What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

So--since summer is all about warm weather fun, what are those events or foods that you just "gotta have" in the summer to make it feel like summer? What can you not live without in the summertime?

I don't know that it would feel like summer, for me, without a night at the firepit, roasting hot dogs, making s'mores and looking up at the stars. That's one of my must haves.

Our town has a music festival every year where the high schools play music by a specific composer, and then a local county symphony plays sections from operas and things by that same composer. It's usually just after school ends for the year so it's right after I come home from university.

Plus, afterwards the newspaper I work for funds this huge fireworks show. It's pretty spectacular.

That sounds amazing.

I've been going to Fort Worth for the last several summers, but I"m not going this year. In an odd way, it doesn't feel like summer without a week being miserable in 115 degree heat. ROFL. Oddl enough, I really miss it. (Not to mention I miss the AWESOME steak and bbq!)

No way? We totally go to Fort Worth every summer for the fourth to see my Grandparents. That's so funny! I heart there were, like, guys flying around on hoverboard-esque shoes and all kinds of crazy. But this year I went to my roommate's for the fourth and we set off fireworks in the street xD My county banned fireworks because of the drought, but apparently Houston is cool with it.

And oh my gosh the BBQ in this town nearby is just like astoundingly good. We're going next Wednesday for a birthday dinner for a family member and GAH. BEST. PLACE. EVER.

This is the first summer me and my two best friends have all lived in different places. We have something called the Peach Festival on the 4th every year and usually at least two of us get together, but the one who still lived here moved to Fort Worth with her husband. It doesn't really feel like summer with us all apart.

Addie, if you're going for BBQ, I hope you're going to Riscky's! Best bbq on the planet.

Ok, another summer must have--homemade ice cream. Just made some buttermilk ice cream, and I think I might decide to use it as my base from now on.

The Black Keys.

Two years ago, I had one of the best summers of my life, and the Black Keys were the soundtrack to that summer. Though they bring up some sad thoughts now, they also always make me feel summer-y.

I haven't been there, Khaat, but I'll add it to my list xD If you end up in Central Texas, there's an AMAZING place called Cooper's. Favorite ever.

So the high schools are starting their band rehearsals in a few weeks, and I always get to go out and help the Colorguard since I used to be Captain (about two years ago), and I'm way too excited about it.

Apparently President Bush goes there sometimes.

More of a "must get done" than a must have, but I always do doctors/dentists appointments in summer so I don't have to during school. Blech.
