What Do You Have To Offer

It was one of the few nights where Piper had not been assaulted in the common room. It seemed when you were young and attractive but refused everyone's advances, it raised the stakes for the boys. There were few days where she went to the common room and she was not smooth talked, pinned against something, or stroked.

Luckily, she had a killer kick. You could tell which boys had already tried. They were still walking funny.

Tonight she was actually working on homework. Whether or not people believed it, Piper wanted to make something of herself, and the first step of that was good grades. Besides, it's not as if she had a social life to distract her from her work. So it worked all around.

Slythie!Handler was set on self destruction and that was something Angelique could respect. She stretched out on the lounge nearest the petite blonde and gazed at the girl, summing her up.

Dressed like a slag, so likely had absolutely no self confidence. Teased the boys but rejected their advances, so... what? Lesbian? No. Wanted everyone to love her but didn't want the bother of a relationship? More likely. In Angelique's experience, almost everyone who said they wanted love really only meant they wanted someone to worship them.

The way in was obvious.

"Is your hair naturally curly?" she asked. "It always looks so good. How do you get it to go like that?"

Piper looked up as a girl approached her. She squinted and then looked back down at her homework, assuming the girl was just moving to a more comfortable location. At her words though, Piper was prompted to look back up and scrunch her eyebrows. Piper did not memorize names well like her sister and this girl was older than her... Angelique. That was it.

Wait... Why was she complimenting her? Piper narrowed her eyes shrewdly. She was used to compliments meaning that something was wanted out of her. But it had been a long, terrible, no good week, and Piper was not in the mood for her usual repertoire of distrust and paranoia. Instead she said, "Yeah it is. I literally do very little with my hair. Just leave it to its own devices." She paused. "Thanks."

Angelique made an annoyed noise at this, as though it had been the wrong answer. It had been the wrong answer, although there was no way the younger girl could know that.

"I was hoping there was some sort of secret to it," she said wistfully. "Guess I'll just have to stick to Sleek Ezy's."

This conversation was going nowhere. Hell, this was barely a conversation. Maybe Piper Handler wasn't so interesting as Angelique had first assumed.
