Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Lesson 2 - Basic Level Empty Lesson 2 - Basic Level

Post by William Winston McCoy Tue Sep 21, 2010 12:54 pm

Another school year, another bunch of new and old students... Every year the same, but every one of those years he enters these classrooms with a smile on his face and joy in his heart because of the classes and the opportunity to teach new wizards and witches what he knows. The lesson plan and the working methods are still the same, the classroom is still empty... but the latter will soon change. Professor McCoy took his seat at the front desk and waited, scrolling through papers.

Abbey entered the classroom. She was the first one to arrive, which was unusual, but she liked it better than being late. "Umm, hi, Professor McCoy." she said to break the awkward silence that engulfed the room. Abbey took a seat at a desk and quietly set her things down and waited for class to start.

Lesson 2 - Basic Level Empty Re: Lesson 2 - Basic Level

Post by Samantha Burns Sun Sep 26, 2010 1:41 am

Samantha walked into the classrom, luckily not late. She walked to a desk at the back of the room and started pulling her things out. Her wand, her papers, her quill. She then looked up at the classroom to see the professor and another student. "Good morning Professor." Sammy said just to be nice for once, and get that out of the way. She looked down at the desk and started thinking about Sophia, and Keegan, and her children, and all the people in her life that ment something to her. How could her life have gotten so out of control. What was she going to do? Marry Keegan? Stay bestfriends with Sophia? Right now all she wanted to do was get through another day of school.

Lesson 2 - Basic Level Empty Re: Lesson 2 - Basic Level

Post by Luna-Lorrie Hastenfield Sun Sep 26, 2010 12:38 pm

Luna-Lorrie stepped into the classroom, taking her seat. She boredly opened her textbook, opening to a section irrelevant to the class being taught today. Frankly, whatever was being taught today may not have had any effect on her tomorrow. She was fine with that. Oh well, at least she'd get to make cool stuff from boring stuff. Or, she thought. However, she was probably mistaken.

Ezra followed behind her, angry that she had been ahead of him the whole time and making it difficult for him to get to class. When they finally reached class, he sat in a seat a long ways from her. He didn't want to deal with her anymore. He got his things out and tapped the wand on his desk.

Aurora Entered the transfiguration classroom that day and was tired as ever. She had been doing to many things at once and had nothing to do now but goto class and relax while learning more about transfiguration. "Hello Prosfessor." She said nodding towards him then sitting down at her back desk. She still looked as though she was depressed but she wasnt as mad as she was before hand.

Lesson 2 - Basic Level Empty Re: Lesson 2 - Basic Level

Post by Ethel Prerana Atkinson Sun Sep 26, 2010 10:50 pm

Was it just Ethel, or was this school even less interesting than a muggle school? Hey, she had this lingo down, man. Muggle, muggle born, dirty little mudblood.

Yeah, she was slowly learning magic, but more by her own efforts than by what anything the "professors" told her. She'd looked it up and apparently there was no wizarding university, so as far as she could tell, none of these professors actually had a right to that title. She wasn't going to stop calling them that, though, because she didn't want to be turned into a toad.

The point was, in muggle schools, the teachers didn't act like wardens. At this school it was like they resented you having fun. And not even naughty teenage hormonal fun (in fact, that was overlooked; it was weird), they resented people having down to earth good humour type fun. It was craaaaazy.

''Five? A good number if you ask old Greek philosophers, such as Pythagoras or the Pythagorean School... but here, it is just a small amount. But still, let me begin with today's lesson. Today's lesson will still be restricted to theory, as you shan't be doing any wand work, but that will start from our next lesson. Now, today's lesson is all about Transfiguration and how it works in practice. Now, for starters, would anyone be so kind as to name types of Transfiguration and what they represent? Anyone?'', he asked.

"Animagus,Animate to Inanimate Transfiguration , Cross Species Transfiguration, Conjuration, Inanimate to Animate Transfiguration, Self-transfiguration is the answer i believe Professor McCoy. " Leanne said from the door as she stopped to hear the question and repair the bad first impression she made when she got late again. "And i'm sorry i am late." she said apologisingly as she stepped forward and sat on the chair at the desk in front of the classroom.

''Yes, that is it, Miss Phoenix, I dare say. Those are the types I have asked and that is 10 points for Hufflepuff. Now, in short, can anyone tell me what each of these represents and how they work so that we can finish today's lesson? It is practically very easy and something that you can deduce out of the titles of the branches themselves. So, would anyone try so that you can all go to lunch?'', he asked.

Lesson 2 - Basic Level Empty Re: Lesson 2 - Basic Level

Post by Ezra Laurisi Sun Oct 03, 2010 4:13 pm

Ezra raised his hand, and spouted off the different types and what they did:

"Well, sir, first of all Animagus is where a human turns into an animal and back again. However, the animal you transform into has to be one that represents your personality and will take on some physical characteristic of your human form. Say that someone is sly and wears glasses. He or she may turn into a fox, but with glasses like markings. Animate to inanimate turns things that move into those that don't, or more specifically, animals to objects. Cross species is when one species turns into another, like Vampyr Mosps to worms. Conjuration is when something is transfigured from thin air, like an object or animal. Inanimate to animate is the reverse of Animate to Inanimate, turning objects into animals. Self-transfiguration is where a person transfigures themselves into another form, usually an animal, to gain the powers of said form. The difference between that and Animagus is that Animagi do not require wands. There is another branch not mentioned by that girl, which is Untransfiguration. Untransfiguration returns an object into its proper form."
