GENERAL APPEARANCE: Kate has dirty blonde hair, wavy and curled, unlike her half-sister and brother, who’s ebony dark hair glitters in the sun. Sharing her hair and pale skin with her late mother, she is considered an ‘outsider’ in her family in the way of looks, with even her father having the olive skin and dark hair of her step-mother and half-siblings. She wears a little make-up most of the time; focussing normally on her mud brown eyes, ways to make them seem secret and mysterious. Her skin is unblemished, something she is secretly proud of, not wanting to be vain.
Her clothing style is mostly casual, loving her flowing summer dresses so much that she is even willing to face harsh winter in them. If the weather doesn’t permit, she’ll settle for leggings or skinny jeans and a cotton jumper, or shirt and cardigan. Wear’s minimal jewellery, only earrings when she can remember.

GOALS:
Kate has inner turmoil with her goals. On one hand ever since she was a little girl she has wanted to be a dancer, but as soon as she got the letter from Hogwarts, all her muggle-born family wants for her now is to succeed in magic, something that they believe is above all muggle-known dreams. Kate is still unsure of what she wants to do, as magic, while something she enjoy and is proud to be part off, is not her ultimate dream.
A position after school, which has a relation to Charm’s, is something else she wants. The subject fascinates her, and she excels in it, and so if she needed a magical profession, one like that would be ideal.
Professional Quidditch is also something she would like to have a part in when she’s older. While Kate doesn’t play herself, the game excites her and she loves to watch it. Even being an announcer at games when she graduates would be wonderful.
HABITS & QUIRKS:
[H] Laughing when uncomfortable.
[H] Practising her dancing in the common room, when nobody is there
[Q] Tapping her foot when sitting
BOGGART: Space and the deep ocean. Though she cannot explain it, the very mention of space and/or the ocean depths gives her anxiety. She isn’t sure whether it’s the lack of oxygen, and therefore the chance to suffocate, or the everlasting darkness, but it’s something she doesn’t like to think about. Ever.
PATRONUS: The only clear memory she has of her mother, one she holds very close to her heart. She was five at the time, and she was playing outside the front, when she heard a cry. Turning around, she saw a group of boys poking and shaking tiny little grey kitten. Kate went over and yelled at them to stop. The boys, 13 or 14, laughed her off and continued. Kate grabbed rocks and sticks and anything she could find and started hurling them at the boys. As the boys started to turn on her, her mother luckily came over and the boys ran away. Her mother grabbed an old rag and wrapped the tiny animal up in it. Kate got to hold the kitten all the way to the vet, soothing it with kind words. It survived, and has been Kate’s pet cat Lexie. Her mother told her how proud she was, that Kate stood up for the kitten, against boys a lot older then her, especially when the kitten couldn’t stand up for itself.
DEMENTOR: Although not the clearest memory, Kate can still feel the confusion, anger and sadness she felt when she was five, and her father brokenly told her that ‘mummy was now with God, in heaven’ and that she wouldn’t be coming home. Kate had accused him of lying, and had started screaming and crying and throwing things around the room. Her father hadn’t stopped her, as he was just as upset as she was.
VERITASERUM: An inner conflict that accompanies her dancing dilemma, Kate believes that she is gay, but hides the fact from fear of being treated differently. She dresses and acts as feminine as possible, so nobody has an suspicions, as at the moment, she would be devastated if anyone found out.
MIRROR OF ERISED: Like many people who have lost someone close, all Kate wishes for is to see her mother again, to be able to talk to her and cuddle her and tell her all about her life.
PERSONALITY: Kate hides herself behind dresses and make-up and flirting, lest anyone find out that she’s secretly in turmoil over her sexuality. Her flirting with boys has gotten her a few enemies, but nothing she can’t handle. Her stubbornness is something her father always talks about; laughing when mentioning the time that she argued with her first grade teacher about who invented the phone. Her anger is something else that is difficult for to control. The smallest of things can set her off, and it feels like a fire in her chest thats eating up her insides. This can get her in trouble, but most people can see that she means no real harm, and is actually very kind and generous, she just has a short fuse.
Her like of Charms stems from her dancing, as she likes the way the spells flow and weave seamlessly, like a dancer on a stage.

CHARACTER HISTORY
------------------------------------------------------------
Early Years: Born to Jeremy and Kara van Der Wyle, Kate grew up in Wales. As muggle-born, her early life consisted of her love of dance and school. Kate’s dream was to be a professional ballet dancer; loving the way her body could move to music. She also excelled at English and History.
At five years old, her world was shattered when her mother was killed by a drunk driver coming home from work. Two years later, her father remarried Felicity Moorman. While Kate had her reservations about this new step-mother, due to countless fairy-tale’s and a fear of her father forgetting about her real mother, she grew fond of Felicity, who turned out to be kind and fun. Her half-sister and brother were born when she was 8 and 10, respectively.
Hogwarts Years: When she got the letter of acceptance into Hogwarts, suddenly, nothing else mattered. Dancing or the school she’d been going to since 5 didn’t matter anymore. This was what she had to do now. She had never seen her father and step-mother so excited, and she was confused as to why she didn’t feel the same. She remembers bringing up the question of did she have to go, as all she really wanted to do was dance, even though learning magic sounded very awesome. Her parents convinced her Hogwarts was best, so off she went, glad to be able to take Lexie.
Her first year wasn’t as scary as she had thought. She made friends quickly and enjoyed most of her classes. Her potion grades barely scraped by, unlike her Charms and Transfiguration grades which were excellent.
Second and third years went by pretty much the same. Nothing of interest happened to her, though she stilled practiced her dancing when nobody was watching, determined to fit it in with her graduating goals.
Fourth year was when the inner chaos started. All her friends started liking boys, and flirting with them and getting ‘starter’ boyfriends. Kate followed suit, although more out of what she considered was obligation, rather than out of interest. It was seen as normal, and Kate wanted to fit in. She started thinking more and more about how she liked the way girls looked, and considered guys to be quite stocky and unappealing. Frightened by these strange thoughts, Kate buried them away, and refused to confide in anyone, for fear of humiliation.
Now she is onto fifth year, and continues to struggle with her emotions. She is trying to decided whether acting on her ever growing feelings is the right thing to do.

RP SAMPLE: - Spoiler:
Kate hurried down the hallway, not bothering to stop for other’s ‘hellos!’ and ‘Hey, Kate, how’s it going?’. She was late for Potions, and that was not good at all. She pushed open the dungeon doors and scrambled down the steps. She hated this place. So dank and shadowed. Only creatures of darkness could live down here rats and spiders alike. If only it was Charms she was late for; she excelled in that class, all she would have to say was a quick apology and sit down. With Potions, she dreaded it wouldn't be that easy.
