Goodbye Seems to be the Hardest Word

To my friends:

As you may or may not have noticed over the past month or so, I have been pretty absent from the site. This is because I just started medical school. Going to medical school has been a dream of mine for many years, and now that it is here, it is just as exciting as I expected. I feel like my life is moving in exactly the right direction, and I couldn’t be happier.

Unfortunately, medical school also comes with a special combination of pressures, stresses, and work. Because of the level of commitment expected of me, I haven’t had time to post on Potter’s Army, and I apologize for shirking my duties here. I kept hoping that things would slow up enough for me to get some posting done, but the truth is, things never get slower when you’re going after a really big dream.

So, as you may have guessed by this point, this post is going to be among my last on Potter’s Army. While I have loved this community and still love it, I no longer have the time to be involved as a roleplayer. I have taken so much from Potter’s Army over the years: it improved my writing skills, my creativity, made me laugh, and taught me to think from a perspective that is not my own. And the writers here – I simply cannot say enough thanks. You supported me through some of the toughest times my family went through, sent me both constructive criticism and praise, and made me feel welcome, all without ever meeting me personally. For that, and for so many other things, I am grateful.

It is difficult to say goodbye to something you have been doing for so long – over three years! Can you believe it? – but my priorities need to be with following my dream right now, and that means focusing on my studies and my patients. Who knows, maybe sometime in the future the doctor you see at your appointment or the surgeon operating on you might be me! But even as I say goodbye, I feel very lucky to have known so many people who are so difficult to say goodbye to.

I wish you all the very best. Do what makes you feel alive, love who makes you happy, and dream big. I did, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with where life is taking me

Amelia... I really wish we had some solo topics together. Either way, ti was an honor RPing with you, Sarge. You will be greatly missed by not only me, but by the rest. Try to come back on every once in a while to at least talk or something here.

We'll all miss you so much Amelia. But we understand that this is a big thing for you and I hope that you are as successful as possible in the position you are striving for.

Though I wish I could've had some threads with you, it was great meeting you and I wish you the best in school.

But still, I always "leave" sites due to outside issues and end up coming back, so we'll just have to hope you'll be less busy at some point.

I wish you the best of luck Amelia, I hope you reach for the stars even if there out of your reached. Go for your dream and reached for it, you'll make it! I wish I'D rped with you more then I had. Not all goodbyes are forever it's only for alittle while, but indeed goodbye is hardest word to say!

Your dedication to PA is admirable and I'm sorry to know that your leaving, but its completely understandable. I wish you all the best in your career and everything else. Visit us whenever you have time! PA won't forget you.

Thank you all for your kind words! I really appreciate getting so much positive feedback, even as I leave the site. This is the kind of support I was referencing in my original post - you all make me feel very loved, and it will be difficult to stay away. I used to be so intimidated by your beautifully written posts and was almost scared of you. I MUST admit that I looked up to you and held you in the highest regard, and I still do. Plotting and talking to you out of character was always a treat and our threads were always lively! I found myself rejoicing as Amelia and Jack became closer. I have to say that you are one of those people who I was always overjoyed to see when you logged in.

You are going to be an amazing doctor- that is not just flattery but, if anything can be guessed from your lively and clever posting, you are absolutely top notch! I KNOW you will have success. If you ever have a chance, I'd love to have updates in your success, because I delight in hearing from you.

I don't like saying best of luck, because you don't luck only gets you so far. Best of skill, because I know you have what it takes to succeed. And have a great, blessed life!
