Hallie had spent the good part of a month attempting to nurture her abyssian shrivelfig in herbology. It was almost about to bloom in her last herbology class when, to her misfortune, a fellow Gryffindor had accidentally ignited his own Shrivelfig. The flames had quickly danced across the workbench and before Hallie could extinguish the fire her abyssian Shrivelfig had wilted into blackened leaves. A hard months work for nothing, nothing but a fail grade on her last assignment.
Leaving the greenhouse in a rather disgruntled mood Hallie felt the need to let off some steam and thankfully herbology was her final class. After dumping her school bag in her dormitory Hallie grasped her broom from under the four poster bed, opened the dormitory window and began to mount her broom. She’d never made such an escape from a window ledge before, the only time she’d flown had been kicking hard from the ground, gradually ascending, this was the reverse. A rush of fear coated her insides. Looking down from the window ledge she gulped. If she didn’t maintain control quick enough she’d fall, potentially die and at the very least break a dozen bones. But this is what she wanted. A rush. A physical escape to complete consume her so she could forget about stupid Herbology and her abyssian Shrivelfig.
She jumped.
The window caused her robes to billow up behind her. Her feet fluttered for a moment trying to recover from the lack of holding and her body fell. Her knuckles whitened as she gripped her broomstick, which was now nose diving at speed towards the ground. Using all of her strength she heaved upwards, pulling herself up from the dive and drifting off over the lawn towards the lake. The adrenaline rush was pure ecstasy.
Hallie pressed on, gliding across the lake with water lighting spraying the back of her broom. Her golden locks frolicked behind her as she gasped for breath, wide eyed with joy.
Suddenly, a large tentacle raised itself from the water, Hallie swerved but she wasn’t quick enough. Her broomstick began to teeter out of control as she made to turn and …. SPLASH! Hallie had fallen from her broom and plunged into the lake, leaving her broom to drift autonomously in the direction of two girls by the shore.
