Welcome to Potter’s Army

Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

I. The Masquerade

-The Masquerade is an organization based on Non-Deadly dueling. Once a duel has begun, anything goes. Dirty tricks, manipulation and betrayal are all welcome here.

II. Secrecy/Membership

-Though you may be aware of this organization Out of Character, there are only a select few of you who will receive an invitation to The Masquerade. Therefore, if you have not received an In Character invitation you must work to get one before you start dueling. (You must first become a member to the group.) It is requested that you keep the knowledge of this organization to yourself. However, we do wish to grow as a whole. You are all welcome to bring new members on your own invitation, but I ask that you only bring those you trust the most.

III. Dueling

-After you have become a member, you will also decide if you will be dueling in one of two categories: Adults or Students. Students can decided to be paired against adults upon the student’s request, but adults will not be paired against the students unwillingly.

-Each duel will be placed in its own thread where each duelist will have two weeks to complete a maximum of three posts. Each name will be paired with another and a date in which you must complete the thread well be set.
Example: Title: Potter Vs. Lupin
Description: Duel- Oct. 1 – Oct. 14

(click on your name a begin your duel)

IV. Anonymity

-Everyone will receive a small package along with their invitation. Within the package each character will find means by which they can remain an anonymous dueler. You may choose whether or not to remain anonymous. Keep in mind other characters may view showing your face as a sign of respect after they have beaten you, should you be beaten.

V. Winning

-Unless a duelist summits to their opponent no one will “win” a duel. Instead we will leave it to a member’s vote. After the time in which you can complete your duel, the members will decide the winners. A Voting section will be opened and each person will vote for the top 4 duelist they feel competed the best. From there the winners will move to the semi-finals. After the semi-finalists have dueled, another vote will take place for the top 2 duelist. The pair will face off and a final vote will take place to establish the winner.

VI. Voting

-While voting please keep in mind several things:
1. Creativity-
How creative was the character during the duel?
Did they use their surroundings?
Did they pull off an impressive feat?
2. Realistic-
Was the character playing realistically?
Did the character make logical sense in everything they did?
Remember: Your characters aren’t invincible. They may get hit with a spell or two or even become greatly injured. Don’t be afraid to get hurt a little. Nothing here will kill your characters. This will not be our only duels so you will have a chance to compete again should you be beaten
3. Story-
What is going on inside the characters mind?
Are they staying in character or doing thing a little out of the ordinary?
-Overall you may vote how you see fit. When reading the duels keep in mind whose duel you are reading. A duel between two adults may need to be viewed a bit differently than a duel between students.

- Also, try not to vote for your own characters. I realize some of you may be playing with more than one character, so try to send your votes to others you think have competed well.

VII. Prize

-The winner of the final round will receive a prize.
