Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. "How did we get here? When I used to know you so well..." Sapphire was sitting in the Astronomy Tower singing to a song she had learned a few weeks ago. It was a few years old but the song was awesome. She was a weirdo.... but she was proud to be one. Everybody made fun of her for the way she dressed or the way she acted, but it was the way she was and she wouldn't change because of what people said about her.

She had come up to the Astronomy Tower to get away from the people who wanted her to change the way she was. This tower was the only place where she could act the way she wanted to act, and this was the only place where she could be as loud as she wanted to. It was fun to be loud and she loved it.

"How did we get here? I think I KNOOOW- OOOOW- OOOW!!" She sang loudly not caring if anyone actually heard what she sang. She began to twirl around in the tower imitating the singer and acting like she was playing a guitar. She banged her head side to side and let her hair go everywhere, flipping it around as fast and as hard as she could.

(Sorry it's so crappy)

(( OOC: ^_^ No, it's not . ))

Sabriel was hiding.

Well, he would not call it hiding. He was solitary by nature. He liked to be alone. So when he entered the Great Hall and realized he would not quite be able to handle the sudden multitude of students swarming inside for study sessions, he fled to the nearest staircase and started to climb. If he happened to find a large group of children along the way, he would simply head in the opposite direction. But for now, he contented in meandering slowly. Enjoying the shadows cast by the torches. The distant giggles and laughs of nearby (or faraway) students reached his ears.

Sabriel had pulled most of his hair back into a tight, bouncy ponytail. His bangs and forelocks fell forward, gently curving at his jawline and tinted a loud red in the torchlight. It was a far cry from its typical pale blonde. His eyes were elegant and expressive, very much the same metallic shade of the sky during light drizzle. Finally, he was short but lean. Lithe.

To most people, it would have been a girl meandering the halls of Hogwarts. But people knew Sabriel Eurora. Nowadays, only mostly First Years tried to approach him. Nevertheless, he got love letters on a daily basis from both females and males too shy to introduce themselves physically.

Student traffic was getting lower and lower as he moved along. He was going up levels, and he knew he was nearing the entrance to Astronomy. He smiled nostalgically; he had taken this class in his Third Year. It was pleasant enough; it was always nice gazing at all the stars.

But then something broke the silence. It was a voice, feminine in its own right, and it was singing.

Despite the silence being gone now, Sabriel found that the tranquility remained. Whoever was singing, their voice was wonderfully melodic. It was an upbeat song -- Sabriel listened to the lyrics -- and apparently about "getting somewhere". He did not recognize it.

Sabriel stepped into the tower, finding a young girl with wild hair and leaping all over the place, Sabriel had half an urge to turn back around. But she was a singer, no doubt. And quite a wonderful one. Sabriel appreciated her voice, and realized that leaving would be rude and unreasonable of him.

He simply stood there and waited.

This song was so awesome, Sapphire could actually relate her personality to the song. It was upbeat and happy like she was. But it was also confused, and she was like that sometimes. There was always something that made her confused with her life. One of those things, and the largest one, was her father. He was so weird with her, and he acted like he loved her and like he didn't care about her at all. It got her so confused, and she still couldn't figure out what her father got out of that.

Sapphire heard some faint footsteps coming into the tower, but the way she was singing wouldn't allow her to hear much of anything else but the lyrics. Her hair continued to flip around the way she threw it and she almost choked on a strand on her hair. This only caused her giggle and throw off her singing. But who cares, she was still a good singer and this was only a small challenge that she needed to face because a lot of singers got their hair in their faces and they managed it fine.

She twirled around again, and just as she got half way threw the spin, she saw a flash of white blonde hair and she let out a small gasp. Her spin slowly stopped and she faced the boy again. With her body half way toward him she stared at him with wide eyes, and suddenly grinned. She knew this boy, he was in her year but in a different house. His name was Sabe-something, she couldn't remember, but she knew his name started with Sabe, or close to it.

She giggled and ran over to him. He would probably get scared, as he most likely didn't know her but if he did she would be surprised. "HI!" she said a little louder than she had intended.

Sabriel gave a start, but settled down.

"Hi," he replied. His voice trailed off on the wind, near a whisper. The Ravenclaw shuffled uneasily. He had a feeling, though he could not discern whether it was good or bad. He fixed his eyes on the cobblestone flooring. "Hello," he tried again, a little louder. He was surprised he didn't stammer.

They were inside the Astronomy tower, but Sabriel could not tell. It resembled a planetarium tonight. The stars and moon glimmered high overhead. The two of them were draped in a haze of starlight. The torches threw eerie, crimson shadows. Sabriel could make out the angry red of this girl's hair. It was wild, thrown all over her face, but Sabriel could tell it was styled fashionably. It was very much unlike his pale, silvery locks. This girl had a cheerful smile. But it only served to make him more uncomfortable.

He was silent for a while. Sabriel's gray eyes flicked from one corner of the room to the other, patiently waiting for this girl to say something else to him.

Her olive/emerald colored eyes were fixed on the boy who seemed uncomfortable in her presence, and Sapphire smiled. His voice seemed to flutter away as he said hello to her and this only caused Sapphire's smile to widen more into a devious smirk. Saph wasn't one to play around with people who seemed uncomfortable, but this boy just seemed to trigger something in her that made her want to just mess around with him. Her smirk returned to the sweet smile she usually had on and she walked toward him.

Sapphire's hair made her look crazy she knew that. Especially since she had been flipping it here and there while she had been singing that song. Her bangs fell in her face and her eyes were barely visible through her hair and she only continued to smile at him while she stepped forward. She tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear and she reached out and took his hand. "Don't just stand there! I won't bite!" she said cheerfully, pulling him more into the middle of the tower.

A small flirty giggle escaped her lips as she pulled him behind her and she finally let go of his hand. Sapphire turned herself around and stared at him, her eyes moving up and down, taking him in. Not very much to him, his hair was long and white/silver, and he seemed very much like a girl. "Have you ever thought of cutting your hair?" she asked him curiously.

Sabriel gave a small nod. "I have," he admitted. "Mother hated it. She told me never to do it again. It always grows quickly anyway, but father cuts it each time I come home for summer. It makes little difference to me, short or long."

Sabe stared at his hands. The Veela tried not to regret coming up to the Astronomy towers - it actually seemed rather cruel of him to. He flashed the girl a small smile. He could not let his introversion get the best of him. "My name is Sabriel. Ravenclaw. Pleased to meet you."

Sapphire grinned at the boy and stared at him hair. "Well, I like it! You're hair looks cool!" she told him, grinning and placing her hands on her hips. She quickly swiped her bangs out of her face, and looked down at the floor. There was an uncomfortable silence from her for a moment, while she thought of what else to say to the boy. She suddenly looked up, coming out of her thoughts, as he introduced himself. "Oh! My name's Sapphire. Kind of a weird name, because my hair is red and I'm definitely not what my name means." she blurted out. "I'm in Hufflepuff." she smiled brightly.

She was quiet for another moment, and finally to keep the conversation going she said the first thing that came to her mind, and the first thing to come to her mind was the Yule Ball. The dance that was supposed to occur not much time away from today. "Are you going to the Yule Ball?" she asked him, beginning to feel uncomfortable, as she did. The Yule Ball seemed to be a big thing for everyone, but Sapphire didn't really get it. It was only a school dance, right? What was the big deal? Saph wasn't the kind of girl to be dragged into dances, unless it was with a friend, or with someone she really liked. Although, on her own, she wouldn't be caught dead at a dance.

She sat down on the edge of the stone windowsill that was there, and she sighed. Her left foot dragged itself across the floor in front of her and she looked down at the line her foot was making. She didn't know what else to say now. Mentioning the Ball was something she shouldn't have done, because now it killed her mood to talk. That was very rare for Sapphire, but it happened now...

Sabe smiled brilliantly. "Thank you," he said. Time stretched between them, during which Sabe picked at his fingernails and the girl fussed with her hair a bit. He did not know what to think. Sapphire seemed to be a very charming girl. However, she was quite spontaneous. Apparently she liked to sing, as did he. Something they had in common?

"Oh! My name's Sapphire. Kind of a weird name, because my hair is red and I'm definitely not what my name means." she said. "I'm in Hufflepuff."

Sabriel's eyes widened slightly in recognition. "Ah, I see." She was definitely a Hufflepuff. Her effervescence proved that enough. He added, "You name is not weird. It is actually rather nice. Sometimes I wish my name was more fierce. I want to be an Auror after I graduate."

Sapphire was silent again. Suddenly she said, "Are you going to the Yule Ball?" She grew suddenly sedate, as if she had nothing more to say.

Sabe blinked. "I may. It depends on whether I get a date."

Sapphire's bangs fell back into her eyes and she closed her eyes for a moment so that they would not hurt her eyes, before swiping them away from her face again. 'Well it is weird to me, because my name is supposed to mean serenity and peace. I'm like the complete opposite of that. But my mother named me after her birthstone. I have to live with it." she said, waving her hand dismissively. She quiet again, listening to what Sabriel was saying, before getting up and walking toward him. She stared at him intently once she was in front of him and then cracked a huge grin.

"But your name is cool. And unique. I don't know anyone else with a name like yours." she said, blushing slightly for some odd reason. "Your name doesn't have anything to do with you wanting to be an Auror after your graduation." she told him softly. Her voice still didn't seem to want to come back, and it was beginning to annoy Saph.

Her grin had now faded from her face, and she sat back down in the same spot, with a sort of blank expression on her face. Her eyes darted down from Sabriel to the floor beneath her feet and she sighed. The pink on her cheeks had gone away now and she only continued to stare at the floor. What was wrong with her right now? Sapphire's head whipped up when she heard Sabriel's response to her question, and she felt her cheeks begin to burn once again. Again she had no idea why and she nodded, trying to hide her reddened face with her hair. "Same for me." she said in an almost whisper.

Sapphire had changed. She'd stopped smiling, and stared at the floor. Sabriel noticed the girl's uncharacteristically dispassionate attitude with alarming clarity and could not help but frown. It concerned him deeply. Why had such a bright and cheerful girl gotten so quiet? Was it because of him? His fault?

Sabe's eyes widened at that. "Are you okay?" he asked, timidly. He placed a tentative hand on her shoulder, wide gray eyes concerned. "I did not mean to upset you, or anything. You seem upset about something .."

Sabriel blushed. He hoped he did not sound like an idiot. He prayed he was not making her any more uncomfortable than she already was. It was bad enough he had intruded on her private time.

"Do you, perhaps, need a date to the Yule Ball? I would be happy to escort you." He smiled, then. This time, it was unforced. Her demeanor had changed right at the mention of the ball, so he hoped he would be able to cheer her up this way.
