Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

POTIONS CLASS - Page 2 Empty Re: POTIONS CLASS

Post by Darcy Driscoll Sun Sep 13, 2015 8:45 pm

Calixta was taken aback by the professor's gentle rebuke. Some people clearly were stupid. She was beginning to think the professor was one of them.

And it wasn't as though Calixta had denied accidents happen. She'd said they specifically happen because of people's stupidity. It was true.

She wondered if she could complain about the woman to the Headmaster.

But she wasn't about to contradict the professor. That was the quick route to losing house points and detentions and probably worse. Calixta had heard horrible things about detentions at Hogwarts, like having to do menial work the muggle way. Ew.

She didn't even bother to open her book to figure out the answer to the professor's next question. She had tried and it had done nothing for her. The awful woman would have to find someone else to pick on.

"Very good Mrs. Rosewille, those are the alternative ingredients but i'm looking for something a little more simple. More standard." Riyan said smileing at the girl in the front row that seemed to take her question seriously as the others acted like they didn't believe what she said.
"Can anyone tell me the basic things you would need to make any potion?" She asked looking around for the answer she was searching for. this defiantly wasn't going to be as easy as she though it had been when she took the job as a professor. Who knew what would happen next if the student's even responded.

POTIONS CLASS - Page 2 Empty Re: POTIONS CLASS

Emily barely did pay attention in the classroom. She had no clue what was going on for sure. She saw some thing names pop up on board but she had no idea what exactly she should do with them.

Actually she heard what professor asked but she had no clue what the answer even was for the question. She have never been strong in potions. She barely knows what those things on board even did and how they looked like. She knew she will mess something up here for sure.

Well in her case you can say it's stupidity why she makes mistakes.

She really hoped that someone will answer and they can end it fast.

POTIONS CLASS - Page 2 Empty Re: POTIONS CLASS

Post by Ophelia Claire Rosewille Wed Sep 23, 2015 7:23 am

She smiled to herself, but it was hidden from the world by her hand which was rested on her chin. Unlike the others who seemed to be bored, Ophelia was indeed trying to think with the teacher. And as she was praised, hopefully she'd get some points for Ravenclaw at the end of the lesson for participating too, she did not dare to look around.

"Generally speaking we'd need some water, bottles into which we'd pour our potions into later and a brewing stand. And of course fire to heat the whole thing up."

Well, the professor had asked for the Basic things and Ophelia delivered the answer. Again, she did so quietly so only the teacher could have heard her.

"You add water to the cauldron, heat it up and add a primary ingredient. This has no effect whatsoever. By adding the second ingredient you will finally get something, but you also need to be careful of the instructions: as in you have to make sure you twist and turn the ingredients clockwise or counter-clockwise."

Those words, too, were mumbled more to herself than to anyone else besides the teacher, but who knew, maybe someone else wanted to say something.

The Ravenclaw was mumbling to herself. Malaika wondered if the poor girl had some kind of compulsive problem. Unable to not respond to the question, the words came tumbling out, even if it was in an undertone.

Nevertheless, she had provided the right answer, although Malaika believed her understanding was flawed. Then again, everything in the United Kingdom was flawed.

"All potions are created from an inert base," she said, a small smile painting her lips.

"Making a potion is a bit like baking. Yeast makes bread rise but too much salt makes it flat. Different potions ingredients are the same way. Some of them might explode, other ones can neutralise the explosion so you get the result you want."

"Very good girls." Riyan smiled at the two in front,  "Five points to the both of you. Now everyone open your books, turn to page 20, and take out your ingredients. Its time to get to making the potion."
Riyan felt like she was forgetting something though she wasn't quiet sure what it was. hopefully she'd find out soon.
