A Late Start

When Cecilia finally woke up the sun was already climbing high in the sky. “Oh my,” She said to herself as she got out of her bed and walked toward the foot of the bed where her trunk sat, “I’ve nearly slept half the day away.” She shrugged and dug a simple black dress out of her trunk along with a black and gold belt, and gold booties. “This should be good.” She said going to get dressed. She then brushed her hair and teeth before finding some accessories for her outfit. “Hmm should I wear this one or this one?” she asked out loud holding up two necklaces and eventually chose the first which was just a simple black feather pendent on a chain. She also chose a black and gold flower ring with seven small diamonds in the middle, some black and gold bangles, and a pair of dangly earrings. “This is perfect!” she exclaimed and closed her trunk before walking out of the girls dormitory, though the Ravenclaw Common room and out into the hall way. “I think it’s time for lunch,” She said and started down the hallway towards the grand stair case and down the stairs to the great hall.
Cecilia smiled as she pushed the door open breathing in the wonderful smells that came from the tables. She walked over to one of the tables at random and sat down. Picking up napkin she carefully unfolded it and placed it in her lap before looking around at the food. Now looking at the food she realized she wasn’t really hungry. Or maybe she was hungry but nothing looked appetizing. Sighing she place some grapes and other fruits on her plate and slowly ate it unhappily. “What is this stuff they call food?” she asked herself. As she at the fruit that didn’t even seem real. “No greens? All deserts and random parts of animals? This can’t be right.” She shrugged and continued eating in silence.

The man who seemed to tower above the students that scuttled under his feet bore the weight of death on his shoulders. Not his own, mind you, but that of his uncle. Elijah had yet to truly claim responsibility for his wrongdoing there. He had no sympathy for the man and his heart certainly held no remorse. He was morbidly amused by his relatives that approached him with the same ease as they had done before; they didn’t know yet. It was a family thing, naturally, and as such, it was kept very hush-hush. He would stop and stare for a few moments at the smiling family member who would falter a little at his silence, scuff his or her shoe against the stone floor and hurry off past him down the hallway in order to escape his confused, penetrating gaze.

Elijah had felt the force of his family. In Britain he could not be punished for his crimes if they so wished to punish him for it. He had grabbed what he’d needed in his haste to leave the manor. He was thankful that he didn’t hold anything particularly dear to him within the ornamental walls. Everything he needed was already in his trunk at Hogwarts. He’d left it there, the feeling of impending doom at the time of his going home too strong for him to really ignore. He was infinitely glad he did, now. What he would have done with so little in the way of effects he did not know.

Today, he sought refuge in the Great Hall. Usually he would've retreated to the kitchens but he could not put up with the incessant chatter from the House Elves; not today. Shrugging off the cold, Elijah stepped over the threshold of the hall and headed towards the Slytherin table where he placed himself down by a window. He twisted round so his left shoulder was facing it and turned his head towards the watery sunshine that was falling through the glass and illuminating the table. Elijah inhaled gently and exhaled out that same breath before reaching forward and picking up a peach that he promptly bit into.

Mmm...

(OOC: During Christmas, Elijah killed his and Cecilia's uncle - Viktor's brother - because Elijah finally remembered that it was Stefan (their uncle) who tried to kill him and succeeded in killing Marina. Viktor disowned him but hasn't told the rest of the family yet - or the world - so no one knows; not even Cecilia.)

(OOC: As always Cecilia is left in the cold! If she did know she wouldn’t accept it anyway. And I’m sorry for the way Cecilia’s acting right now…. I’m still a little in the Rena mind frame.)


“Eli?” Cecilia said quietly narrowing her eyebrows. She thought it was her elder brother but at first she didn’t recognize him. When she finely came to the conclusion that the person she was looking at was her big brother she stood and went over to the Slyithern table. “Hey, big brother!” she said in a happy sing song voice, “What’s up?” She rocked back and forth on her feet as she waited for his reply. She pulled her hair over her shoulder and ran her fingers through it. The sixteen year old quietly wondered how he could eat that peach it looked gross, even more so than the other stuff like eggs that sat around the table. “May I sit here for a while? And may I ask you a question or two?” she bit her lip and looked at him with pleading eyes.
Cec was hoping that if anyone knew the answers to her questions it would be Eli. Before he could answer she sat down next to him on the bench and placed her hands in her lap and crossed her legs at the ankle tucking them back under the bench. She tucked her hair behind her right ear and smiled at her brother. It had felt like they hadn’t talked in forever let alone seen one another.

There was something sickeningly out of place about the chirpiness of his sister. Elijah had been well aware of her little accident and the game Viktor had wanted to play as a result of it. He wanted Cecilia manipulated, he wanted her to forget in order to encourage her into the arms of someone he deemed suitable for marriage. At this point in time, though, Elijah had no energy to put up with the charade. He was merely sat there with the intention of enjoying his peach and not attracting attention; especially not from her. It wasn't that he disliked his sister - rather the opposite in fact - but he didn't honestly feel he wanted to deal with her false yet genuine chirpiness at this point in time. Ever, in fact.

Sighing, Elijah gestured briefly for her to take a seat - which she did with little hesitation. Elijah reapplied his grip around the peach in his palm and observed his sister for a few moments before sighing again and shrugging his shoulders, giving a vague gesture of allowance. He would allow her to ask her questions but he was not obligated to tell the truth of the matter. He wasn't going to mention that to her. Instead he said, "Ask away."

Cecilia raised an eyebrow at him but quickly dismissed the fact that he seemed absorbed in his peach. She looked at him and then out the window before looking at her big brother again. “Was I a bad person before the accident? Like was I mean, or rude?” she asked a questioning look on her face. She tilted her head to the side as she waited for his answers. “And how can you eat that? It looks like baby poop.” She shook her head trying to get the image of a dirty dipper out of her head because if she didn’t she was sure to barf. She sat quietly for a few minutes before asking the one thing that was really on her mind, the only thing that was always on her mind. “What did I do to scare daddy so much that he won’t let me remember?”
Waiting for his answers was torcher for the sixteen year old girl. She had finally decided that she did want to know, and now she didn’t think she could wait for the truth any more. She was scared to know the truth. What if her fears about her being a mean and rude person were true? What if she had done something horrible like, she couldn’t think of anything at the moment but there had to be many things.
