a cold rainy day for a lonely girl Empty a cold rainy day for a lonely girl

Post by Elana Rivers Wed Sep 21, 2011 8:30 pm

It was a cold rainy day as Elana Rivers walked through the street of London looking through the windows at people with there firneds or loved ones. It was something Elana wished she had but she didn't. As her eyes tore off the window she looked up at the gray sky and sighed for that how she felt, cold and gray without any color in her life. As she looked away from the sky she kept on walking not minding that she was bumped into or not for she was quite use to being invisible to others. As she saw a small coffee shop she decided to head in there for a cup of coffee seeing how she was out almost all day walking around.

As she pushed the door opened the bell tinkled above her head but she simply jgnored it. As she walked through the small cafe she walked up to the bar area and sat on the stool. "What can I get for you hun?"the waitress asked her. "Just a cup of coffee if you will, please and thankyou."said Elana as the waitress set a cup down for her and filled it with coffee. "Thankyou."said Elana as she gotten out her money and paid for her coffee as she took a sip of it. Looking around she noticed the place wasn't that busy but everyone was probably at work but Elana was off today.

Angus had been tracking one of the Lupins's greatest arch enemies and he had followed the murderer into muggle London and disappeared by hopping onto a crowded subway and fading into a crowd of muggles. He sighed. He didn't exactly look like a traditional muggle either, dressed as he was. He was wearing his long black leather duster and a wide brimmed black leather hat. He fit in fairly well in diagon Alley, but not so much here. He slipped his wand quickly into the pocket of the long black leather coat.

He sighed heavily, disappointed. It was cold and wet, and he'd tracked that sod for miles only to lose him. He saw a coffee shop. Well, it was either a coffee shop or a diner. One or the other. The waitress behind the counter and when she looked up, it made Angus want to laugh out loud. She seemed to be immediately crushing on Angus from the second she laid eyes on him.

"Take any seat you like, Sweetie," she gushed. He simply walked up to the counter and took a seat.

"You have any decent coffee?" he asked. "I could use a warm up."

"Well, I think I could warm you up any day," she flirted with him. She turned and went to get his mug of coffee. Angus tried to stifle a bit of a laugh. He drew out a few coins and put them on the counter before realizing that two of them were sickles. He quickly scooped up the sickles and replaced them with muggle coins. 'Smooth, Angus,' he thought to himself. 'Real smooth. And how old are you? Why don't you just lay your wand out there and tell everyone here you're a wizard?' He had pretty much gotten done with berating himself silently in his head when she returned with the coffee mug. "Thank you," he said.

"Sure, Doll," she smiled sweetly. She was about to speak again when the short order cook in the back shouted at her.

"Order up!" the voice called. The waitress turned and left to pick up the food order. Angus picked up the coffee mug and smelled it. It was coal black and industrial strength. Good. That was a welcome thing.

As Elana heard the bell tinkled she whipped around to see a man that looks lie in his thirties walking into the coffee shop. From the looks of it he looked tired and from the looks of it he looked like to be a wizard but Elana could be wrong. As she looked back around and took another drink of her coffee she noticed the waitress was looking at him which made her laugh and shake her head. Keeping to herself she noticed he took a seat beside her as the waitress started filrted him recognizing the coins he gotten out she chuckled to herself. "Almost got youself caught there, let me guess long day?"Elana asked him softly as she went back to her coffee.

As the waitress that was flirtting with him gave her a dirty look she laughed. "Ooh... I better not be messing with you, she just gave me a 'don't mess with my man' look."said Elana still laughing. "Well... looks like you have youself a little crush, is it always like this for you?"Elana asked softly. "Sorry that was a bit nosey, it isn't none of my business."said Elana. As she gotten her book out of her bookbag she started reading as she seen the waitress coming up towards the man. "Here she comes."said Elana holding back a laugh as she seen the waitress wink at the man. "Oh I'm Elana by the way, Elana Rivers."said Elana sticking out her hand for him to shake.

"Elana," Angus repeated. So--she wasn't muggle. That was helpful to know. "Nice to meet you. I'm Angus Donohue..." The waitress returned and stuck a diner menu in front of Angus.

"Got some fresh pecan pie," she smiled her best smile at Angus. "Made it myself. Its still warm, if you're interested."

"Maybe later," Angus said.

"Suit yourself," she said, walking away. Angus resisted the urge to laugh.

"Women don't typically pay much attention to me at all," Angus laughed. "And then I end up looking like a first year. Thanks for not blowing it for me. It has indeed been a long day. I've been chasing a rather nasty fellow. He prefers the 'darker' side of things." He wasn't coming out to say he'd been following a death eater who had gone from bad to worse. "Its my job to stop him from hurting the people I work for. And I do take that very seriously. So what brings a girl like you to a place like this?" He wasn't used to finding anyone who was far better suited to Diagon Alley in muggle London.

"Nice to meet you Angus, I like your name it's very unique."said Elana softly before the waitress stuck a menu under Angus nose. Rolling her eyes she gave the waitress an annoyed look before the waitress walked off glaring at Elana. "I think she REALLY likes you, if looks could kill I would be dead right now!"said Elana laughing as she took a sip of her coffee. Elana nodded understanding where he was coming from. "I'm the same way, so don't feel bad."said Elana. "To be quite honest, I'm a bit shy around people."said Elana honestly. "I don't know why I'm not around you, I guess fro some crazy reason I feel safe around you."said Elana. "I know crazy right? when I just met you."said Elana.

Elana shook her head. "Oh it was nothing, and seems like you did have a long day and if he likes the dark ways of things I'll be willing to bet he's a death eater."said Elana. Elana wasn't the one to judge but to her the man Angus was after seemed dark enough to be in the death eaters center circle. As he asked what she was doing in London she shrugged. "I don't know really, I guess I'm just tired of seeing Diagon Alley and stuff I just thought I had to do some things the muggle way after all I am Muggleborn."said Elana. "I just prefer to do things the muggle way at times."said Elana shrugging.

"Yeah, well," he shrugged. "She wouldn't be my type. She would have a hard time in my neighborhood." He knew Elana would understand that he couldn't take a nonmagical muggle with no knowledge of their world into it. That might merit him a stay in Azkaban. And besides, the waitress really wasn't his type at all. She actually irritated him. Elana did not.

"He is a Death Eater, and I've fought him over and over for years. It seems he and I stalemate a lot. He's gone too far this time. He's hurt a member of my family and I intend to stop him once and for all. I missed him today it seems. So a bit of down time seems to be a better move. I'll get him. It just might not be today.

"I do understand how Diagon Alley getting to be stressful." Grindlewald made being a wizard just plain difficult. He'd noticed a steady increase of wizards going incognito into the muggle world to blend in rather than to stay in their own home turf. They were brushing up on muggle technology and some of them were buying property in other muggle communities, other muggle countries, and, basically, hiding in plain sight. And so far, it seemed to be working rather well because Grindlewald had such a widely known hatred for muggles that he rarely ventured there. It seems witches and wizards were thinking of survival and so far doing it well. "Its getting emptier there every day it seems. And perhaps that isn't a bad thing. I'd be careful if I were you. Being muggleborn puts you at far greater risk from our so called 'Minister' if you spend much time where he could find you. You might be safer in this section of town."

Elana chuckled and nodded. "Yes indeed she would, I was about to tell you she wasn't your type anyways."said Elana honestly. Elana knew the prices it would be if she was to ever tell a muggle she was a witch, it was quite a shock when her parents saw her get her Hogwarts letter in her first year. "God I don't think I ever met anyone as annoying as that waitress."said Elana. As she finished her cup of coffee she set it down and turned the waitress. "May I have another cup please?"Elana asked the waitress softly as the waitress gave her a dirty look like Elana was a piece od dirt on her shoe. "I'm afraid you'll have to pay for another cup."said the waitress in a sick sweet voice. "Oh... that's ok, but last time I was here all refills on coffee were free."said Elana as she gotten out her money to pay.

As the waitress took the money she poured Elana's coffee and walked off just as Angus was telling her about the man he was hunting. "I'm sorry he hurt your family I really am, I would go after him if he hurted my family as well."said Elana. Elana nodded. "Yeah you'll get him, and he'll regret even hurting your loved ones."said Elana giving him a soft warm smile. "So... what are you a auror or something?"Elana asked him curiously wondering what he was.

"I think everyone is afraid of Grindlewald plains so they rather just blend in with the muggles."said Elana sighing and shaking her head. "Where is the world coming to?"Elana asked softly as she took a drink of her coffee as she looked back at Angus. "I'll try to be careful I promise, and why does me being muggleborn put me in a major risk?"Elana asked him softly. Elana may work at the ministry but she was kept in the dark about alot of things so she was clueless about some stuff. "I try to blend in here as much as I can, I think alot of wizards are doing that and keeping a low profile waiting for Grindlewald to do something."said Elana.

Angus knew exactly why Elana's cup had not been free. When the waitress came to refill his cup, he put his hand over it to prevent her from refilling it.

"What's the matter?" she frowned.

"Your sign and your menu says coffee refills are free," he said.

"I wasn't going to charge you," she said defensively.

"I don't think I like your coffee much," he said. He looked at Elana. "I think we should go. I think we can find better quality coffee just about anywhere. My treat." Besides, he really wanted to have a little privacy to talk to Elana. There was no way he could adequately explain anything with so many muggles around. "I think its quit raining. How about taking a walk with me? I know a place we can go." He knew of a gourmet coffee shop in the next block that had a wizarding friend working there just to hide from what was going on in the wizarding world. At least they'd be safe there.

Elana looked at and smiled as he put his hand over his cup to keep the waitress from pouring him another cup of coffee. Elana nodded and gotten up from her seat and grabbed her long black trench coat before turning to Angus. "Thankyou Angus, you really didn't have to that but it was sweet of you to."said Elana softly as she put on her coat. When he asked if she wanted to take a walk with him she smiled. "Sure I'll love to, I'm ready whenever you are."said Elana softly. Elana was ready to get out of this so called cafe that the waitress treated like crap cause she had a crush on Angus and Elana was talking to him.

"Oh," Angus said, "One more thing. I saw your sign saying this place is for sale. Where is your owner?"

"He's the cook. He wants to retire," The waitress said.

"Tell him I'd like a word," Angus said. She went into the kitchen and called otu the owner. An aging grizzle haired man who had a gravely voice. Angus asked him what the asking price for the diner was. The man's offer was entirely too high. Angus made a counter offer that was purposely ridiculously too low. The man tried to come down slightly on his price and Angus made his offer lower, not higher. The man began to see that Angus was very serious and he started making a much more reasonable offer.

Angus then finally began to settle in close to where he wanted to be. They did some additional haggling and Angus finally got the price where he wanted it to be. It was a bargain. And the way he got it was to agree to pay him enitrely in cash within the hour. The man promised to sign over the deed to him when Angus returned.

Angus looked at Elana. "I presume you won't mind going with me to the bank while we're out" He offered her his arm so they could leave.
