Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

A swift? No idea what the implications of that are, lmao.

I'm pretty unfailingly a Slytherin, on every test. Ravenclaw sometimes comes a close second. This is after spending my much younger years being always tied between Gryffindor and Slytherin. I think there's generally a random element to it, though, and Hufflepuff seems to be surprisingly common.

Actually, lots of horse people associate certain temperaments with certain colors, and because most horses are pretty strictly bred, the horse color can sometimes directly correlate with breed types. It'd probably be more accurate if they assigned breeds, like Arabians vs Quarter Horses, etc, but they probably simplified it to be more user-friendly. It's definitely not something you'd be able to recognize on the patronus, with some exceptions because a paint or an appaloosa would have tell-tale signs, but it's kind of the same as distinguishing between certain cats. Some cat breeds look remarkably similar but with different markings, so if they're going to assign different cat breeds, guess they could stretch to horse color.

I actually used to work with horses. Different colorings also have different markings. Chestnut horses probably don't have the same varieties as, say paint or palomino. But those would be pretty easy to tell the difference between, even in patronus form. Maybe they mean it's all the same, that it doesn't have a particular pattern. I think that chestnut horses are known to be rather temperate, while others are more spirited or tend to take off on you. But that also depends, obviously, on how they're treated/trained. So it's sort of a mindset rather than a definitive thing.
