Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Leo looked around at her fellow students. She felt inferior; her knowledge was that of a badger's, never a raven's. Avifors? It sounded lovely enough. But what was a bird if it wasn't a bird - and what of a question that isn't a question?

Always one to wonder, Leo examined the sheet of paper on her desk. It was a smooth, white sheet - nothing out of the ordinary. She ran her fingers over the sheet, idly. Looking back up at the professor, Leo shook her thoughts from her head and listened.

Romeo didn't reply to the Hufflepuff when she spoke, although he did smile politely. The last thing he wanted was for his head of house to frown upon him for being rude to a first year, who was probably just eager to make friends. But not with Romeo. Romeo couldn't be seen being 'friends' with a first year Hufflepuff. It'd ruin his reputation.

So they were going to be learning about avifors. That didn't seem too bad, a good way to start the lesson. It's just a shame he wouldn't be able to use it on humans, only skilled wizards could probably master that Romeo mused. Although there were plenty of Gryffindor's Romeo would love to see turned into birds.

The sheet of paper placed before him was old. The announcement was about a halloween party that had happened in Romeo's second year and the paper had started to yellow particularly bad around the edge. Thank the lord he would be transforming it soon, it really wasn't pleasant to look at and the headless student walking in the photograph plastered to the announcement was beginning to freak him out.

Romeo looked towards the Ravenclaw who'd answered the question. Great. Just when he wanted to show how good of a Slytherin he was to his new Head of House that loser had to answer it before him.... Bats? So you learn something new everyday. Romeo thought to himself as he looked back at the Professor, waiting to see what he said.

Great. This was just great.

It was her first class of the year and she was already late. At least she thought she was, there was still a minute or so before the class actually began but she mentally slapped herself for almost being late. She wasn't the type to be late, especially to her classes. She just hoped the professor wouldn't ask for a reason as to why she was late. It was something she'd rather not talk about, especially not during class.

She walked into the classroom, to find that the Professor had just begun the lesson, and she sighed. "Sorry I'm late Professor." she said softly, looking down. She shouldn't be apologizing for being late when she wasn't, yet she still was and she felt somewhat stupid shortly after she apologized. She couldn't help but apologize though, it was just the way she was.

She walked toward the back of the class, as she always did, and she couldn't help but notice something rather unsettling to her. Romeo Zabini was in this class, just as he was in her other class and she scoffed as she passed by him. Great. Another bad thing to add to the list. Today was definitely not her day. First, she found out that Naomi was in the hands of a Death Eater, and now this. This was awesome.

The first student to show an interesting in answering was the young Ravenclaw, who Keiran directed his attention to as the boy spoke. "Quite right, Mr. Lander." Keiran replied with a nod. "Five points to Ravenclaw." With a smile, he watched the other students to see if they had any other input on the question.

His attention, however, was drawn to the door as a Gryffindor came in, apologizing. Professor Hayes directed a frown in her direction, gesturing towards a seat. Sensibly, one would deduct points for a student being late. Something about Hitamé's face, however, made him take pause.

"Do try to plan ahead next time, Miss Higurashi." He said sternly, crossing his arms over his chest. He nearly took points from Gryffindor, but instead directed his attention towards the board once more. He wouldn't be known as that awful Slytherin Head of House like those before him could have been.

"Can anyone tell me any specifics about casting the spell?" He asked, searching for a specific detail. He tended to look for certain facts which he thought would be good reasons for earning House Points. As he waited for someone to raise their hand, he waved his wand at the board so it would write down the definition from their textbooks.

((OOC: Yes, that's fine. Just have your student "wait until he calls on them" or some such. Also, if your student wouldn't know anything about the spell, it's fine if no one gets it right. He'll just keep on.
Total Points: +5 Ravenclaw))

Leo shuffled a bit, desperately avoided her professor's eyes. She had no idea what the spell did. He wanted specifics? What did that even mean?

Her textbook laid in front of her, strewn this way and that. The words seemed to be gibberish - too many letters, too many letters. It really could use more pictures.

The professor seemed to be talking about something interesting - a spell that did something or other. It was probably important, something she'd need for the homework, but she could worry about that later.

Her fingers tapped at the desk, both hands moving in a disarray of patterns. Leo sighed. Now, to get through the class.
