Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Hogwarts was holding out on her. Where were all these eligible men Danica had been told about, hmmm? And she did not mean Elijah Krum, no no no!

She'd *cough* overheard, some girls from this school talking about their favourite lost boy as though he was some catch. LOL. He was, apparently, their big man on campus, or whatever these English called it. Danica couldn't wait to get back to the ship and tell everyone the news.

But before she went back, she would seek out these so-called eligible bachelors Hogwarts was so full of. Danica had a use for a bachelor, eligible or not.

Naomi walked into the Great Hall, pushing the air that brushed the back of her neck away from her, and it sprung up. Her blonde hair was naturally frizzy and springy, though she put product in it to make it look like it was intentional, though it was the natural styling of it, not something she had picked up from a magazine... Though many people asked.

She plucked at the thigh length military jacket she wore, her Converse barely touching the ground as she walked into the Great Hall. She saw a few boys eye her and she kept her face forward; she knew that mystery only made them want her more.

She saw a Durmstrang girl near her usual spot and she continued walking, changing her path only very slightly to reach her. She sat down next to her and piled her usual breakfast of fruit and a bagel onto her plate. "You're from Durmstrang, right?" she said in her soft, mysterious voice.

Let us make something clear. German was not Danica's first language. And accordingly, English was not her second. Now, she may be competent enough to follow a conversation, but some things the English said made no sense at all.

Like the sentence that was spoken by the girl who rudely interrupted her search for men-things. From the way the girl acted, it must be completely normal for people to start conversations by stating the obvious. Possibly it was a cultural thing similar to the way people in her own country spoke about the weather when they had nothing of importance to say. Not wanting to offend, Danica responded in kind:

"You are from Hogwarts, right."

She was unsure what the last part had to do with the greeting, but decided it was best to play it safe. Perhaps the girl wished to indicate that she thought Durmstrang was a good school. Of course, it could just be that the girl was one bristle short of the full broom.

Naomi allowed for a small smile to appear on her face. The girl had obviously found the question stupid and Naomi knew it had been, but most people responded to such questions. Oh good, a teenage student with a brain. What a nice contrast to what she usually had to deal with. Maybe she would not have to indulge in meaningless conversation about shoes then.

"Yes... I suppose that was rather oblivious of me to ask." She smiled. "Yeah, I'm from Hogwarts. You don't mine me sitting here?" Not that it mattered. This was Naomi's usual spot and she did not plan on giving it up for the sake of being polite. She poured herself some pumpkin juice and took a sip, before looking back at the girl. "I'm Naomi." Never a last name. Why bring that into the equation?

OH it had been a question! Danica would have to remember to pay more attention, and it was a good thing she did because the girl immediately followed up with another of those silly English questions that relied on inflection instead of actually asking properly.

"Of course not," she muttered.

The other girl had introduced herself, so Danica thought it only polite to do the same. She was here in the name of international magical cooperation, wasn't she?

"My name is Danica," she replied. "So, will you be putting your name in the Goblet of Fire?"

Naomi nodded and offered her a small, faint smile that, if you looked closely enough, was not really there. Naomi had mastered the art of making it look as though she were smiling even when she was not. She was not a smiler, yet normal people smiled, and she knew it was unsafe to be unorthodox.

"Nice to meet you, Danica." Again, manners. Something she was not fond of, but it went alone with the act, so it must be maintained. She buttered her bagel with a read knife and tentatively bit into it. Not bad. She took a bite and set it down, washing it down with the pumpkin juice.

Danica asked her if she was going to be putting her name in the Goblet of Fire. "I don't think so. It's not really my forte. And I have enough to worry about as it was." She knew this was a lie. She was a couch potato compared to some, though she did not need the extra pressure.

Danica shared a smile with - yes, why not? With her new friend. She noticed that Naomi's smile didn't quite reach her eyes; you didn't go to Durmstrang without learning to see through deception like that, but Danica was confident it would become genuine in time.

"Oh," she said disappointedly, "but then, perhaps you can tell me who is going to put their name in. And who do you think will be Hogwart's Champion?"

Just because she was making friends didn't mean she shouldn't use the opportunity to do a little research on the matter at the same time...

Danica returned the question and asked if Naomi knew who would be submitting their names as Hogwarts champions. Naomi was deceptive and manipulative enough to know this request was not innocent, but that the girl was fishing for answers. Naomi, however, saw no harm to herself and decided to humor her.

"I know of a few. There's a few Ravenclaws, but only one is actually truly intelligent enough to get it, a girl named Amelia. Elijah Krum, possibly, though I'm not sure if he's ever been serious about anything in his life. And a few others, this one scruffy little troublemaker, a werewolf or two."

A hearty laugh echoed around the hall as Danica cracked up at the idea of Elijah entering the tournament.

"No," she shook her head to emphasise the unlikelihood of that coming to pass. "He would not dare it."

Lowering her voice, Danica went on:

"Did you not know? Krum ran away from Durmstrang because he was too soft. If he could not handle a simple school routine, how can he endure the trials of the Triwizard Tournament? Besides, he would not want to spend so much time in the company of those who know of his past."

She smiled mischeviously.

"I suppose it was careless of me to tell you that. Tell me about Amelia. Is she here in the Hall?"

With this, she stood and looked over at the blue bannered table, as if she could guess who the potential Champion was based solely on her appearance.

Naomi's eyebrow pricked up in interest, a feeling telling her that she was about to receive information that may be useful to her later. Danica recited a small little monologue about Elijah. Naomi knew he had attended Durmstrang briefly- who did not- but she had not known why he had left.

She had no problems with Elijah, for he could only be of use to her if she decided to utilize him, but she carefully filed the information into her mind for later use. Whether against him or to discredit him to someone, she knew that this information would have its plusses and minueses, but it was all for a bad cause.

This girl thought the way Naomi did as she pretended to act as though it was bad for her to have let slip. And now she was requiring information on Amelia. Naomi spoke this girl's language, so she was happy to inform her. "I don't think she's in here now. Probably studying or taking extra potions. She's the professor's favorite, the school overachiever, and the infamous know-it-all that haunts every school. Unfortunately, she actually has a brain, so you may find some competition with her."
