Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

OLIVER CHINEDU OLAWALE
------------------------------------
Name: Oliver Chinedu Olawale, goes by Olly
Age: 16
Blood: Muggleborn
House: Hufflepuff
Nationality: British
Ethnicity: Nigerian
Mother: Ngozi Olawale
Father: Ibrahim Olawale
Siblings: Manda (9), Tobi (7), Mari and Amara (5), and Kayo (2)

APPEARANCE
------------------------------------
Playby: Kedar Williams-Stirling
Appearance: Olly's height sits just under six feet tall, and he's got broad shoulders and an athletic build that suits him as a Quidditch Keeper. He is dark-skinned with black hair that he tends to keep in short locs or twists that he likes to style every few weeks. He dresses well, though tends towards athletic wear for the ease of it. He is especially into American street style and sneakers, and he passionately collects colorful and interesting sneakers that he likes to match to his outfits when he is out of uniform. Olly's active involvement in Quidditch and football has sculpted his physique. Through years of training and participation in these sports, he has developed a lean and muscular physique, ensuring he is at the top of his game. His dedication to both sports highlights his competitive nature and his commitment to physical fitness.

PERSONALITY
------------------------------------
Optimistic Olly. Anytime he was asked to describe himself in those silly little icebreaker that teachers were so fond of, this was the adjective Olly would brightly choose for himself. He lives up to the description as well, often seen with shining eyes and a bright smile. He moves with confidence that never strays into arrogance, instead showing a boy who was encouraged to never be ashamed of taking up necessary space and being seen. He is warm to everyone he meets and likes to assume the best, but has a strong sense of integrity and justice he refuses to compromise on. As much as he loves Quidditch, he'd never win in a dishonorable matter or allow a false judgement to score him a win.

Olly is led in all actions by kindness. The elder brother of several siblings, and first son to an immigrant mother, he has a strong sense of duty and responsibility that he does not consider a burden but, rather, a source of pride. He likes being the kind of person people can depend on, though he sometimes struggles to give himself the necessary care and grace needed to be that pillar for his loved ones. He's a passionate friend but family always comes first for him, and he'd sacrifice anything for the sake of his parents and siblings.

Olly had a bad habit of overextending himself and has been warned on more than one occasion that he needs to take better care of himself and ensure he gets the rest he requires. He's also prone to bouts of self doubt in spite of his strong moral character, and can sometimes shy away from conflict when he's uncertain. His parents don't mean to put pressure on him but he finds himself doing what he supposes they would want for him more often than what he wants for himself. He tends to sideline his own narrative for the sake of his friends, who he wants to see achieve their hopes and dreams.

HISTORY
------------------------------------
Early Years: Ibrahim Olawale was born in London but his wife arrived to Europe in her university years. They met in school and fell in love quickly, sharing strong values and a determination to make lives they were proud of. Ibrahim had a desire to own a restaurant, and Ngozi supported the dream, taking on extra classes to ensure their business could grow.

They opened their restaurant shortly after university, working sometimes up to sixteen hours a day to see success. Ngozi found out she was pregnant shortly after and despite their exhaustion, they were thrilled to be starting a family.

Six months after she gave birth, Ngozi found out her mother was incredibly sick. The family had to shutter the restaurant and moved to Nigeria for almost two years while Ngozi tended to her mother. Olly doesn't have real memories of this time but it's made him a favorite among his mother's family, who doted on him and had an active part in raising him while his father tried to find work to support the family.

Ngozi's mother eventually recovered, and the family moved back to London, a bit more tired and with less resources. For a few years, the family struggled, putting any plans for their family on hold while Ngozi went back to school to get an accounting degree. She worked as an accountant at a large law firm while Ibrahim continued to hone his culinary craft. Ngozi took on odd jobs as well, determined to raise enough money to reopen their restaurant.

Olly loved daycare and school. At home, his parents were typically exhausted and though they tried they weren't the playmates his friends were. He sought approval from his teachers and did anything to keep his peers happy, but found that academic achievement tended to excite his parents, and he continued to seek ways to make them proud. When he was five, his parents reopened their restaurant and found success. Though they still suffered from long hours, the restaurant was profitable and Ngozi's work as an accountant began to put them ahead.

They returned back to their plan to have a large family and soon got back on track with family planning. A younger brother and sister followed, and then the twins. As their family multiplied, so did their success. A second restaurant was opened and Ngozi quit her work at the law firm, establishing a freelance accounting business that allowed her to work from home, where she took care of her family and supported Ibrahim with the restaurants.

Olly loved being a big brother, and adored being raised in his family's restaurants. He was often tasked with minding his siblings while his parents closed shop, but chefs taught him proper knife techniques and he listened to the waiters' gossip.

When the Hogwarts Headmaster arrived to inform him of his magic, he was surprised. He'd noticed strange things happened around him, but he'd always assumed he was just lucky. That was why that frog he'd chased had once seemed to fly into his hand, or that lollipop seemed to grow in size. Memories of a moment in Nigeria where a cousin who had almost fallen into a ravine had seemed to float above the water came pouring back.

His parents were skeptical but on a second visit, with more information about the school and a proper demonstration of magic, they relented and agreed to allow him to go.

Hogwarts Years: At first, Olly was terribly homesick. In one hand he held the novelty and whimsy of this new world, with bright eyes and an open mind; in the other, his heart ached for home, for his family, for the normalcy and routine of the family business.

His first Quidditch match changed everything. Like every good British lad, he was a huge football enthusiast, and this new sport excited him even more. He begged his flying instructor to teach him anything and became a fast fan of the sport. By second year he'd befriended an older girl on his house team who agreed to show him the ropes. He found he had a talent for Keeper, ironic because he'd always hated having to take on the goalkeeper position but often agreed when no one else would take it on.

He got on the team his third year. By then, he'd found his legs. He'd made friends and found subjects he enjoyed. During the summers, he threw himself right back into family life, training his eldest sister in the art of being the eldest sibling while he was away. They began visiting Nigeria for at least a few weeks every year and reconnecting with that side of the family.

His OWLs were a point of pride for his parents. Though just above average, they were proud of their son. They told their family that he'd been accepted into a private boarding school and they hoped their other kids would follow, despite the fact that the only kids to show any magical abilities thus far had been the rambunctious twins.
