Ginevra's task Empty Ginevra's task

Heres Ginevras novel

ARRIVING - FIRST DAY

Ginevra had finally made it. Here she was standing in front of the meeting place the clue had given her, all ready for whatever was in front of her. It had been odd, the clues the object had given her, but like the second task she wasn't expecting anything easy and she wasn't expecting to be doing it with ease; no one was perfect, after all. What could be found clothing his blonde was a pair of blue and silver robes with matching runners and bathing suit which she had layered underneath for reasons unknown to her. With her blue eyes shining in wait for the judge she was suppose to meet, she was practically jumping up and down as she wanted to make her house proud and to do that, Ginevra knew she had to start.

Smiling widely as a short judge with brown hair and an expressionless look on his face rounded the corner, Ginevra turned away to hold in a laugh at the look he had upon his features and just followed behind after she was gestured. Skipping in excitement, she could have shown the judge muttered something about her being crazy. Grinning, she knew it was probably to do with her carefree mood. Taking a deep breath, Ginevra brought her thick hair back up into a ponytail on top of her head and made a face at the boat that was coming up. They were going on water? Sighing, Ginevra was glad she had thought to wear a bathing suit.

When on the boat with the grim-looking judge, Ginevra just sat back and looked at the scenery. She had been on boats while she was little, growing up in a muggle town. Turning as the judge gave a little cough to catch her attention, she noticed she had zoned out into her own, day-dreaming world. Giving him a shrug and a look that said sorry, she just waited. 'You are too use as little magic as you can in this task, Miss Malenki." he started to speak as she rolled her eyes at the sound of her last name. Knowing he'd ignore it, she listened to him continue. "Survive as you can like a muggle would, after two days, go to the bottom of the hills and there you will find your final challenge to cross. There you will be tested as if you do not retrieve the cup, you do not have a chance at winning."

Looking at him as he stopped, Ginevra's mind was wandering on the possibilities of what the things at the hill could be. She knew by the tone in his voice that she was not to go to the bottom of the hill, or anywhere near it for that matter, until the two days had passed. When he gestured towards the front of the boat, Ginevra was confused until she turned her head that way and noticed they had actually stopped. Laughing quietly at herself, Ginevra got up and tucked her hand in her pocket, merely making sure she did actually have her wand with her. Feeling the lump in her pocket, she smiled as she walked carefully forwards, watching her feet as she knew she was never able to trust her own balance, especially not when getting off from boat to sand.

Watching as the boat left, Ginevra sighed and then turned around the the island behind her. What was this place? She guessed it was deserted, until now, or at least just used for things like the tournament. Gritting her teeth together, she knew it should be easy for her as she had come camping, or at least what her dad had called camping, and slept under the stars, watched him get fire wood and look for food. It had all been very odd to her as she didn't know why they didn't sleep in a tent, but obviously, she had looked up to him and never questioned, just learned. Wishing he was alive so she would be able to thank him, Ginevra sighed as she looked around.

The sky was a red-ish orange color, just meaning the sun was setting and smiling at that fact, she ran her hand through her hair that was hanging from the ponytail before setting off towards the trees ahead. Stepping into the darkness and outside of the sunset, she wondered if Betsy, Jess or Mariana were on the island somewhere. Thinking it was more than likely, Ginevra just pushed the thought away and looked at the trees. How was she supposed to get wood to start a fire? Of course she knew she could always use a simple hearing charm but that was using magic and for her it was just not going to do. She didn't want the 'eternal glory' all she wanted was to prove something, mostly to the Slytherin's who thought they would win because they were best; or so they thought.

Thinking, Ginevra looked around and saw nothing more than little sticks that her feet stepped on while she was walking over. Moving forward and looking straight ahead, Ginevra fell to the ground with the thud and rubbed her head as she looked behind her for the cause as it had felt big. Oh yes, who could forget the big sticks, almost logs, that were lying around? Shaking her head, Ginevra went over to the thing she had tripped over and attempted to pull it forward with her. Pulling up with her arms, she let out a big breath as she dropped it the mere inch she had picked it up. How could a thing be that heavy! Placing her hand on her chin, she tilted her head to the side and sighed; Over at the end of the log, Ginevra decided to use a different approach and just push with her legs instead of lifting with her arms.

With her face going redder than it normally was, it took Ginevra fifteen minutes to get it to where she wanted it to be. Feeling her legs shake from uses so much energy, she knew she know hated logs that size, like really, why would it be that heavy? Muttering to herself, she decided then she didn't care about cutting the thing, she would just put fire to it, wait, wouldn't that be to long? Sighing, she could feel the light bulb go off in her head. A wind blocker! Gathering plenty of little sticks, Ginevra had nearly crawled on her way back as her legs hurt to much now. Resisting the urge to kick is, she knew it wouldn't turn out well at all. Closing her eyes and trying to remember how she had seen her dad do it, she was glad for her clear images of him for once in a long time.

It had been years since she had seen it done and when she had been little, she had not known what it'd been like. Sighing, she grabbed two rocks, or what she thought was rocks, and let out a scream when her thumb started to throb. Looking down at the ground, she saw a small red crab side-stepping away from her. Her eyebrows pulling together in frustration, Ginevra knew she would have to keep herself able to pay attention or she would injure herself with the most obvious things before finding out the hard part!

With her hands throbing, Ginevra knew she had indured much worse pain in the past so as her breathing staggered for a second, she just waited and closed her eyes until she imagined the pain away. Obviously she could still feel it but just thinking of something else was what made her smile and continue what she was doing as if nothing had happened; something she was good at seemed to be tricking her own mind to think things that weren't true. With orange sparks flaming from the top, Ginevra gave her own little cheer as she saw the small flames go up. Feeling tired, hunger didn't even comes to the girls mind as she didn't eat to much, not even when at home. Knowing she was perfectly good at least until the morning, Ginevra just went a safe, but still warm, distance from the fire and rested on the ground, her head laying on the sand and her body pressing up against the over-large log.

THE NEXT DAY

Waking up the next morning, Ginevra rubbed her eyes and looked around her. It seemed a little dark to her still but she was awake and didn't feel like sleeping any longer; sleeping was another thing Ginevra was not too fond of. Shaking her head so she could get the sand out of her hair, she closed her eyes and listened as it made a soft and high sound when colliding with the log. Looking at her success of making a fire, the pile was long burned out and she smiled at the thought of not having to use magic and it being her second day already. Tomorrow morning was the day where she could finish the thing once and for all. Deciding she had one goal and only that goal, she was just aiming to make her house proud. What else could a girl really ask for?

Streching nice and wide, Ginevra got up and then walked to the water. Kicking off her runners and her socks, she just went until her robes were dangling above the water, just enough so she still was not touching the water with them. Shivering as she felt the wave of ice cold water go through her, she really hoped she wouldn't have to swim through it at any point soon, or at all, if she was actually lucky for once. Bending down and making her hand into a cup, she closed her eyes as she scooped up water and slashed it onto her face. Making a sound as it hit her, she knew it was because of how cold it was and nothing else. If it had been a little warmer she would have even called it refreshing.

Knowing she had nothing to bring along with her but her wand, she remembered the image she had in her head of the islands mass when she was coming up on the boat and she knew it wasn't exactly what she'd call small if she had to cross it by foot. Today was the day she'd set off towards the hills that the judge said, as she had no clue where they were. Knowing it would take all day, she didn't feel hungry but knew if she didn't eat she would only get weak overtime. Obviously having seen very few edable things, she knew she couldn't get it by her wand as it was the one thing that you couldn't do with a wand was make food appear. What would she eat then? Berries, fish? Debating as she mused through her ideas within her head, she hadn't decided until she remembered she was walking away from the water so fish was automatically out of the picture unless she wanted to walk back. Yeah, right.

Walking for hours on end, Ginevra had just eaten some berries she had found on the way. Looking for things that would tell her they were potioness, she took her chances with it anyways, though she had been unsure. She found herself wanting to sit down after awhile, her eyes becoming shifty because of the quietness; it was making everything so eerie around her, not something she was enjoying as it had been like that with the second task, also. Ginevra had still yet to use magic the whole time but it didn't mean she didn't have her wand out. On the contray, she had it gripped tightly in her hand, not caring what she lost if she had to end up using it, only that she lived as she had many things she still wanted to do.

Hours on end passed as Ginevra walked and walked and finally when it got dark she knew she couldn't go any further. No matter how good she was at denying herself the sleep she needed, she knew the energy would be needed. No creatures had come in her path or anything, this mean't the final thing was something that would be bad, something that could top getting attacked at random. Or at least this was what was going through her mind as she yawned and sat on the cold, hard and muddy floor. Sleep seemed to capture her fast as she was aware of the coldness that crept over her body but the darkness had already consumed her, making it something that didn't wake someone who could fall so deep asleep like Ginevra could.

GETTING THE CUP FROM THE GIANTS!

Waking up with a jolt, Ginevra's eyes widened as she tried to figure out if she had just dreamed of the sound that had awoke her in the first place. It had been loud, rough and what sounded like in the near distance. Her hair was all over the place, sticking up left and right but that was the least of her worries, another thing she was glad of, not being a girly-girl. Taking slow breaths in and out, Ginevra got up. The sound had been like a growl, a roar as she would put it but really, that sounded cheesy. What could it have been? Definitly not something small, this made her uneasy.

Getting up at a fast speed, Ginevra felt slightly dissy as it had been faster then intended. Falling over sideways, she found herself back on the ground but rocking on what seemed to be an edge. Holding back a scream at the sight she guessed it held for her if she were to look down, she quickly rolled the other way. Sighing, she crawled back towards it, pearing over to just find her eyes on the verge of popping out of her head. Giants! Where they kidding? With her heart rate picking up, Ginevra didn't need a confirmation as she saw what was in the middle down there, something was shining and something was waiting for her to get it; the cup, no doubt.

Taking a deep breath, this obviously wasn't going to be the safest thing but it was something she had to do. Taking her wand in her hand, she knew she wanted to try the sneak approach, attempt to not be seen, she was small to them afterall, how hard would it be? Standing up so she could get a better view of around her, Ginevra didn't want to turn her back for a second, so taking a deep breath, she was going to do something faster than foot, something that she would have to use magic to get; her broom. Sure, it was at Hogwarts but if she 'called' it, it was sure to show up. Turning away and out of sight again, Ginevra spoke, "Accio Firebolt!" in a clear voice as she waited.

With her first ounce of magic being used, she was happy to see her broom come flying in just before she was thinking she had failed with the spell. Catching it when it came to her, she mounted it while it was sitll going and stayed low to the ground, watching the giants feet as she flew, knowing one wrong move and she could end up dead. Her breathing was fast and hard as she dodged left, right and even moved a little height when objects were found cluttering the ground. She was just so close she could feel victory of finally getting out coming to her.

Ginevra had thought a second too soon, though, as she had reached out for the cup, she heard a loud 'grawl' echo from behind her and then just as she went to look up, she bailed from her broom just in time to see it being crushed by the giants foot. Screeching loudly, Ginevra knew no spells could do anything to something so big, she had looked it up in her third year, did she just run for it? Deciding that was it, she just jumped and reached for the cup, hating herself for leaving her broom as she just loved it so much. Her hand wrapping around the candle, Ginevra closed her eyes and felt her feet lift off the ground, the cup being a portkey taking her back to the school.

Arriving back, Ginevra heard the music but didn't actually take it in. She felt her knees give way as she crashed to the ground. Her legs were bruised from tripping more than once, her face was pale white from fear of seeing her death being several inches away and her hair wasn't the best either, with it sticking up in the worst ways imaginable. Looking at the ground as she just laid there, Ginevra passed out unconcious, tired for too much that seemed like nothing in two days. She didn't care who won, but she was curious to know once she finally stired back into conciousness...
