Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Silvyr stood in a dark alley watching as locals of the city passed by without noticing the man leaning on the building with his back. He had a personal agenda to take care of today and he was prepared to go where ever it took him to go. An art he had never studied before had been pulling on his curiosity for the past few months. Now that he found himself with some free time he was going to find the knowledge he needed. He walked out of the alley and began walking towards the Cauldron a few blocks down the road. It was unusually warm for the fall in London and his dark grey t shirt and a pair of slim black jeans suited him fine. The air was still and he enjoyed every minute of the walk. He got to the door and walked inside not stopping for a drink tonight. He made his way through the bar and got to the back room opening the magical doorway into Diagon Alley. The bricks moved slowly and Silvyr moved through briskly not in the mindset to admire anything besides what he was searching for. He walked through the streets noticing the lack of people occupying them. He didn't mind though. It was rare to be in public without being surround by people.

He walked up to the first shop on his list. Flourish and Bolts was a popular book shop for students going to Hogwarts so he felt it would be a suitable first stop. He walked inside and began looking for a wizard in charge. An old wizard appeared down one of the long tall book cases that lined the inside of the shop. The old man greeted him with a mindful eye noticing the wolf beside the him. "Can I help you." The old man asked. Silvyr spoke diligently, "Yes I hope so. I am looking for books on Latin. I'll take anything you have." He wasn't expecting much in a book store such as this but he had to exhaust every source. The old wizard lead the way deep into the shop, stopping at a large section of books. "This should suite your need." He said softly. Silvyr nodded as the old wizard excused himself back to his work. Silvyr looked around for what felt like minutes but turned to hours as he looked through all of the books. Some on the origins of Lating, others on the History. It wasn't until an hour and forty five minutes had passed did he find what he was looking for. He picked up a dusty old book on the top shelf. The cover was a dark brown leather and slightly worn, it was clear to him that it hadn't been moved in years. As he opened it he heard the binding crunch and release as the pages had become crisp during its extended stay in the book shop. The first page only held one sentence written in beautiful English handwriting. Words are filled with the power the soul possesses.

He read through the pages as it was exactly what he was looking for. It was the beginning to his new study. Throughout the pages were English words and their translation in formal and common Latin. He read through every page, hearing the words and their beauty in pronunciation. His only comparison was the feeling of the soft touch of a beautiful woman's naked body close to his. He ran through almost every word wondering which ones would unlock the ideas in his heart and mind. He walked through the store for a few seconds looking for the old wizard again and to his surprise he heard him call out to him from behind. "Was there something else on your list sir?" Silvyr turned and began walking towards him as he spoke. "Yes, there was actually. Do you have any books on," He stopped speaking until he was standing in front of the man,"spell creation?" he continued his sentence softly even while standing face to face with the man. The man did not seem surprised though he spoke softly as well. "I'm sorry sir but you see with the amount of students that come in and out I haven't my hands on any books of that nature for a considerable amount of time. You may have to go a little deeper into the magical community to find such books. His eyes telling all." Silvyr understood and replied. "Well then I will only be needing this for today." he said as he turned towards the front. He hadn't ruled out the possibility of going to the Dark arts shops though he would have enjoyed not needing to. He purchased the book and left the shop as he turned and headed towards the shops he had wished to avoid.

The streets were still considerably empty as he walked through them passing the shops of brooms and prank items. He never understood why time was wasted in such ways, but he did not care. In his eyes it was a sense of to each his own rather than judgement. He walked briskly with his book in hand looking for the next shop that would have the books on his list. He approached the next book shop that he felt confident might be able to supply him with what he needed. He entered the old book store which was much different than the last. Obscurus Books was a store that held the books that could easily lead a young witch or wizard into deathly trouble. A shop he knew was needed in his search. He walked around though help was not as easily found in the section he had gone into. The front of the store was well lit and enticing to young ones in the wizarding world displaying popular titles and Authors. Though as he made his way back through the store he realized the light had faded and he would be needing his wand to see if it continued this way. Finally he could see an elderly witch sorting through old books. He approached her and asked of books on spell creation and casting again softly.

She led him to exactly what he was looking for. Some were from first hand accounts on the subject while others seemed to be filled with speculation. He searched through the books picking the ones he would want to read later. He knew that his search for books on this subject would be much different than his last. He picked out the ones he felt would be able to teach him the most. He began gathering his books off the ground and stacking them up. He began to reach for one that laid close to a bottom row of books. As he grabbed it a small journal wedged in between two larger books caught his eye. He grabbed it curiously. It was made of a flimsy black soft leather and had frayed all around the edges and outside binding. He picked it up and began skimming through it. He couldn't believe how in depth the writing was on the subject it seemed to be. Every page led into the next explaining and teaching thought process on creating spells. Breaking down the different necessities of the process from intent, pronunciation, movement of the wand, and the amounts of magical energy needed for different classifications of spells.

He gathered the books he had found, and chosen, and moved to the front of the store. He put the books up on the table and paid for them accordingly. The witch hadn't known what the journal was but charged him near nothing for it. She told him that most journals in the shop had been some form of rambling of old crazy wizards. He was not going to correct her in this instance and left with his new books without saying a word. He made his way out of the shop and left Diagon Alley grateful he hadn't had to go where he first expected would be necessary to find information on the subject. As he walked back to where he had been staying with Leah he began to wonder who it had been that owned the journal before him. Who had gathered this immense amount of knowledge in a life time. All that had been on the inside of the front cover of the book were the letters A.D. carved into the leather in the lower right hand corner close to the binding. He had no idea who this wizard could be or where to began researching him but he was more than excited to begin studying his journal.
