Snow and babies just ruin all the outdoor fun

(Ask anybody, ever since I joined back in 08, my titles have been laughably awful)

Ah January. The month of the year where it was usually the coldest of the winter season, and alas the snowiest. But there shouldn't have been this much snow, no no no, this snow just wouldn't seem stop falling, nor piling up. It almost seemed impossible to get rid of. Other than shoveling it all that is. It was like magic wouldn't work, all the fire charms and heating charms and suchlike charms that Nick had tried would just not work. It was almost like a magical snowfall that was conjured of by the likes of Merlin himself! Not only did the snow keep falling, but it was magically protected by spells it seemed.

But a little, or a lot, of snow wouldn't stop Nick from seeing his friend Adrienne on this day of days. She was a good friend of his, of which he didn't seem to have many these days. But in truth, he missed the young woman who of which was nearly close to having a child, which was the reason Nick had offered to meet her in her home, to limit her traveling with a soon to be born baby. Nick remembered when his ex wife Sarah was pregnant with his twin daughters, the cold and snow was bad, especially if she'd gotten severely sick.

After putting on his boots, heavy winter cloak, and other such winter gear, Nick had set out into the snowy blizzard mess. It only just took him double the time to get there of course because apperation in weather like this could cause splinching.

Arriving at the house address that Adrienne had given him, he knocked six times and waited to get out of the cold and snow.

You would have to forgive her for it, but Adrienne was most certainly not a fan of being pregnant. She just wasn't. It made her tired and grumpy, but the latter was mostly because she was more or less trapped in the house with all of the ridiculous snow, and her husband had to be away for work. Undoubtedly, he would return at the first sign of worry, but she was still impatient as ever. After much discussion and a bit of over-reacting on her part, he had decided to go anyway, which was likely for the better. If nothing else, it would ensure that he kept his position at the Ministry, though Adrienne couldn't claim that she had been worried about it.

In truth, she didn't understand why he was required to go, but knew that she had no right to ask him to stay. They had reached enough of an understanding that she could accept his trip and be comfortable with his traveling with the intern she had been so wary of before.

Since she and Nick had both had their reasons for leaving Hogwarts, though hers was more recent than his, so it had been quite some time since they had last seen each other. Not enough for them to stop getting in touch, of course, but long enough that they needed to get together and catch up a bit. So she had done her best to make the place look tidy, knowing that it was a bit much for two people so young just starting out. But Kaiden came from a family of money, and hers had not minded pitching in, despite her best efforts to convince them that it wasn't necessary. So as embarrassed she might have been by the excess of it all, Adrienne was grateful that those around her had ensured a safe and comfortable place for her to live and for the pair of them to raise their child.

Adrienne looked up at the sound of a knock at the door, a slightly bemused expression crossing her features when she caught how many times Nick rapped the door. She took longer than she cared to admit in order to cross the room, but she opened the door herself instead of with magic, stepping back to wave him inside.

"Sorry about the snow," she offered sarcastically, gesturing to the stupid stuff that covered essentially everything in her home. "It's a right mess. Hopefully things aren't too terribly messy at yours, Nick."
