Peace Shattered?

Jayden continued to look at Ritual with a questioning look. He had never seen his snake look at anything so intently, ever. Ritual usually lost interest in everything quickly, but she didn't seem to be losing interest in the chameleon. "I - I have no idea why she's staring at him. She doesn't do this usually." he said. "What's wrong Ritual?" he asked the snake. Ritual gave no response. "Ritual?" he asked, waving his hand In front of the snake. Ritual blinked and looked at Jayden. She said It was nothing and left It at that. Jayden, though he was still confused as to what that had been about, left it at that as well.

"Sorry about that. I don't know what got into her." he apologized softly. It made him wonder, why sue had just been staring at the chameleon. He looked back down at Ritual, and he noticed that she seemed to havr lost interest now. That was odd, how does she go from being so interested in the chameleon to not being interested at all? He really didn't understand what went through the snake's mind, and he doubted that he would ever actually know what would go through her mind.

The snake continued to stare, and Darwin stared at it with a look of unease and uncertainty. Wally stared at the snake as though she were staring at someone in class who had crossed her and she was trying to figure out which choke hold would work the best. She was not going to attack a defenseless snake, of course, but any possible threat against Darwin did not go unchecked by the youngest Abercrombie. She was incredibly protective of her little creature, since he was really the only thing that stuck with her. She would not have some wimpy little snake decide that Darwin would make a better dinner than he did a friend. Over her karate-kicking body would Wally allow that to happen.

The boy spoke to the snake but seemingly got no answers. Wally arched a questioning eyebrow. "Someone who can speak to animals doesn't know the whims of their own pets?" She picked up a nearby newt and held it up. "Ask it how long we've been in this tree."

Jayden way really wondering why Ritual had been staring at the chameleon so intently. It wasn't like her, that had just been so weird. It was like she had seen something interesting in the chameleon, but she hadn't at the same time. Ritual was a weird snake, that was all he knew. That was normal for him though, weird things were more normal than anything to Jayden. Probably because he has never truly been normal in his life.

Jayden frowned a bit at Wally. "It's hard to read Ritual. She's always been able to hide any kind of expressuon from me, and when she doesn't answer me, its usually because she's in deep thought about something." he said. "Or she's mad at me." he added, chuckling. He looked at the newt Wally held up and he smiled. "Alright." he said. He looked at the newt and said, "How long have you been in the tree?" he asked it softly, with a smile.

Wally was sitting on the edge of the branch, one hand holding the branch carefully to ensure that she did not accidentally fall out of the tree- though she doubted she ever would fall out, for she was far too resourceful and adventurous. She was an adept tree climber and would not so easily fall. The boy made a ton of excuses about the creepy little snake- Wally liked animals, but the snake was picturing Darwin as dinner, putting the thing in her bad books. The boy asked the newt and Wally stared at it, then at the boy. Finally, she looked at the kid, Jayden, and said, "Well? What'd he say?"
