Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Why Not? Empty Why Not?

Post by Marki Gordon Fri Sep 17, 2010 5:03 am

Marki strode down the corridors of Hogwarts, perfectly at ease. She was wearing blue skinny jeans and her grey sweater...backwards, with the hood under her chin. Why? Well.. why not? Why weren't her Converse sneakers the same color? For the same reason. She thought they looked better that way.

Her little frog Jeremiah was riding in her hood and he let out a small little croak of irritation. She grinned and did a little skip, and he let out another croak. "Oh, you grouch," she said. She continued walking, but found she was tiring of it.

She paused by an empty classroom which stood next to a window. She scooped up Jeremiah and put him on the sill of the window. She sighed and looked at him. "I'm bored Jeremiah... What do you mean I can't do a handstand?"

Now, Marki knew her frog could not talk; she was not that deluded. But she liked to hear herself talk, so she often held conversations with the little guy. "Fine. I'll prove it to you." She rubbed her hands and quickly flipped into a handstand, turning so she was not facing the wall, resting her legs against it. She felt her arms strain.

"What do you mean for a minute straight?! You didn't say that when I started!" She scowled in the direction of the windowsill.

Why Not? Empty Re: Why Not?

The empty classroom near the library was one of Lorcan's favirote haunts. Since his first year he used to take books from the library and go to the empty classroom to read it in silence. Lorcan loved the library, but it was just too noisy and crowded at times, like now. So he had chosen a book and left the library. As it was a weekend, Lorcan was not wearing the school uniform, but muggle clothes. His choice of clothes was dismayingly boring, today he was wearing a blue hoody with blue jeans. It was the same outfit he almost always wore.

Arriving at the empty classroom, he opened the door and entered. After closing the door behind him though, Lorcan found that the classroom was hardly empty. He would be terrified of course, if he had accidentally entered a classroom with a girl in it. But this girl wasn't even looking at him, and she hadn't even noticed his entrance, which probably had something to do with her talking to herself. "Umm what are you doing?" Lorcan asked curiously, referring to the headstand. "And who are you talking to?"

The hood had fallen over her shoulder, so it was not hindering her vision when the boy had entered the room. She grinned at him and opened her mouth, but stopped. "Say, does this look like I'm frowning?" She grinned wider, knowing that upside down it must look like a pretty deep frown.

She twisted and collapsed, landing on her arse and looking up at the boy. "I was just proving someone wrong." She stood and dusted herself off, walking over to the windowsill and picking up her frog. "See, that was at least a minute." She put him back on the windowsill and smirked at him. She grinned back at the boy and then cocked her head slightly, noticing the book. "Whatcha reading...Or well... Whatcha carrying?"

She, herself, liked to read, but that was hardly surprising. She was a girl of many hobbies, as she had a wide array of interests, but reading was one of her constants. Some of her favorite trips consisted into walking into muggle thrift stores and secondhand shops and randomly picking a dozen or so books to come home with her. Another thing about Marki; her whole life was random.

Lorcan watched the whole show with an uncertain look on his face, though he also smiled at the silliness of the girl. Upside down, it did look like she was frowning very deeply, and it was all quite amusing. "Umm well, yes I guess it does," Lorcan replied, chuckling. I was just proving someone wrong. Once again, the smile was replaced by a confused look as Lorcan opened his mouth, about to ask who exactly she was proving wrong. He closed it though when he saw the toad and, understanding, he frowned. Lorcan hoped this girl wasn't mad, mad meaning not quite sane. Still he was a bit surprised actually that even though the girl was quite weird, it was far easier to talk to her than talking to.. Lily Potter for example.

"Its a book about dragons," Lorcan said, looking down at the book. He had almost forgot he was carrying it. "For care of magical creatures homework..." It wasn't, really. He was going to read it for recreational reading, but didn't tell that to the girl. She would just think he was nerdy if he told her that and even though Lorcan didn't talk to many people, he always seemed to be worried about what people thought of him.

Marki watched him and could see the trace of confusion in his expression that most people had when they were in her presence. She was not the easiest girl to understand. Something about the way she... well did everything. The way she existed. It was just not something that was understood easily. It would help if she did not pretend to talk to her frog, that was for sure.

Still, there was a trace of amusement in his expression that caused Marki to cock her head and beam up at him. She stumbled to her feet, brushing herself off of dust and strode over to him, twisting to bring her nose inches away from the book he was carrying. He said something about dragons and she straightened up.

"Dragons? That's totally ace. Bombdigity for sure!" She grinned at him. Her odd vocabulary had never stuck her as such, and it was not that she tried to talk a certain way. When you watched as many 80s movies as she had, you could not help but pick up on the lingo. "Dragons are legit, it'd be stellar cool to train them or tame them or something."

Lorcan took an involuntary step back when she suddenly came close. He didn't like people to be too close to him, it felt uncomfortable. Raising an eyebrow at her vocabulary, he realized he had no idea what exactly those words meant, though he could guess. "Yeah they are," he agreed, nodding. Lorcan was obsessed with magical creatures, he usually visited the forbidden forest just to see some. Most seventh years didn't do that, which made Lorcan either quite brave or just very insensible. "You can't train or tame them though, they'd just kill you if you tried," he informed her in a matter of fact tone. That was also an odd quirk of his, when people said something wrong, he just had to correct it, even if it really served no point. "So what exactly are you doing here?" he asked curiously. She didn't have any books or bags, just her toad. For some reason, he hadn't noticed her clothing choice until now - her hood was worn the wrong way, though she seemed quite aware of that fact. Seeing that, Lorcan chuckled again.

Marki shrugged, untroubled by the fact that he had informed her of her misconception. "Yeah, well, it would still be rad to like try." She smirked to herself as her mind behind to spin, and before she knew it, she was spouting thoughts. "To like live among them, part of the dragon people or something!" She waved her arms widely, and bore her teeth, making a sound somewhat like a velociraptor.

She was sure he was about to correct her, but she did not mind too much. She was merely conjecturing, nothing more. He asked her what she was doing and she thrust her hands into the pockets of her sweater that were located in the small of her back, rocking back and forth. "Y'know, just hanging around, chillaxing. The usual." She shrugged. "Taking my toad for a walk, you could say." She grinned. "I bet I can read your mind." She held her hand out pointed towards his head. She closed her eyes and made herself look like she was concentrating. "You are here... to read?!" She dropped both her hands to her sides and grinned widely at him, opening her eyes.

Lorcan laughed again at how silly the girl was being. He was starting to like her, she was generally quite funny, though he had no idea what she was on about most of the time. "Whats your name?" he asked, suddenly realizing he didn't even know that. Lorcan had seen her around but hadn't ever talked to her. He knew she was in his house, though he did wonder how that happened. She didn't really seem like a Ravenclaw. He wasn't making assumptions or anything, or well maybe he was, but she didn't seem to really have those qualities that made a Ravenclaw - logic, cleverness etcetera.

"Oh, thats nice" Lorcan replied, looking back at the toad. They weren't a very popular pet around Hogwarts and were generally kept by 'weird people.' But then again, a Mimbulus Mimbletonia wasn't the most common "pet" either. That was what he kept, it had been given to him by one of his mothers friends, Neville, and he had loved it since recieving it - even though in most ways it wasn't really a pet. Lorcan raised an eyebrow again when she said she could read his mind, but then shrugged and decided to let it go. When she told him, he wasn't quite sure whether she was joking or being serious. "But.. thats not reading minds... That was just obvious," he said, rolling his eyes. "Seeing as all I have is a book."

Marki put her hands on her hips and widened her stance when he asked her name, looking towards the horizon. This was her superhero stance and she sure felt cool when she did it- though cool for Marki had a much different translation than what most people her age considered it. "Marki Gordon's the name, mischief and fun is the game." She smirked and thrust out a hand for him to shake.

When he commented on Jeremiah, she beamed at him. "Yes. It is nice!" She smiled at him. Most people did not think it was nice to have a frog. They usually thought it was weird, which was just as good a compliment as nice. When he said in that he was unconvinced by her ability to read minds, which she knew she did not have, she smirked at him. "Alright, I'll admit it, I'm a fraud!" She held up her hands like she had been apprehended. "That's it! My career! Ruined!" She flashed him an amused smile.
