This works just like the space for the task.

Perhaps have this task at the Ministry? The first obstacle should be having to use some password to access the phone booth entrance to the ministry and having it be different for each champion.

I think the second challenge should somehow put them "on trial" in the wizengamot courtroom for something they feel guilty about or about some character flaw and force them to decide how they will continue the challenge in spite of their limitations

The third challenge?

Um...a duel with one of the aurors, perhaps?

To get the puzzle piece, they should need to answer a question posted to the by the Minister of Magic, once they find his office. Or,....perhaps, we could make finding his office an obstacle and say that it has an enchantment on it that moves it and they need to find it.

Gahahaha! I love this! This is brilliant, Khaat! That will work perfectly for Jack =D

As for the riddle, I've found sites through Google loaded with riddles that we could put to use- or one of us could write it, however, despite my young riddler of a character, Damian, I am not skilled whats-so-ever when it comes to riddles. =P

First Task Ideas Empty Re: First Task Ideas

Post by Khaat Lupin Tue Oct 26, 2010 10:37 pm

ok, this was the second task. i've now made it the first. however, i have a plot point snag. jess thinks it is unreasonable that the DE's would allow the first task to be at the ministry. However, my understanding of the Tournament from canon is that, according to the wiki, the ministry was responsible for reviving the tournament in harry's day, and therefore it is unlikely that they will relinquish control of the contest, especially in light of the death of Cedric Diggory. It seems to me that the DE's would be under political pressure to cooperate. They are, after all, if nothing else, a faction that firmly believes in honoring age old tradition, which is what the Tournament is.

Anyway, I need to get past this point or there is no point whatsoever in writing the rest of it up, even though it, technically is done.

Help?

To be quite honest, I agree with Jess on this one- yes, Jess, go on and smirk as you read this -I don't think that the first task should be held within the Ministry, and in order to avoid said complication you should stick with the idea of keeping the order the way you had originally decided the tasks to be in. You made a good point though, and if it is that important, roll with it and see where it gets you. Otherwise, I think we should start small, and work our way up. If it is simply the act of the Death Eaters allowing a task to take place in the Ministry in general that has rubbed Jess the wrong way, well, then... we'll draw straws, since that seems to work around here.

First Task Ideas Empty Re: First Task Ideas

My idea to placate Jess was to tell him that the DE's were up to something and by letting the first task take place in the Ministry they would allow the Ministry and the Minister to believe that they were cooperating with the light. After the Ministry the Champions (in theory) would move back to Hogwarts within the next task then the last task would take place at the school where the Death Eater's would unveil their plan. It's a load of lies because the DE's don't do anything but it would have been a good plan if they did have a plot. xD

First Task Ideas Empty Re: First Task Ideas

Post by Khaat Lupin Wed Oct 27, 2010 3:13 pm

Ok. So, I'm going to bounce this into the hopper and run back to work.

First, I'm fine with people having different viewpoints, so dont take what i'm going to say out of context. not everyone is obligated to share my opinion simply b/c its mine. lol

Having said that, I think I could mount a great vast list of arguements as to why this would be very logical and would work. But I'm not going to do that because:

1. I am not going to put that much emotional energy into this, and argueing does take, besides logic, a certain amount of emotional commitment. . I will give it all the creative power I have. But getting all fired up about this? Nah. Not gonna happen.

2. Second, it doesn't make any difference if i have a list of why this will work that is as long as the dead sea scrolls. if darren and jess don't want something to happen, it won't. that's it.

So, as i see it, here's where we stand. I have ideas to offer up. but if we don't use them, its fine. i really am good with it. however, we have obligated ourselves to doing it, so we do have to offer up something. so, if we don't want to use what i have, all well and good, but then someone else needs to come up with what we're going to do, or we need to scrap the tournament. its about that simple. And time is quickly running out.

Now, I have to go back to work. Later, all!

I don't think it matters either way because we need to sort this out. This is the main route problem with the admin panel -- no one has the balls to say no and get things done. Vincent did a lot of that now I come to think of it but seeing as he's not an admin now it's irrelevant. I'm not having a pop at you lot but assing around like we always seem to do gets the site no where -- we've got proof of that! More than enough I think. Unless someone has a roughly planned out idea that we can run with for now then I really think we should go with what we already had. As Khaat has said we're running out of time. A part of me thinks that the DE's should be possessive over where the games are going to take place and want them to be in Hogwarts but this was something that should have been talked about before someone even thought about hosting the Tournament this year. If Jess really doesn't want to have it at the Ministry then I'll try and come up with something. Unless he has something to contribute of course. This has sprung up at an awkward time....I'm going to stalk the Lexicon now and draw inspiration from somewhere. P:

First Task Ideas Empty Re: First Task Ideas

I'm going to skip agreeing with key points that the two of you went over because that would be a waste of time- however, for some reason I feel that listing what we have so far wouldn't...? Explain that thought process to me and I'll love you.

We've got the overall goal, which is to solve riddles in order to find pieces to a puzzle each Champion will be given. Each puzzle that the Champion possesses is actually a fraction of the much larger puzzle that they will get at the end if they can get through all the nail-bitingly suspenseful hell we are going to put them through. There will be three tasks overall, but there will also be the task of putting the larger puzzle together towards the end, which is a task in itself- so we actually have four tasks.

We've got one in the castle, which will act as a maze as the Champions make their way through the gigantic thing in search of a piece to their puzzle, and one person that each of them cares about, who will be locked away in the dungeon or something of that nature. In order to locate both their friend and their puzzle piece, they will have to answer the riddle that they were given towards the beginning of the task.

NEXT we have the task in St. Mungo’s. This one actually hasn't been discussed much yet other than the fact that the task will be held there and that the Champions will run into a healer there. In my eyes, every task that Harry and the others had to complete during their time was a test of their character and their wit, so I'm assuming we have similar goals this time around...? Our task in Hogwarts is already a test of their character in one way or another- at some point they would have to choose between finding the puzzle piece or their loved one first- so perhaps this one could challenge their wit a bit more; their wit and their judgment. I'm thinking that Khaat could assign them each a patient on the brink of death- who are each dying of different magical illnesses. Now, I know, I know, I've got my head stuck in one place with this "assigning healer missions" thing, but it's my only idea for the time being, and the point of this post was to inspire the two of you, not come up with a final decision.

Now, as for the Ministry task- this was my favorite by far, simply because it would be great fun to see how Jack reacted to being put on "trial" for her wrong doings and such- not to mention the fact that a duel would definitely be included in this task, and that is important I suppose. Let's say we didn't have Jess on our backs about this one- how exactly would this be planned out? By this, I mean to say, do we have the finer details in check- what is, the game plan for this specific task? We can always modify the location, however, we can not turn back the clocks when we've run out of time due to the back-and-forth conversations we've had that consisted of nothing but "ah, gee, I wonder what we should tell Jess..." Besides, if we plan it out and make it sound all... BAM, it will be a hell of a lot easier to gain Jess' approval. Where does Darren stand with this one?

Now, the whole point of restating what we've already come up with... we can cross these off as we complete them. I'll be adding more if I see anything I missed.

  • We still need a riddle for the first, second, and third task, and one for the last puzzle. Where is Wilson? You said he's brilliant with these. They need to be thought out with both the actual riddle and the answer included- I mean, I'd imagine those things are important =P

  • All three tasks still need to be fleshed out as much as we can without getting too picky about it- just the important things that we could get snagged on later if we don't think up in the present.

  • The announcing of the Champions (or the Champions being told their Champions...?) and the weighing of the wands- both threads need to be created at one point so that the members don't start throwing stuff at us. I believe I've seen a timeline lying about somewhere around here, but I'm not sure if those two things are included on it, but I'm sure it will work out brilliantly for us if we choose to fallow through with both of them.

  • The Ministry situation, unfortunately, does have to be dealt with. Eli said that she would start thinking things over, and I'm going to *says in casual voice* go send a few viruses over to Jess' computer through a PM....

We just need to figure something out that will make the Ministry task work.
