Talking to animals
Leo was never a very popular child. He knew he was differrent, and other children often viewed him as a bit of a weirdo. So, at lunch, Leo simply sat by the willow tree, and read. But on one particular day, Leo's daily routine was interrupted. An older boy had come over to him and snatched his book. "What you readin' this trash for, freak?" he had snarled. Now, Leo wasn't a violent boy, but of course, he wasn't going to just sit there. So he had jumped up and atempted to grab the book. it ripped. Leo was furious. At once, Leo had dived on the boy and started to hit, slap and puncture every inch of him that he could reach. It was then that Leo had heard it, a voice coming from above. He had looked up and seen a bird. it was talking! As leo had stood, poised to give the boy one more blow, it had spoken again. "You won't get much out of doing that" It had whistled to him. Then Leo had laughed, grabbed his book, trod on the boy's hand, and left. From then on, Leo has been able to talk to animals.

Parseltongue
Being descended from a line of muggles didn't bother Leo. he first questioned whether he would fit in at Hogwarts. but then he had decided soon after that it didn't matter whether you fit in, just how you deal with what yu get from others if you don't. Leo was a parselmouth. He could communicate with snakes. He always had been able to, but Leo didn't know the term or history of course. Or even that Parseltongue is traditionally the mark of a dark wizard. The first time Leo discovered that he could talk to snakes was when he was about six years old. He was in the park with his famiky, when he came across a grass snake in the bushes. He told it not to be scared, like he talked to all other animals. But then, to his astonishment, it had replied. Since then, Leo has talked to many other serpents in Parseltongue, merely wondering where he got this rare gift from. After joining Hogwarts, Leo had recieved a fair bit of critisicm about his being a muggleborn. He had dealt with it, but concluded finally to research his family history. He spent weeks during the holidays looking up his muggle anscestors, and even more time delving into school books on old ministry employees and aurors. Then, he found one. His great, great grandfather: Sebastian Prout. He was a pureblood ex-slytherin and head of his department at the misistry of magic. He had come from a long line of Slytherin purebloods, and what's more, he was a parselmouth!

Ability Desired: Telekenisis + Nonverbal Magic
A Detailed History Behind Said Ability:

Telekenisis-
Not many people in Yumi's family has this ability. It usually skips a generation, and it wasn't supposed to go into Yumi's generation. Her great grandmother had this ability and even though it wasn't supposed to go this way, Yumi's grandmother had this ability as well, but her mother didn't and it was thought that Yumi wouldn't have this ability either, but as it turns out she did gain the ability. Only her mother didn't, no one knows why this pattern happened the way it did, but that's how it happened. Yumi first found out that she had this ability on the day of her parent's deaths. She felt sad and angry about what was happening to her parents, and when the anger eventually took her over, small objects around her began to lift into the air. Of course she couldn't control what happened with them, and when she saw this she became confused and the objects fell back to the ground. She can only use this ability when she is angry about somthing or at someone.

Nonverbal Magic-
Nonverbal magic always sounded like an ability that was worth having to Yumi. She began studying it when she was younger but it wasn't untill she asked in class one day that she wanted to try learning it that she actually did. It was very hard at first and with Yumi's short temper she was giving up quickly. But her professor urged her to keep going and to do it calmly. Yumi did as she was told and with a lot of work and patience she finally managed to learn it well. But even now she sometimes can't do it well, sometimes the spell will come out wrong or it will just not work, but she keeps practicing it.

Leo - I'm not against you having the abilities you've chosen but it is going to have to be the case of one or another. Which one are you going to be able to push into roleplay more often and more effectively? The abilities are more than just ranks, they need to be used, so that's why I'm asking you to pick. Plus, they're both inherited abilities and it is preferred for characters to have only one inherent ability. Perhaps, if you wish to mix the two, he can understand Parseltongue but can't quite speak it.

Yumi - I think that for Yumi, telekinesis is not needed. I think what needs to happen is for non-verbal magic to be accepted then for her to go (IC) and learn wandless magic. That will bring back the inherited ability without the actual need for it. Does that sound good?

Ability Desired: Animagus - fennec fox
A Detailed History Behind Said Ability: A long time ago, Chase spent hours, and hours in the library, learning, researching, practicing her ability to become an animagus. She practiced for a long time, and her main problem was transforming back from being her animagus form, a fennec fox, and transforming back into being a human. Often she would need help concentrating, because she lost her train of thought so quickly when she was transformed. After her sixth year at Hogwarts, Chase's memory was wiped, and after that she forgot that she was an animagus, and never acted upon it.

Now that she's had her child, and her life has become somewhat normal, she's decided it's time to relearn, because she remembers her past after a near death experience, she wanted to relearn, but she became pregnant and afraid it would mess up the baby, so she stopped relearning. Now that she works in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, she is spending her time relearning it all. She still has the same old problem, transfiguring back from her fox form into her human form. But she's remembering more and more, and now that she's been forced to grow up after her child's birth, she has the ability to keep her concentration better, and has managed to transform a few times and back without issue. Not only will this help her in her.... hectic lifestyle, one that often includes the need to run (Fennec Foxes are very small animals), and she can use it for hiding, and getting away safely.

A Detailed History Behind Said Ability: Ryo first heard about becoming an animagus the summer before his third year at Hogwarts. He hadn't really meant to hear about it, but he was glad he did. His sister was talking to her friend, who had become an animagus recently. She was telling Ryo's sister how hard it was to become one, and how painful it was to transform into one. Ryo had become intrigued in animagus' after hearing everything the girl had said, and he began to learn everything he could about them and he practiced none stop, trying to become one.

It was hard work for the thirteen year old and it took him a long time to actually learn it. He had almost given up countless times, but then after his fifth year, during the summer he was able to get it and he transformed into a wolf with black-ish brown fur. He didn't tell him family about it, since they wouldn't listen to him anyways and he went ahead and tried to get accepted by the Ministry of Magic.

A Detailed History Behind Said Ability:

Telepathy:
James archer Mitchell, her father even though he was an Auror and became the brutal bane of her life. He taught her this in his spare time, thinking she would aid him in gaining valuable information from people he was black mailing at the time. But to his disappointment she would not use it, since she was scared to use it being only fifteen at the time, her heart was not on doing it for her abusive father. She decided only to use what he had taught her when she needed to and she did. She used it to find children who had been taken from their families.

Astral Projection:
Cassidy found out she has this ability when she found a diary belonging to her mother which told her that her mother could astral project and it was how she had found out her father had been using her mother for his own gain and was going to sell her to child traffickers. Though with her mother leaving she found she could one day during a brutal beating she found her self leaving her body even for a short time. Leaving her able to recover from it. Though as she grew she tried not to use it till she finished school as with her Telepathy she kept it hide using it only to help others when she could not get close enough physically to gain any information, it was how she had found out Robert Lupin was doing the same job.
