Beginning of the end?

Sam yelped with pain as the ground he stood on burst into hot flames, jumping out of the way and pointing his wand at the ground. "Aguamenti," he muttered, extinguishing the leaping flames with a spurt of water from his wand.

Relief washed over him as a few more people joined the fray, seemingly fighting with him, not against him, that much was good. But then the werewolf arrived.

Crap.

With a yell of fury he pointed his wand at Naomi and shouted "Petrificus Totalus," aiming to stop the beast dead in its tracks, catching the site of some unknown foe flying through the air as a result of one of Jack's spells. "Good one," he muttered in her general direction, unsure of whether or not she'd even hear him.

Tilting his head a little he saw a retreating figure running down the front gate, heading straight for the gates of Hogsmeade. He was going to let her leave, but he thought he recognised her from somewhere in the forest. "Hey you," he shouted, running a little to catch up with her. "What's the hurry?" He asked, bringing his wand up to point at her.

People were so annoying.

Angelique dodged under the assumption that the boy would try something and without bothering to aim properly, shot a bat-bogey hex towards the person calling at her. That should shut him up.

Thaor had been taking a nap in the hut when he woke to a comotion outside. With a single glance out the window, he knew it was starting. He threw on his cloak, and headed out the door. He snuck to the front gates, and once outside of the grounds, disapparated. Appearing a second later at Malfoy Manor, the time had come to rally the troops.

Almost immediately, students began to spring from the shadows, each with their wand held at arm’s length, and sour incantations on their tongues. A flurry of sparks and wandlight whipped about the warm air, which caused Nerissa to feel much smaller than she truly was. She was standing along the very edge of the storm – but this safety was only momentary; upon being startled by a near hex, Nerissa fell forward, revealing herself.

For a short moment, Nerissa remained with her cheek rested against the chilled dirt, hiding just beneath the bolts that continued to erupt from the tips of the surrounding wands. Perhaps if she remained completely still, she would go unnoticed – after all, the situation was unbelievably chaotic, and Nerissa found that it was difficult to keep her eyes on one particular person for long.

“Oh dear,” Nerissa squeaked in a pitch that was inaudible to anyone other than herself, and hastily flipped over to lay on her back, so to regain the ability to draw her wand if necessary. Despite Nerissa’s intelligence, however, she had not yet mastered the ability of immediately pairing the situation with a suiting incantation, and would most likely freeze if given the opportunity to do so.

The bright bolts of magic that tore through the air just above Nerissa’s head had begun to blind her; bright splotches of color clouded her vision, no matter the number of times that she blinked. This was not, however, the most that Nerissa had to worry about; in an attempt to hide once more, Nerissa began to slide along the ground, using the heels of her feet to push herself backward – but she was stopped by a pair of thick shoes, which met with her skull. Rather than looking upward to see who she had run into, however, Nerissa found herself distracted by the sudden presence of several werewolves, which had begun to circle the area. "W-w-w..." Nerissa stuttered, incapable of spitting from her mouth the name of the creatures that she could not seem to tear her eyes from.

OOC: The shoes may belong to any Dark Follower that is a part of the current battle.

Jack cursed as she remembered what her original plan had been- alert the Order. It was time for them to act. She knew it. She supposed her summoning spell had been deflected or intercepted somewhere in the midst of all the flashing lights, so she rolled away from another jet of light. She righted herself and figured out her bearings before she turned and faced the castle.

She raised her wand and said, "Accio coin!" Before she could wait around, a Dark follower jumped in her path and raised his wand. She spun away and the flames that expelled from his wand grazed her forearm, burning her. She turned and they initiated a duel, wands flashing. She knew she needed to catch the coin, so she rammed him with her shoulder just as something collided with her stomach.

She grabbed it and felt the cool surface of the coin. The dark follower pushed her back and she felt herself stumble towards a werewolf, a black one hiding within the forest. He snapped at her and she jerked forward. That made her nervous. No one had control of those werewolves. She saw someone kicking something in the distance and she sent a spell flying towards them, a simple blasting spell to get them away.

Oooh, it seemed that Naomi was one of the main attractions. She could live with that, yes, that worked JUST fine for her. She felt the dog get a little more self aware, wanting to stand taller, to brush up her ruff, to look even more intimidating. The dog was a ham, a showboat, and now, it had an audience to please, and neither the dog nor Naomi wanted to let them down.

She felt wands following her, she was the one they would attack. Some boy shot a spell at her and she crouched, letting it zip past her. She pulled back her lips to bare her teeth and she found her eyes scanning the treeline. Her eyes locked with Nester and she dipped her head. Nester barked and turned, loping after the Gryffindor prat, some boy named Samuel, intent on making him his dinner.

That boy was going to be taken care of. Naomi scanned the situation, waiting for her food to play with her before she played with it. She paused to stretch and yawn loudly, hoping to unnerve everyone. She saw someone trying to run away. She loped after and lept in front of their path, slowly advancing until they ran back to the fray.

Kendall and Julia were up against three, but they were Dark Followers, kids who would not mind bringing harm to their peers. And Kendall felt his sadistic streak beginning to rise in him. The side people would not expect the flirt Romeo to have. Who knew he sometimes thought his partners would look better as corpses, or that he'd rather hear them moan in pain...

Well, they may be about to find out. The Samuel kid ran off before anything happened, leaving it two one two. HE pointed at the girl first, the Krum girl, and said, "Confringo!" He looked at the boy and grinned. "Stupefy! Engorgio!" He wanted to see them all hurt...

Waking from a nightmare about walking on hot coals, Selwyn found his dormitory already half empty. Where ever everyone was, it must be important for the bloody coin to be on fire like that.

He didn't bother about looking at the actual coin, instead pulling on his quidditch jersey and a pair of worn out tracksuit pants. Wand in hand, he slipped from the common room and made his way through the empty castle to where he could already her noises coming from out on the lawns.

Shouldering open the side door of the entrance hall, outside things looked even worse than he'd guessed. Shadows of both people and creatures were lit up by spells bouncing across the lawn.

He needed help and he needed it fast. Where was that Weasley girl when you needed her?

Although Lucy had stopped going to Potter's Army meetings, she hadn't given up carrying around their method of communication. She'd drilled a hole through it and kept it on a chain around her neck so she'd woken up gasping in pain tonight when it suddenly heated up and burned a hole in her pyjamas.

Dashing up to the entrance hall, because Merlin knew, her family was a target in these things and someone would have to keep them safe, she was startled to see the Thorfinn boy lurking near the doors.

Lucy drew her wand. Drat! She thought the rest of the family were stupid, but she didn't have her wand out yet!

"Get away from there," she told him.

Selwyn spun around to see the very person he'd been dreaming of pointing a wand at him and gesturing for him to move away from the doors. On second thought, he regretted leaving the coin in the dorms.

"Lucy," he said, slowly moving aside, "I know this is hard to believe, but I'm on your side. I've got one of those coins as well."

Lucy hesitated. Selwyn was a pain, but he'd never done anything to make her think he was really evil. Stupid, yes. Thoughtless, yes. Dysfunctional, yes, absolutely. Not evil though.

"Let's see it then," she demanded, hand out.

"Well, that's the thing. I don't actually have it with me." he replied. "It's in my other trousers."

"But you know I'm telling the truth. How would I even know there was a coin, otherwise? Look, we're wasting time. We need to get out there and help. There are werewolves out there."

"Werewolves? Oh crup it's full moon! I know you were using that to distract me, by the way."

"I think werewolves don't like fire," she went on. "Ummm... this is probably the wrong thing to say, but I think it might be best to set the whomping willow on fire."

"Can do," Selwyn answered.
