Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

HOGWARTS FALLS

Earlier this morning the Ministry of Magic released information about, once again, changes with the ancient Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry. The information disclosed with yours truly was that the board of governors have dissolved, but what does this mean for the schools status? According to ministry law and school policies if the school's board were to fall the school has two routes to follow: either immediately close it's doors and cease the education of young witches and wizards or fall into the ministry control.  Conveniently this erasing of the board has happened during the school holidays, meaning education wont be impacted in the present time allowing the Ministry to come up with a system to recover for the board dissolving.

The ministry of magic have gained full control of Hogwarts only once before. The time when the infamous Dolores Umbridge became High Inquisitor, then Headmistress. You could argue that this step was needed for a full recovery of Hogwarts School as, at the time, standards were slipping and the ministry was acting in the best intentions of the safety of the students protecting them from Albus Dumbledore, who was wrongly accused of attempting to overthrow minister Cornelius Fudge.

The board of governors works with the Hogwarts Headmistress and other staff members to come up with a curriculum, maintain standards, work with the examination board and help with funding and economic management of the school. Now it seems the ministry has claimed this control and no doubt the full extent of new control will only be seen in September when school starts on the first.

A lot of people will be wondering why the board of governors decided to dissolve? At this moment in time that remains a mystery. When, yours truly, sought out board members for interview none of them were available. In fact, none of them replied to my letters and seem to have gone completely off the radar. Is this a ploy in the ministry? Dispose of the board of governors to have the ability to enforce even more disastrous policies. Could this be, once again, the work of the snake in the ministry?

The board of governors has never had full control, however, as the ministry of magic has been able to enforce policies  and educational decrees. Earlier this year in fact we saw the Minister of Magic enforce anti-half breed policies, banning all half breeds for attending the school whilst also placing Katrina-Carlotta Du Hunt as Headmistress and I am sure you will all agree these decisions were made in the best interest of the school whether they were the result of forgery or not. Therefore it seems rather suspicious to accuse the ministry as they already had some level of control - why would they need more? Unless the board of governors willingly resigned, vanished from the face of the earth to what? Enjoy a nice holiday in the Caribbean? Unlikely.

Currently the falling of the board and movement of Hogwarts into the Ministry's full control remains a mystery. When asked why the board of governors have dissolved the ministry spokesman, Craig Wilkerspool, stated this morning: 'The dissolving of the board shouldn't be a concern. You have nothing to worry about concerning Hogwarts School, your ministry has stepped in to ensure the smooth running of our precious education system.' - Either he doesn't know the full story or the ministry are keeping something a secret.

Keep your eyes peeled more coverage of the story over the upcoming weeks as the Daily Prophet works to find out answers to the questions our readers will be wanting to know.
