trouble of hosting this." Leah said as he moved far into into the room to see Professor Hayes.
He blinked as he noticed a distinct absence of other people in the room. Odd, he didn't think he was that early.

Keiran looked up at the entrance of the first student - a Ravenclaw from his class. "Hello, Mr. Valentai." He greeted lightly. Leah had seemed fairly interested in the class during their last lesson, and Keiran hoped other students would find themselves in the classroom to work on their skills as well.

The Professor was only slightly surprised, though he certainly hoped more students were interested in joining the two of them in their adventures into Transfiguration. If not, Keiran supposed it could be considered a lesson of some sort or tutoring. Every little bit helps, he knew.

"Sit wherever you like," He offered, gesturing to the floor he had set up for a meeting that would feel less like a class, "We'll give a few minutes to see if anyone else wants to join in."

There was always that awkwardness between teacher and student, especially at the beginning of the year. Deciding it would be helpful if he got to know his students, Keiran looked from the chalkboard to the boy nearby. "I hope school is treating you well thus far." He offered by way of conversation, giving the boy a small smile.
