And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Lesson 3 - Basic Level Empty Lesson 3 - Basic Level

Post by James William Wilson Tue Oct 05, 2010 5:36 pm

Wilson entered his classroom. It was empty, for now, but soon... his students will arrive, thinking they can do what they want, as it is with the majority of them. He had finally begun with teaching some relevant subjects, meaning he had finished with those boring and stressing introductory classes. He waved his hand, and text appeared on the board, with the usual not to copy it down. As soon as they were all present, he would start with the class.

Sam walked into the DADA classroom and noticed he was the first to arrive, a welcome surprise no doubt, but a surprise nonetheless. "Good Morning Sir," he said, nodding to the professor and taking his seat towards the centre of the class. "How are you this morning?" he asked as he rummaged through his bag, pulling out his books and quill for this class, before pulling his wand out of his pocket and laying it on the table.

He then looked up at the board and nodded, copying what was up there

Leslie walked into the classroom ashame of herself for she missed the first lesson back for she gotten sick and wasn't able to attend her classes. "Morning Professor."said Leslie softly taking a seat not to far from a Gryffindor that was her age. Getting out her books, parchment and laid them neatly on her desk just in case she needed to take notes. As she gotten her wand out from the inside pocket of her Gryffindor robe she set it down on her desk waiting for class to begin. As she turned to the boy she didn't know she gave him a soft warm smile. "Hello my name is Leslie, Leslie Darling."said Leslie softly.

Aurora stumbled into the room like she had the day before but was even quicker with picking her things up and going to a desk. On her way to her desk she nodded towards the professor telling him hello and that she was alright. Auror was tired of her broken arm but she was living what she got from not letting anyone heal it. She noticed that there were only gryffindors here but she didnt really care about that, As long as she wasnt late she was fine.

Luna walked into the classroom and took her seat. She was being followed by Ezra, who repeatedly poked her, but she wouldn't complain. Not that she'd want to complain, that wasn't in her or her father's nature to complain. At least, she thought it wasn't. She wanted to be just like him, and when she screwed it up she was always hard on herself, but others wouldn't really know the significance of why she wanted to be like her father. All they knew was that she tried too hard. Well, she was a Hufflepuff, and that house was for people known to try hard, sometimes too much so. She opened her books and flipped through it to what they'd learn today.

Ezra sat a couple seats away from her, and did the same thing. He wasn't interested in her, though. He was interested at what was outside the window. A small bird sat on the windowsill, and he observed it carefully. He thought of chasing it away since he feared that one of the others would kill or injure it, but didn't. Instead, he continued to look down at his text.

Andrew had lingered a bit longer than usual over his breakfast, just because he was feeling a trifle lazy today. The crisp fall weather had made him want to curl up under his blankets just awhile longer today, but he had forced himself to get up and get ready for class. He had found some hot spiced cider at the breakfast table today, and it had been a pleasant treat. He had taken his time over his second mugful before tearing himself away, a bit regretfully, and had made his way to the DADA classroom.

"Good morning, Professor Wilson," Andrew said, as he entered. He chose his seat, sat down, took his materials out of his backpack and settled into the now familiar routine of copying Wilson's notes from the blackboard. Hm..Protego spell? He had read about that in his text but he had never tried it. That did sound very useful indeed.

Protego, the basic defensive spell you should have probably heard about. Like Stupefy, it is the basic spell used in dueling and you will come out of this class knowing how to use that spell. The spell mentioned creates a shield that will deflect some spells, but only those whose level of strength isn't high enough, meaning that you won't be able to defend yourselves from stronger spells. For that, there are two spells, but you will be learning about them during your N.E.W.T. classes. Nye and the new girl, Grigori and you with the long name... and you boy, Diamond... you'll practice with me, as usual. You shall fire Stupefy at your opponents, and their goal will be to deflect it using today's spell. You can all begin and you boy, come over here and whenever you are ready'', he said.

Sam turned and smiled at Leslie, a girl in his grade from Gryffindor. "Hey," he said, nodding to her, "I'm Samuel," he told her, a grin on his face, "Samuel Grigori, but you can call me Sam," he told her with a wink. "Nice to meet you," he said, the last few words as a whisper as the teacher began.

Listening to what the teacher had to say he nodded, the notes did seem rather sufficient for the class' content, but he'd have minded a demonstration, personally. That was just him though. Standing up he looked around and saw the "Girl with the long name," he walked over to her. "Shall we get practicing then?" He asked, bowing at her before raising his wand. "Ladies first," he said, gesturing for her to try and get him with her spell.

Andrew drew forth his wand and got up from his seat. He looked at his classmates and smiled, to show them he had no ill will towards any of them. He went over to Professor Wilson and stood with him. Andrew had read the chapter on the Protego spell already, and it seemed like it should be easy enough for his classmates to do. And he didn't imagine that his stupefy would really go through their protegos. Now, Professor Wilson's spells were another matter entirely. That was likely to knock them into next week, if he fired full strength at them.

He had no idea whatsoever how his own Protego would fare, but he truly wanted to find out. He sttod with his wand at the ready, waiting for someone to fire at him and Professor Wilson. He didn't figure they would have the guts to fire at the Professor. Andrew knew he was the more likely target.

Luna got sick and tired of being called "Girl with long name", but she'd better get used to it. Well, she had to, or else she'd be kicked out of class. She'd be kicked out and she'd never be like Silas, the man she called her father for all of her life, and a small fraction of his. The one that was cut tragically short. She turned to face Samuel. "Oh, umm hi. I suppose I go first?" She gripped her wand and said "Stupefy". She made a flicking motion with the wand, and fired the spell at the boy. "Grigori is a nice last name. I only ever heard it used as a first name though..."
