Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Beetle Eyes Conquest - Page 7 Empty Re: Beetle Eyes Conquest

Sunny struggled as Vivi introduced a strange name of an ingredient, one obviously difficult for her to pronounce. "Cheese-purples?" she repeated, sounding incredulous as she said the word. As the words sprung from her lips, an image formed into her mind of a purple block of cheese. The little girl giggled.

She reached out her hands and cupped them so as to receive the fangs from her potions-mentor. She looked up at her new friend to hear about the creature. "Cool!" She dropped the fangs into the cauldron.

"Chiz-pur-fle," Vivianna sounded out slowly before coming to the conclusion that all things considered, Sunny wasn't too far off, "so close enough."

Hand hovering over the collection of vials for a moment, the witch found the one she was looking for and reached down to collect it. Unsealing the one pint container, the teenager handed it to Sunny. "You'll need to add the whole thing," the student informed the child. "It's horklump juice. Horklumps are little creatures that... look kinda like mushrooms, actually," Vivianna admitted, amused at her own deduction.

"Chizzz-purrrrr-fool." Sunny nodded. "Got it!"

"Hork...lump... juice," she mentally noted, taking the container and briefly sniffing it, because... why not? She nodded. "Mushrooms. I'll make sure to keep an eye out for... horklumps... from now on." She laughed, amused at the thought for whatever strange, childish reason, and then poured the ingredient into the cauldron.

Taking the empty container from Sunny, the witch placed it at the back of the table where the other ingredients they'd already used where placed. Pausing a moment to find the mortar and pestle, the teenager placed it right in front of the child.

"Now, we need to put the billywig sting slime, mint, boom berries, and stewed mandrake into the bowl here," Vivianna stated, ready to add each ingredient into the mortar as she gave Sunny a bit of background.

"Billywigs are little blue bug from Australia, they're in a lot of potions," the teen explained, measuring a precise amount of the thick slime into the mortar. "Boom berries are also used in potions a lot, since they have restorative properties," Vivianna said mindlessly while adding the small berries and nine mint leaves into the small bowl. Whilst adding a small amount of stewed mandrake, the Slytherin figured she might as well tell Sunny a bit about them too, "mandrakes are plants, but when pulled out of their soil they scream. The scream of a mandrake can kill you, so don't ever go pulling up plants if you don't know what they are." Picking up the pestle and holding it out to Sunny, the OWL student smiled, "we need to mash them all together now, I'll let you do the honors."

Vivi suddenly listed off a seemingly never ending list of ingredients and Sunny gaped at her with childlike confusion and wonder. She almost thought the elder redheaded girl would be unable, or unwilling, to describe with detail such a long list, but Sunny was pleased to be wrong in that sense.

"Plants can kill you?" Sunny said, almost fearful as her eyes widened. She mindlessly took the pestle from her before realizing she got to mash and mix up the ingredients in the bowl. She began to do so, suddenly pleased.

((Sorry. Catching up!))

"Yes, plants can kill you," the teenager responded as she watched the child mash up all the ingredients in the mortar. Vivianna had figured that the young girl would enjoy that particular job.

"That's why you need to be careful around things when you don't know what they are. If you uproot a mandrake, the scream could kill you. There's also a plant called a Venomous Tentacula that has a poisonous bite. As fun as magic can be, it can also do lots of non-fun things," the Slytherin couldn't help but explain. She was already growing attached, and the girl was practically the perfect example of every Gryffindor characteristic there was. Knowing the dangerous messes lions tended to get themselves into, the teenager felt obliged to give Sunny a bit of a reality check. If it scared her, then so be it.
