Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Charms Class 4 Empty Charms Class 4

Post by Mathias Korpela Sat Dec 01, 2012 6:00 pm

Mathias was humming to himself as he began to prepare for his first class as an actual professor! He had been delighted to receive the assignment as Charms instructor because charms were his favorite sort of wand work. There was a much bigger area available for individual preference in charms, it being so much less scientific than transfiguration. Wand movements need not to be exact to get the desired result.

It had been difficult coming up with a lesson for students whose years ranged from first year to their graduation year, so Mathias had set up a few different assignments which would be based on who showed up for class. He hoped they were fun and that the students would enjoy them. He had been up all night working on a fantastic first day.

At the moment, Mathias was at work with one of his least favorite subjects, Transfiguration, in order to suit the classroom more to his style. Any surface with sharp angles or straight ledges were being transformed into curves. The straight rows of benches that had been on the one side of the classroom were now circling the class like an arena. Mathias detested geometrical conformity.

On the blackboard, now circular in shape, rather than square; he had written:

Welcome to Charms! I am your new professor, Mathias Korpela. We are redecorating the room today before we start our lessons. Pick a place to sit and transform it to suit your preferences. A comfortable class is a happy class!

Mathias' own desk had been transformed in such a way. The desk was curved into what resembled a crescent moon. A purple tablecloth was spread across it, adorned with a large ornamental sun. A mobile of realistic-looking planets was rotating around the sun in the air above his desk.

((Got a week to post your entrances into the classroom. Feel free to chat among one another until class starts. Class starts on the 8th of December, so if your first post occurs after that date, then you are tardy. Class will end on the 31st of December.))

Nick had woke up this morning not wanting to go to Charms class, but he didn't want to fail his Seventh Year again. Nick strode into a classroom and saw that another student had already arrived. Nick changed his chair into a big soft bright neon red one. He changed his desk into a metal one with a crate attached to the side so he could put his books somewhere out of the way. Nick sat down waiting for class to start, also seeing that they had a new professor.

NOM NOM NOM CHARMS. One of Lucy's favouritest classes. Much better than transfiguration, which she had to try way more hard in (though it was way better now that the sexist pig had left, or died or whatever happened to him).

"Cool," she said as she skipped to the desk diagonally down from Selwyn.

That boy was entertainment value but she didn't want to be too near him. Specially after The Incident.

Unlike the others, who were slacking off, Lucy wasted no time before transfiguring her chair into one with a swivel and began swivelling back and forth immediately, which she found soothing but was bound to get on someone's nerves eventually. The rest she left as it was. She had no problem with the plain wooden desks of the charms classroom.

Jason ran full speed into the Charms classroom, barely managing to stop himself from running into one of the re-positioned benches. His sneakers squeaked against the floor as he skidded to a stop, throwing his arms out to keep from colliding with the corner of the bench.

Jason looked around for anyone he may know, but he seemed to be the only first year to have arrived at class for the moment. Wanting to save seats for his fellow first years, Jason found a place a bit away from everyone else towards the front of the class. He didn't know very many spells yet, but he did know the color-changing spell and began to change the colors of the desks near him to reflect the House colors. He made his own desk on the corner, turning it blue. The desk to the left of him was transformed into red for Sean, the desk directly behind him was green or Aurella, and he turned the desk behind Sean blue for Quelyn. Once he got the colors down to perfection, Jason unrolled a long stretch of parchment and rose the words '1st Years' on it and stretched it between his and Sean's desk. He then sat in the desk he had assigned for himself, confident that the others would join him upon seeing the hard work he had put into their 'area.'

Charms Class 4 Empty Re: Charms Class 4

Post by Marguerite de Lancret Tue Dec 04, 2012 1:36 am

The moment Marguerite entered the classroom, her eyes fell on Lucy. Wanting to avoid any disaster which may be generated around the girl, Marguerite made her way towards Selwyn. She knew the lad didn't like her, but she figured if class got too dull, she could annoy him for fun....or perhaps use him for a shield should anything Lucy was levitating at the time came flying near them.

Marguerite inched her way towards the desk next to Selwyn, purposely bumping the chair he was leaned back on.

"Oh! I am so sorry!" she exclaimed, putting her hand over her mouth in mock concern.

Post by Asuna Mitchell Sat Dec 08, 2012 12:37 am

Asuna leisurely walked into the class. She hated being late to her classes. It made a bad impression on the professor if a student was late all the time. She was not overly concerned with her appearance, but she did care about what her professors thought of her. They were the ones who would determine if she would be able to pass her classes and teach her all about magic.

She paused as she considered where to sit. The only person from her House who was there already was that Potter guy in the seventh year. She sighed. Oh well. She chose to sit in a spot two spots down from her fellow Gryffindor.

Her mood brightened when she saw the board. A chance to express her individuality was always neat to see in a teacher. Before she sat down she waved her wand to transfigure it to have a comfier seat with a scarlet and gold color theme, not too bright. Then, she flicked her wand to change the wood of the desk to a dark mahogany. She gently sat down. “Now, that’s better,” she said aloud after she set her book, parchment, and quill on the dark wood of the desk.

Cassie stood stunned in the doorway of the charms classroom. Most of her friends were mere acquaintances she knew from the dark followers and none of them were in this room, but there was no guarantee someone wouldn't show up. Oh, seating arrangements were always so complicated.

She didn't have the courage to sit near the seventh year boy. And she wasn't going to sit near the vampire girl; she seemed to attract bad luck. Lucy Weasley seemed nice enough, but she was a Weasley.

In the end, Cassie found herself drawn toward the area that was clearly marked for first years, and sat down a few rows behind that to make it clear that she certainly wasn't one of them, either.

Post by Derry Flanagan Sat Dec 08, 2012 10:49 pm

Derry sprinted into class and sighed in relief to realize he wasn't all that late. Panting, he bent in half as he took the time to catch his breath. When Derry finally looked up, he spotted Marguerite instantly. "Aha! It's my favorite gal!" he called out happily from the other side of the class.

He jogged his way towards her, avoiding the desks as best he could - and still bumping himself several times. "How's it going, Marguerite?" he asked her cheerfully. "Hey! Look, i got you flowers." Derry rummaged in his coat pocket to take out a few wildflowers he had found earlier outside. They would have been rather pretty, if it weren't for the fact that they had gotten crushed in his pocket and the flowers hung limply in his hand. He handed them to her all the same, proud of his romantic gesture.

"Who's your friend?" he asked, his eyes narrowing jealously at Selwyn. "She's my uh..sort of girlfriend, ok? So don't you stare at her lady parts, you hear?" Derry said to the Slytherin boy in a warning sort of tone. He didn't really know the kid, having rarely talked to him.
