What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Sure- why not complicate matters? - Page 2 Empty Re: Sure- why not complicate matters?

Sofie focused her aim on the male, but he had already sent another spell hurling her way, which she dodged- but only just. The woman looked graceful in a fight, not ruthless or crude, almost as if she were dancing a quick ballet. However, the dodge distracted her from the next spell, and she had barely started to scoot away when the ground in front of her exploded.

A huge chunk of cobblestone crushed her shoulder and she whipped it away, checking it. It was fine. It would bruise but it was okay. The little one would pay for this. Sofie focused her magic and with a flourish released a "Diffindo!" aimed right between the two to strike either.

She was blinded by sparks. Her arm caught fire and she quickly stepped back, beating the flames from her. However, sparks filled her vision and she blindly sent curses flying towards the Aurors as the fireworks forced her backwards.

The act of dancing out of the line of fire of a stunning spell was no true challenge. In fact, it was with a thrilled laugh that Nemo twirled. In doing so, however, he had neared the protection charm that he’d cast around Jack enough to have been caught in the resulting flame of the male Death Eater’s blasting curse, which reflected off of the shield as it deteriorated. He ducked, one hand clutching at the burned flesh of the right side of his face and hissed in his attempt to recover from the blow.

"Watch my back!"

Nemo uncurled from his previous, hunched position and righted his stance in spite of the white hot pain that had engulfed his temple, “Yeah,” He agreed as he faced their opponents once more. Nemo aligned the tip of his wand with the male Death Eater and gave it a silent flick Expelliarmus, before withdrawing with his free hand several of Jack’s trick wands from his pocket. He gave a moment’s pause before throwing them along the street towards the man in the hope presenting him with a difficult scavenger hunt.

"Move, move, move!" Nemo warned Jack of the incoming curses as he leapt forward, rolling over his head with his chin tucked against his chest along the ground, only narrowly avoiding the collision of another of the masked Death Eater's spells with himself. He skidded to a halt, landing as intended on his left knee with his right foot planted firmly on the ground. He steadied himself with his left hand as the other set to work with another flourish of his wand towards the woman. Stupify.

They had shot fireworks at them. It was extremely distracting but Alder just used a simple shielding charm to deflect most of them, though some got to him before he had cast it. After that was done, he watched as the male auror blocked his blasting curse but it harshly rebounded on him and he had gotten burned by the flames.

Alder saw the auror use a disarming charm. His wand was aligned exactly with his wand and it flew all of the way behind him, further down the street. He "apparated-flipped" in Snape form and quickly re-gathered himself along with his wand. He apparated back next to Sofie. The auror had sent a stunning charm her way. "Finite Incantatem!" Alder casted as a counter-spell to stop the effects of the spell.

Alder was quite pissed at them. They were practically toying with them now. He decided to try a finisher. "Avada Kedavra!" He had shot at the girl.

Poe called at her to move and she glanced up to see the woman shoot a spell at them. Jack wobbled out of the way, but the diffindo cut her elbow, slashing a small gash up her arm. Jack wiped the excess blood as she cast a shield charm and followed after her rolling friend, calculating what she could do.

A green flash filled her vision and she threw herself down to the ground. The curses flew over her head and she pulled her knapsack up. She began to look through her bag and pulled out a cloak. It was made like the Headless Hats, but covered one's entire body- however, it was easy to tear and burn, unlike an Invisibility Cloak. Jack tossed it to Poe and called over the whirring of curses, just loud enough for his ears only, "Get them from the back. I can distract. I'll do clown tricks." She grinned to show him she was serious, but unafraid.

Her heart pounded madly. She pushed herself away from him, pulling out two decoy detonators. She hit the buttons and said, "Look, guys!" She juggled them badly and counted the time, careful to dodge their spells. As they were about the explode, she threw them towards the Death Eaters. Loud noises and lights expelled from the devices as they flew at the Death Eaters.

Despite the injury that he had received and the danger that remained, hanging thick in the smokey evening air, Nemo found himself laughing once more at the unorthodox dueling methods that he and Jack had brought to the fight. He paused, so to bring a cautious finger to the burn that had rendered his skin an ugly red and he grinned to himself, giving his head a single downward shake.

"Avada Kedavra!"

Nemo was startled from his stupor by a fatal stripe of green, his breath catching in his chest as he beheld the Unforgivable on its trek towards Jack. Only after she had successfully maneuvered out of the killing curse's path did he exhale shakily. It was certainly not a benefit, fighting alongside someone for whom he could not prevent himself from feeling concern. No matter how skilled a tag team they were.

Nemo snatched the cloak that he'd been thrown and matched Jack's grin, before sweeping himself up in the enchanted fabric and springing from the ground. With light footsteps, Nemo crept quickly down the alley, wand at the ready and buzzing with the energy of the spells he'd cast a moment prior. He stepped away from the wall and slid behind the masked Death Eater, "Incarcerous". Cuff, he recited the routine, producing his Ministry issued handcuff from a pocket in his denims, preparing to seize the woman's wrists, should his curse have been successful.

The smoke began to clear and Sofie managed to dodge the spells thrown at her. She had already sustained damage and had done little to these newcomers. These two were not predictable and it was frustrating Sofie. Alder wasn't much help, not for a man who walked so cocksure a walk.

The girl had fallen and something rolled from her bag. Sofie dodged a rebounding curse and swiped at the fallen object. Peruvian Instant Darkness Powder? She looked up, to see another diversion. The redheaded girl was mad- absolutely insane... Juggling? And suddenly, a flying diversion hurled towards her. She ducked and heard a voice. She was wrapped by ropes, but before they tightened, she threw the package down, and darkness enveloped them.

She had seen Alder and she tripped towards him. She collided with his body- he was taller than the Auror and she commanded, "Grab my arm." With that she turned on her heel, and disapparated the both of them away.

Nemo had believed himself to have gone blind, due to the startling abruptness with which the darkness had descended upon them. "Jack?" It was instinctual, the utterance of her name as his wand lost its hold on his target and he stood, thrumming with fear. He struggled against the deprivation, peering madly through the black in search of anything. He turned in a jarring snap of his heals along the cobblestone, moving towards the all too familiar sound of a disapparating individual, to no avail.

"F***!" He shouted with a violent swing of his leg against the darkness. You lose! His subconscious taunted him merrily when it struck Nemo that the Death Eaters had gone.

His shout echoed throughout the street as he grew momentarily silent, his own breathing frustratingly apparent to his straining ears. But there were no spells fired; no advances made by their opponents. He and Jack had truly been left alone. Experimentally, Nemo slid forward, wand hand rigid at his side. "McDonald? You still breathing over there?" He attempted.

Darkness suddenly fell. Jack stared around. What could possibly stop the light of not only the decoy detonators, but also the street lights and the moon and stars. Jack racked her brain, trying to figure out what had been done so she could counteract it. And that was when she realized- it was Peruvian Instant Darkness Powder. How absolutely dreadful - losing to her own product.

"Shit," she whispered. "Ah bloody damn! Curse it all to hell!" she said, stomping a foot in a huff. She heard Poe's voice and she whipped around, towards the sound. She turned to speak to him but first she tried a lumos, though she knew it was in vain. Again, the embarrassment of losing to something in her own shop- unbelievable.

Suddenly, she heard an outburst from her friend and she whispered, "Hey" in what was meant to be a calming voice. He called out for her again and she answered "I'm here." She tried walking towards him, her arms outstretched. "It's Peruvian Darkness Powder. There's no counter spell, it dissolves after awhile." She sighed. This was great.

Post by Nemo Omara Wed Aug 22, 2012 4:47 am

Proof of Jack's survival was an eagerly anticipated reassurance, despite Nemo's wholehearted belief that a mere pair of Death Eaters proposed no true threat to the wrath of his companion. It drove his heart to flip and his lips to part with the expulsion of a poorly stifled sigh. "Keep talking," Nemo insisted, boots crawling slowly onward towards the sound of Jack's voice. His arm jumped upward in search of her form, only to grasp at the eerie nothingness; a sensation which set his instincts alight. "I can't-" he huffed, growing increasingly frustrated by his inability to act on his impulses.

He slid further and extended his fingers, which presently acted quite like an insect's antennas as they flexed throughout the air in search of contact. "I lost them," He informed Jack through gnashing teeth. "They were right there. I should have - I should have -" He took a larger step than he'd intended in his angered state and stumbled as a result.

Her friend commanded her to continue speaking and Jack flailed for something to say, continuing towards his voice. She shook her head, grasping at strings, before she just blurted, "Did you know the human foot sweats up to a cup a day? And when a snake is born with two heads, the heads fight each other to eat?"

Yes, there were a few random facts rolling around in that skull of hers that occasionally came to be of use.

The Auror was frustrated, but his voice was getting louder. She lowered her arms, making sure she was not going to smack him in the forehead. She heard a clatter and felt a nearness. She reached out and caught her friend, saying, "Hey. I know. We were surprised." She tried helping him up. "We'll get them."
