Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Hey girls!

First up, I'd like to get you to try duelling each other. Let's say it's in the midst of some battle and you're on opposite sides. And I think I'll make it take place in The Hog's Head, so you have fittings and furniture to contend with as well.

When you do this, I want you both to take into account that your characters aren't just witches, they're also creatures. Decide what triggers the creature side of your character to show and incorporate that into your character's fighting style.

Also, keep in mind that both of you should get hit by spells occasionally, so choose your own spells carefully. When you cast a spell that can kill, you're basically guaranteeing that the person you're duelling will block or dodge. If you add in some less powerful spells, the duel becomes more fair for everyone, because you can hit someone with your spell, and the other person has the opportunity to be hit.

I hope that makes sense. I really hate being in fighting threads where I can't let my character be hit by anything because everyone's using curses that would kill or maim her.

I'll jump in every couple of posts and let you know how I think you're doing.

Softly, Brienne tiptoed through the darkened Hog's Head. All the lights and such had been dimmed or exploded, it was the midst of a large battle. She was in no need of any sense acuity spells, since she was a werewolf anyway. The moon was nearly out, it was to be full tonight. A good sign, her senses would be extra stimulated, and she'd be able to put a bunch of raw power behind her fighting. She was fighting to kill, as sure as everyone else was on the battle field. Bodies were tossed here and there, several with gruesome wounds likely afflicted by horrid curses. She felt the hairs rise on her neck and limbs, her eyes seemed to scan a cold gaze over the battle.

A stray man seemed to aim his wand at her, and she stared daggers at him. He froze, and she felt her transformation come on. The full moon's light hit her, and she howled. The man, whoever he was, started to run away from her, but it was no use. The chubby but strong werewolf grabbed him, slashed open his chest and throat, then threw the limp body to the ground. She started eating from the corpse, ripping strips of flesh from it, swallowing without chewing too much. She wasn't a tidy eater when she was a werewolf, but that was to be expected. She tasted alcohol on the man, something so strong her nose crumpled despite the fact that she was eating something that emitted more rancid smells.

Another man stepped forward, and threw a Cruciatus at Brienne. She dodged, and savagely pounced upon him. Her snout ripped out his still beating heart and she devoured it. This man looked a bit like Daniel, but wasn't because he was on the wrong side. He was on the wrong faction. Or was it Daniel? She didn't think so, but it might have been. She wasn't herself so she couldn't rationalize.

Christabelle ducked as a spell came flying towards her, almost hitting the ends of her curls. Damn that was close she thought as she whipped out her wand, aiming a stupefy spell directly at the person who had tried to hit her. This was completely ridiculous. She wasn't sure how it had started but she knew now that she was smack dab in the middle of it.

She noticed Brienne transform in to a wolf and shuddered. She couldn't blame the girl for wanting to do what she knew best to protect herself, however she despised werewolves being a vampire. Just something about them she couldn't stand. She pointed her wand at Brienne and said, "Averte Statura."

(Not sure if I spelled that right.)

She looked up from the eating just in time to get out of the way. She snarled, then threw a man's head at Christy. She wouldn't stand for people coming out of nowhere to attack her. Not like this. Never like this. That was foolish of her to do that, so she would fight. She'd fight to not get killed. She extended her claws and slashed at the woman several times, hoping to at least make one devastating blow or connect at least one of them. That was hard to do, though, because this woman was good at fighting as she knew. Instead of only using her hands, she used the claws on her feet too. Melee combat was not the best choice, but Brienne seemed to forget the spells she had in mind to duel. She seemed to forget them in a sea of confusion and violence.

Her mind was not in the right state to do much of anything, Brienne was a werewolf that had transformed. She had been hungry, ate something she'd normally not, and was now being attacked. How could the night get worse? Wait, don't answer that. The answer would be soon to come, probably.
