I can tell you other things, but I tell you the truth!

Running out of the Divinations classroom, Katie headed towards the lake before passing the wall leading to the room of requirements. " Oh what the hell, why not?" Katie asked herself as she walked passed the wall three times as the door  appeared she walked into the room as the door disappeared behind her.  Sitting on the couch, tears escape from Katie's eyes that she fought back in Divinations class. She didn't want anyone see her cry, it was a sign of weakness something Katie wasn't.  But here she was sitting in the room of requirements crying her eyes out over something that was stupid and silly.  

There was so much anger in his,  Katie wouldn't blame him for hating her she would hate herself as well.   She dated the one person who broke her in so many ways,  the one person who lead her to her breakdown.  " He broke me in so many ways,  physically and emotionally. " Katie muttered to herself before looking at her scars on her arms due to Jeremy bullying.  Cupid picked up the pieces of her broken soul and put them back together.  One thing Katie didn't understand why he would do that, after all the bickering and fighting they had done.

Why did he do that,  why didn't he just leave her just like she thought he did in the first place?  She's sure wasn't in her right mind,  but why didn't he left her go even when he wanted to? "He should of let me go, sure beats the pain I'm going through now. " Katie muttered to herself.  It been awhile since Katie cried, the last time she cried it was over Cupid.   " Ugh....why every time I cry it's over him? " Katie asked herself already knowing the answer.  " Ugh stop crying Katie,  you're not going to get him so let him go this is so unhealthy for you!"Katie muttered to herself.

If Cupid was looking for her,  he'll look in all her favorite places before looking in the room of requirements.  That was if he was even looking for her at all, for all she knew he could hate her.   If he was looking for her,  he wouldn't forget about the room of requirements would he? How could he forget about the one room that made him popular after the party they thrown?  A part of her was hoping he was looking for her, but another part of her wanted him to hate her.

If he hated her, it would be easier to get over him and move on with her life without him. She didn't want to face him, but he all Katie's favorite spots so he was bound to find her soon enough. She didn't go far anyways, just a place where she knew she could cry and no one can see or hear her. " Yeah all but Cupid if he comes. "Katie thought to herself before cursing to herself. "Crap, I don't want him to see me like this. " Katie muttered to herself. She didn't want him to see her crying over him once again, she didn't need it again.

Katie had fled Divinations as the tears had fled her eyes. Mary Mist was in hysterics for god knows what reason and Cupid was confused. He'd touched a nerve, took his and Katie's conversation to a place perhaps he shouldn't have? No. It had definitely been the right thing to do. Clearly something was bothering Katie and he wanted to find out.

As the Slytherin found himself outside of the classroom he glanced down the spiral staircase that led to the Divinations tower. Katie hadn't been in sight but she mustn't have been far. Not wanting to waste anymore time Cupid ran full pelt down the stairs, taking them two at a time, and onto the seventh floor landing.

'Katie?' He called out, hurrying past portraits and suits of armour as rain began to gently pitter patter against the windows.

Ready to give his search on the seventh floor Cupid smiled. There she was, she'd just entered the room of requirement... She'd just entered the room of requirement. If she was in there would it let him in? The Slytherin wasn't an expert when it came to the room, sure he'd hosted a party there but it had been down to Katie's help that it had been a success.

Quickly running to the slowly vanishing door his fingers clasped the handle just in time. Calming his breath and gathering himself Cupid pushed open the door and entered the room to find his fellow fifth year crying, crying her eyes out.

'I'm sorry, Katie. I didn't mean to upset you.' Cupid said softly as the door behind him vanished into the brick wall. 'I just care. I don't want to see you hurt again.' He said moving towards her. He'd made the mistake in being stubborn before, that hadn't gotten him anywhere but into an argument. He'd learned his lesson, that wasn't going to happen again. 

Hearing footsteps Katie seen Cupid walking towards her, half glad to see him, and half not. Katie nearly cursed to herself when Cupid saw her cry. "Damn it, he saw you cry!"Katie thought to herself.  It something she didn't want him to see, was crying because of him.  Although he didn't know she wss crying over him,  so liked it mattered anyways.

Katie shook her head.  "It's ok Cupid,  thanks for caring so much for me."said Katie softly.  "But I I can't tell you the reason why I dated  him."said Katie softly.  "But I can tell you that I don't love him,  so don't worry. "said Katie softly.   "There's something I been meaning to ask you, why didn't you give up on me when you wanted to? "Katie asked him softly.   "You have better friends then me Cupid,  why me?"Katie asked him curiously.

She was no one special that was for sure, of course she believed that Cupid was going to be famous one day  but that's having confidence in him.  Katie did everything she could to help Cupid, that's what friends were for.  "Yeah just a friend, it's never going to be anything more. "Katie thought to herself.   Katie developed a crush on Cupid,  but as their friendship grown so did her crush and feelings for him.  Everyone told her over time they'll be together,  but Katie thought it was all a bunch of rubbish talk.

The chance of Cupid liking her was one in a million, besides he was focused om more of becoming famous. He wasn't focused on love, Katie knew that without a shadow of a doubt she knew Cupid to well. Probably almost as she knew herself, and that was pretty well seeing how it was well herself. But there was one thing she hated, Cupid knew her very well to almost like a open book that he read very well. There was nothing she could hide from him that he didn't know about or sense she was hiding.

'Because you're one of my best friends, if not my best.' Cupid replied. 'You understand me, you get me. I didn't want to lose such a good friend.' It was as simple as that. The Slytherin didn't have many people he could tell things to. Sure he spread gossip and exaggerated rumors and happily joined in conversations but nobody knew his own problems. His own problems were what he was private about and only a handful of people knew them. In fact, after Becca Katie was probably the person who knew the most.

'Tell me, Katie.' He said softly, putting a hand onto her arm. 'I want to help.' It was his was of paying her back. After everything they had been through, everything Katie had helped Cupid with: the party, spreading his name, pulling pranks, helping him through the Medusa shock. It was his way of saying thank you.

Katie froze in her seat as he put a hand onto her arm. She would of hated to see what she would of done if he touched her hand or wrapped his arm around her. Of course every time they touched, Katie felt something weird shoot through her body. Her eyes looking at his hand that was on her arm she looked at him before looking away. "I -I can't Cupid, I just can't. " said Katie escaped her eyes. " You can't help me, this is something I got to get over myself. " said Katie softly.

Katie wanted to tell him so badly, but she kept it inside her for she knew she couldn't tell him. It would ruin everything they had, cause she knew he didn't feel the same. It honestly killed her to know he didn't feel the same way. But overtime she knew she'll get over it, but right now it killed her. And he didn't even know that it did.

Katie knew that she shouldn't keep her feelings bottled up, but she knew she couldn't tell Cupid about her feelings. She knew she had to tell someone, but it wasn't going to be Cupid that was for sure. She told him everything, but she wasn't about to tell him that she liked him more than a friend. She couldn't do that, even though a part of her wants to. It would just ruin everything for them.

Katie was being difficult. A part of Cupid simply wanted to throw his hands up in the air, saying something about only trying to help and walk out. A few months ago that's exactly what he would have done but if he'd learned one thing from the incident before it was not to walk away. Walking away kept him out of the blue and Cupid liked to know all the facts.

'I wont ask you then.' He said softly. 'You'll get through whatever it is, you're strong.' Cupid told her before pulling her into a hug where her head rested just below his chin. Right now she needed a hug, it's what Becca probably would have done, and now it's what he was doing. Nobody would walk in, point their fingers and start a rumor, it was just the two of them and Katie needed comforting.

So he wouldn't find out now but he would certainly get Becca onto the matter. Demand that she investigates what is going on with Katie. Then again she probably wont, she'd been 'too busy' lately planning God knows what. Cupid didn't like to say it to her but she would be getting married whether she liked it or not, he saw no way she could get out of it. Thankfully, Cupid hadn't yet received a letter of his own.

The one thing Katie didn't expect was being pulled into a hug by Cupid. He never hugged her before or did anything like this before, why was he doing it now? " Like he said, probably just being a good friend. " Katie thought to herself. Yup a just as a good friend nothing more. Katie only wished and dreamed that he was doing this due to him liking her.

" Pfff... only in yours dreams Katie she thought to herself as tears fell down her face. " Um... sorry, I'm getting your shirt wet aren't I? " Katie asked him softly. " If I am, sorry!"said Katie softly but honestly. " Ugh... this is ridiculous, stop crying!"Katie thought to herself. Her heart beating in her chest, Katie swallowed a lump that was in her throat.

This was to much for her, she felt like her heart was going to beat out of her chest. Ugh... why is he torturing her like this? It just made things more difficult for her. " Ugh... this is ridiculous, just tell him you like him. " said Katie. Her eyes widened when she realized she thought spoke out loud. " Crap it's out in the air, you might as well tell him. " her conscience told her.

Sighing to herself, Katie pulled away from him before looking away. " You don't know how hard you're making this for me Cupid."said Katie softly. Seeing him give her a confused look, Katie turned and looked at him with tears in her eyes. " Really Cupid, you really thought those rumors around school about me liking you were fake?"Katie asked him softly.

" Well...Their not, I like you and I have for awhile now since the Christmas party. "said Katie softly. " I knew you'll never feel the same so Jeremy asked me out and I accepted hoping to get over you, but I didn't it just made me think about you more!"said Katie as tears escaped her eyes. "There I told you now are you happy now?"Katie asked him before she looked away from him. " Now you know why I couldn't tell you. " said Katie softly as she gotten up to leave.

Wow. Whatever Cupid had been expecting to be wrong with Katie he hadn't expected that. Of course he had heard rumours, in fact people had approached him saying asking if they were involved in a secret affair - something Cupid always thought was a joke. He could see where they got their conclusions from: he would sneak out to the kitchens with her at night, they'd be together in the ground, together in the library. The truth of the matter was Cupid never thought that it could be serious, Katie liking him. Him?

Cupid didn't say anything. He was named after the God of desire, according to his Mother. Not because he was born on valentines day but because his Mother wanted him to have love in his life. She'd been hurt by his Father and didn't want her son to be hurt in the same way. Hope. Hope is what his Mother had held when she'd named her son. And now Cupid was dancin on the fence of that hope.

'Umm.' Finally something. 'Thanks?' He said with a shrug not really knowing how to take it. It would probably have been better if he had said nothing at all. Thanks? What the hell was that supposed to mean? It certainly didn't reflect how the fifth year was thinking. He wasn't thankful, he wasn't thankful at all this statement, this sudden knowledge had left him utterly bamboozled.

Katie liked him? Scratch that. Girls like him? Cupid had always visioned himself with a girl, maybe settle down and start a family once his chase of fame was complete but now? Girls liked him, as he was, right now? That certainly didn't make any sense at all.

Katie looked away from him and sighed.  " I - I can't do this Cupid I can't!"said Katie softly.   " You may know the truth niw, but everything between us is different now. " said Katie.   " It ruined  everything between us,   see how awkward this is for us?"Katie asked him sighing.  " I don't want things to be different,   but it's to late for that!"said Katie.   " I know you don't feel the same way Cupid,  so I'll get over you over time but I'm sure I will. " said Katie still not looking at him.

This was awkward and really uncomfortable,  she wanted to run and die from embrassment.   She wanted to crept into the smallest hole and never come out.  There was a lot of things Katie wanted to do,  but she didn't.  She hoped he'll give her something anything! But he wasn't giving her anything he was probably to shock to speak.  Katie sighed and nodded knowing the truth,   and it killed her.

" As I thought, I mean why would anyone like me? I'm the most boring girl you'll ever meet!"said Katie.   "Why you're even friends with me I have no idea,  but honestly I'm boring even I can tell you that!"said Katie.   " I also know I'm annoying and a dork,  I study and read to much and I don't know the meaning of fun!"said Katie laughing bitterly.  " I know what they say about me,  and you know what it's all true and I don't care!"said Katie honestly.   " Sticks and stones may break my bones, but your words can never hurt me."said Katie.

Katie was rambling she knew she was, she usually did that when she was mad or she was upset.  Sometimes she could  go on for hours about nonsense things that didn't even matter.  But she couldn't help it,  she was simply stating the truth even if it killed her and everyone else. Finally looking at Cupid for a second, she turned away to look at the wall like it was the most interesting thing in the world. " I -I'm going to go."said Katie softly as she gotten up from the couch looking at Cupid one last time hoping he'll say something or do something other than just say two words.

Cupid continued to stay silent whilst he listened to Katie. For him he didn't see how things would be different. If they continued to just act normal, just act like friends maybe it would make Katie realise that that is really what they are? Just friends, really good friends. That's what Cupid wanted anyway, he didn't want anything to be different.

He hadn't really listened to Katie going on about how nobody likes her, he'd been trying to think of a solution. How they could both be friends without it interfering with their feelings towards each other.

'Nobody knows besides us.' He said, 'So we can just carry on acting like nothing has happened?' He suggested with a shrug. Hopefully Katie would agree. He didn't understand the need for all their feelings to get in the way of their friendship. Their friendship had survived a lot, they had gone down a dark tunnel and had reached the light at the other end. Cupid didn't want to sacrifice that, Katie would simply have to get over him.

Clearly either Katie was over-dramatising the situation or Cupid wasn't understanding the gravity of it.
