Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Hello everyone!

We've got some big plans for Hogwarts this year, so I figured I'd set them out plain and clear in front of you.

  • For the first time ever, students will not be able to post outside of Hogwarts while term is taking place. This was an issue we held a vote on, and the decision was unanimous (So far) there are still two days to dispute the decision, if you've got an opinion, I'd encourage you to go here as soon as you read this and make your point heard, otherwise we're all set to change the permissions.

  • Classes will once again, be mandatory at the minimum level; two for basics, two for NEWTs or one class and an internship for NEWTs. Last year the internship program did have a late start so it didn't quite take off, hopefully it does this year, but if not it's no real biggy.

  • On the last Friday of a month Hogsmeade will be opened for students, and left open until the next Sunday. You can either opt to have your topics close by the Sunday, or else have them remain open until the next month. Personally I'd prefer to RP the disappointment at the end of the day, but it's your choice.

  • Around Easter and Christmas we will be taking classes down for an entire month for your Holidays, during this time you can either choose to stay at the school, or leave it. This is subject to change, we might shorten the time, or allow you to stay at both, but classes will stop for awhile at the very least.

  • This year we will be having more than a few empty, NPC classes. The classes your character can attend will remain the same, however as an added extra, you can have your character (And maybe some of their friends) go either take an NPC class for HoM (among others) or chill in the empty hazy Divination class. Just remember that these are to be done on your own terms, and you can't take them as a substitution for the actual classes.

  • Prefects and Heady Boys and Girls are returning! 'nuff said, we will be selecting the recipients for these ranks, so those who are chosen will receive a PM in the next day or so. Don't PM us asking if you can be one, chances are we'll say no simply 'cause you asked, even if you were set to be a head Razz

  • House points will play a bigger role this year. Teachers have been given a general guideline for the use of them, so there'll be a lot more going on involving them. In order to make them more interesting for you (Because half of you seem to have characters in multiple houses, thus destroying House pride) we've asked the teachers to favour their houses, AND as a reward, halfway through the year, we will be giving the house in who's coming first access to the common room of one of the other houses for two weeks.

  • We're going to attempt to start Quidditch up once again. I happen to be out of the loop with Quidditch here, I was away when they ran the games, however I've heard that they were massively popular. All we need is a full team for each house.

  • The practical magic course will be running once again. This was another of those ideas which started at the end of last year, and thus never quite took off. If you're interested in taking it, send Khaat Lupin a PM and she'll add you to the course.

  • Possibly the most important point. This is information being given out for the first time, so I hope that you've read down this far. Most people probably have figured this out themselves, but in the next few days, Gellert Grindelwald will be pulling his political strings to make a takeover of the Ministry of Magic.
This year the Ministry will be having a far more hands on role in Hogwarts, and things will be changing in the curriculum being taught, as well as the powers of punishment and enforcement in the school. The man himself may even come in at some points to make sure that everyone's praising him.

I think that's all for now, the Hogwarts express will be starting on the 15th, and will run for two weeks. The Start of term feast, speeches and whatnot will start on the 22nd, last for two weeks as well, and classes will start shortly after that, before the 25th at least.

I hope you all have had a great holidays, both OOC and IC, and I personally am really looking forward to getting back to Hogwarts.

It's gonna be totally awesome
