Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Was it a good idea to bring animals into a class of people who were essentially children? Granted, most of the students at Hogwarts were teenagers, but sometimes Keiran worried slightly about involving animals in his lectures. It was necessary for their testing, however, so he accepted the fact that they would be involved.

Entering his classroom that morning for his third class, Professor Hayes made his way to the front of the room to check on the animals in their cages. There were a variety of animals on the front desk in their separate areas. He would assign the animals based on the level of the students in the class come time to practice the spells. His own animal was set on his desk in waiting.

After the class, of course, he would end up changing the animals back. As he always did, he wrote the lesson, turned the board to face away from the desks and awaited the entrance of his hopefully eager students from beside his desk as he let his hand rove over the top of the rabbit.

One of his favorite classes was of course transfiguration. It wasn't ironic until now that he had become a werewolf. He wanted to ask questions about his condition but he would reserve them for his friends because he didn't know how the professors would react if they new there was another werewolf among the students.Only Professor Alden knew about it well he might as well know if he was his sponsor.

He had expected to see an older professor. He looked young something that might have been an advantage or a disadvantage. He didn't think his patience would be over after a class with them but when he was going to the muggle school he was the class clown and the whole class was made up of troublemakers."Guid day Professor Hayes."He sat in the middle of the class and he was watching all the animals that seemed to be for his class which made him love this class even more.

Leah yawned widely, rubbing his eyes as the perpetual gloom of the library cloaked itself around him, nipping at his heels as he shifted in his seat- the shadows cackling in silent revelry.

Transfiguration poked itself at him from his schedule, and a number of textbooks lining the miniature 'Bookedge' he had made himself- a number of notes scratched over Sivarguld's "Sixty One and Back Again; Transfiguration's Applications." on his Chapter concerning it's use in domestic affairs such as targeting dust to attune itself to a more metallic nature and create a magnet of some description through transfiguration. The difficulty apparently was targeting the appropriate area of the house and reaching places where you didn't know the dust was- which required something else entirely. All in all, it was fairly minor compared to some of the texts on the subject out there.

One of which Leah was sorely tempted to revise before the lesson began, as it covered some of the effects you wanted to avoid as you cycled an object through the natures of reality 'til it landed on the desired status. Sometimes you got some awfully nasty combinations that blew up in your face, and the book instructed the individual on how to recognise and avoid these momentary combinations that could happen if you didn't 'guide' the transfiguration. As magic felt different for everybody, it gave the reader a mental basis and a visualisation 'databank' of sorts to allocate various feelings they could obtain from the transfiguration.

Scratching his nose in puzzlement, Leah scratched out a line he didn't like in his notes before waving his hand over his candle to blow it out. Call him lazy, but he tended to refrain from using magic when he could do it manually. A remnant of his mundane upbringing he assumed, but he also found a great deal more pleasure in accomplishing something minor then he did then with his wand.

Standing up, Leah rolled his shoulders while he collected the items he felt he'd need for the class before moving at a measured pace towards the wing where the transfiguration lectures were held.

`~/|\~`

Entering the classroom, Leah immediately became aware of the presence of the teacher and another student who was looking at- some animals. Or had been looking at them, which drew Leah's attention towards the beasts himself. They didn't seem to be ranged in any particular order, just in separate areas. Although each one definitely seemed to be set towards a specific 'niche' of size/biological complexity.

"Salve Professor," greeted Leah. Foreign languages were pretty compulsory in mundane schools, and he had opted out of French for Italian which had been the least popular choice by far. He didn't really mean to show off with it, but there was no real other way to keep in practise then to occasionally sub in and out the odd phrase or two in casual conversation where the meaning was unlikely to be missed.

Keiran looked up from the rabbit which had moved to perch itself on a book, he greeted the first student - a Hufflepuff - in return. "And to you as well, Mr. Crosby." Offering the boy a smile, he watched as William moved to observe the animals.

Noting how pleased the boy seemed to be, Keiran granted himself a moment of pride in his planning the class before realizing how ridiculous he was for doing so. Shaking the feeling off mentally, he allowed the rabbit a bit of freedom from his watch as he moved to sit down.

A second student made their way in after a short while, a Ravenclaw Keiran was quite sure was named Leah. Though the greeting was slightly different from one the Professor heard regularly, he smiled anyways.

"Salut." He replied, mostly jokingly. Though the student had clearly taken some language classes in his previous schools - or had picked it up from family, perhaps? - the only side language Keiran knew was a bit of French here and there. The greeting he used, for example, was one he had picked up during his years at University.

"Sit wherever you'd like." Keiran said to the boys, gesturing to the desks in the classroom. While the class sizes were smaller, he didn't want them to feel that they had to be confined to a certain area of the room. It was a surprisingly large classroom for the number of occupants it would have in a lesson.

Clara had taken to much time to find her books and stuff in common room so she was sure that she won't make it on the time to Transfiguration classroom. She walked towards that classroom so fast as she could, she didn't want to run and to be late at first day. She did take deep breath before she entered to classroom.

Transfiguration's was actually really not Clara's best subject but she can be good at it. Only then when she learns hard. She will make it through for sure, she will graduate this school year with good grades. That's what she atleast wants to do.

She did open the door and walked in. "Hello, sorry if I'm late," she said with smile and did take seat somewhere. She looked around and tried to understand what's going on.

A Gryffindor walked in and Keiran nodded to her in greeting as he returned to the front table where his assortment of animals resided. There would be an animal for each student - which made Professor Hayes look up and count those who were there. One student - a young Gryffindor, Keiran believed - had yet to arrive.

Class was due to start any minute so he shook his head in Clara's direction. "We're just about to get started," He replied.

After a few moments, he glanced up and saw that the time to start had come, and he didn't see a reason to keep the students waiting - for the most part, they seemed pretty excited about the class. Whenever the first year - Blaine - showed up, Keiran would see what had kept him from arriving on time.

"Today, we'll be working on a charm with the incantation, Vera Verto." Keiran informed them, "Raising your hands, please tell me what you know about this spell."

House points could be awarded for certain pieces of knowledge, he had decided earlier, and hoped the students gave him as much information as they could. If they weren't sure, he would start asking questions in the hopes that he could award points.
