Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

    PATRONUS: (Best Memory.)
Sitting with her mother in Diagon Alley for a break during school supply shopping for her first year. It was her first Hogwarts letter, her first trip for supplies, and for the first time her mother took her to her own salon and had Cassandra's hair done by her own stylist. Sitting at a table outside drinking something fruity, her mother talked to her like an adult for the first time, telling her how proud she was and how she'd knew Cassandra would do well, and told her all the things a girl needed to know, away from home for the first time.

    DEMENTOR: (Worst Memory.)
Her favorite uncle, Paul, was in muggle London visiting his young squib niece, when he suddenly had a heart attack. She didn't know what to do nor did her mother, and Paul's brother who had given up magic to live with his squib wife rushed him to a muggle hospital but it was too late. Cassandra was five and remembered her aunt's wailing in the hallway and her mom screaming at aunt Shelly, blaming her and her daughter. Cassandra backed up to get out of the way and found herself in the room with her uncle. He didn't look dead, but she knew he was. She came closer, and touched his hand, and started to say goodbye, when his hand spasmed, grabbing hers. She tried to scream but at first all that came out was a squeaky gasp. By the time she managed to unclench his fingers from hers, she was in full swing, screaming at the top of her lungs, until the nurses dragged her out, and her and her mom were sedated and laid on a cot in another room until they were calmer. Unfortunately the drugs blurred her memory around the edges and for years she had nightmares of her uncle Paul dragging her into his coffin with him.

    VERITASERUM: (Greatest secret.)
Her hair is ash blonde as a toddler, it darkened to a honey blonde, almost light brown, and she's been lightening it ever since starting Hogwarts.

    MIRROR OF ERISED: (Greatest Desire.)
To be glamorous and wealthy and gorgeous for as long as possible.

An uncle on her father's side, and a few cousins scattered here and there.

    RACE: human

    SOCIAL STATUS: upper middle class

    PET(S): cat, snowflake

Early Years: (At least 1 paragraph of your characters history during ages 1-11.)
Cassandra has had a fairly happy life as an only child. while most children wanted a brother or sister, she preferred
her dolls, as they did as they were told, and didn't cry when she cut their hair or gave them tattoos with a scratchy quill.
While her father spoiled her with love and toys, her mother was more influential, allowing Cassandra trips to watch her
in the salon, making it sound like a rare treat. It gave her an early interest in appearance and grooming, though perhaps a bit more than her mother might have liked. A patient and kind woman, she gently schooled Cassandra and led her to more ladylike pursuits such as making tea and having tea parties and socializing, keeping her away from tree climbing and chasing frogs like some of the less supervised little girls her age were allowed to do.
She liked that life, and found she had no urges to become the tomboy that she had seen when her mother went to visit less privileged homes, and found herself disinterested and bored when faced with some messy little girl who wanted to run into mud puddles or make mudpies or do anything that might stain her clothes.

Unlike some children who resented getting clothes for Christmas, for her it was a joy, as her mother usually made smaller versions for her dolls so they matched, right down to little satin slippers. There wasn't a Christmas or birthday that went by that her favorite doll wasn't seated in a place of honor next to her, hair similarly styled, wearing the same fluffly frock.
Overall she was happy and well mannered and excited to go to Hogwarts and meet other girls like herself, even if she was a little nervous.

Hogwarts Years: Cassandra was in for a culture shock at Hogwarts. The food was different, there was nobody to pick up after her, and her classmates were uncouth. She kept her opinions to herself mostly, but it wore on her nerves to see people
chewing with their mouths open, reaching across the table for things instead of asking them to be passed over, and chewing gum and popping it like a cow chewing cud. Her dorm mates weren't much help at first either. Many of them were slobs, throwing clothes and shoes everywhere, though to be honest with the poor quality of some of their belongings, they weren't doing much damage by leaving them lying around. It was the general lack of tidiness that grated on her.

Things got much better at second year, as she and a few of her like minded classmates connived to switch dorms until they were all together. From then on, it mostly went like that, except for a few times when someone fell through the cracks and ended up with them, and they obviously didn't belong. They usually learned quick though. Nothing changes a person's nasty habits than a roomful of sneers and a few arched eyebrows looking like they said, 'well what do you expect from someone of that class?' and silent sidelong glares.

Classes were interesting, if somewhat messy. Finally being able to practice magic, even if it was only class related, was something she couldn't wait to learn more of. Sure, she slacked off on her homework, but it was easy to get some unfortunate student who needed a few galleons to polish up her work, especially when the end of year was coming around. After all, she couldn't socialize AND do O level work now could she?

Adulthood: (At least 1 paragraph of your characters history after Hogwarts)

    YOUR NAME: Cass is fine

RP EXPERIENCE: Me rp you long time. (over nine years)
HOW YOU FOUND US: Jazmin Roberts

She was sweaty, damp and exultant. The sun shone in the window, blinding her momentarily, and she blinked, before regaining her focus. This was what she loved best. She knelt and breathed deeply, enjoying this part of it as much as the finish. She took another deep breath and whispered words of love, inspiration and passion. This was what she lived for. Flushed and nearly finished, she spared a second to push her hair over her shoulder before continuing. She let out a small moan and bit her lip, trying to stay silent, but it was difficult. This was going much better than she ever thought it would. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw her partner's puzzled frown and shook her head. She didn't want him asking any needless questions that would distract her and ruin the moment. Red, blue, fuchsia, a million colors filled her vision all at once, and she beamed, so full of joy it was obvious if anyone else could have seen her face in that moment.

Her partner didn't seem to notice, so caught was he in his own part of this. His robes were askew, his tie loosened, and he was nearly as sweaty as Cassandra. Neither seemed to care, they just kept on, as if the situation had a mind of its own, needed to reach its finish to the exclusion of all else. As if spurred on at the near finish of what they were doing, Cassandra moved faster, all the while snatches of past experiences like this came back to her as she strove to completion. They were running out of time. Smoke and incense, precise movements, softly whispered incantations, all learned through trial and error, all the things that she had experienced with this very occupation were on the edges of her memory, and with great reluctance shut them out. She concentrated on the moment, knowing the satisfaction that would result for them both. She laughed, much to the confusion of her partner, some random Hufflepuff she grabbed at the last moment.

Then suddenly all was silent. A breeze wafted past them, and they tried to straighten themselves up, feeling a little foolish at being so intensely involved in what they were doing they took no notice of anything, even the time. As they began to rearrange themselves and make themselves more orderly, ties straightened, shirts tucked in, robes re-buttoned, they heard a familiar voice, calling for a halt to all activity. Cassandra grinned sheepishly, and began to clean up the area, packing her personal items, and heard her Hufflepuff companion doing the same. They ignored the whispers of their classmates, and waited for the results. They didn't have long to wait, however. On the board the results began to appear, and both of theirs had an Outstanding next to them. She smiled this time in relief, and hoped Potions class would be this rewarding all year.
