Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Class Two - Basic Level Empty Class Two - Basic Level

Another day, another class. Professor McCoy had replaced professor Emof, who had work in the Ministry, not a long time ago. He liked teaching, especially Transfiguration. He had done some teaching jobs before, but Transfiguration was always his favorite. He wrote his name on the blackboard and sat on his desk, waiting for the students to arrive. He also waved his hand and wrote the title of today's lesson - FULL AND PARTIAL TRANSFORMATION.

Abbey walked into the classroom with her bag in hand and her books. "Good morning, Professor!" Abbey said cheerily.

''Miss Dawn, good morning. Today, I have planned a rather easy lesson for you. Full and Partial Transfiguration. It will be short and you will have a practice homework at the end of class.'', McCoy said.

(I am waiting until tomorrow morning in my place, meaning... the ones who are planning on coming have about 12 hours to post)

Abbey nodded, smiling, then sat down at a desk in the middle of the classroom.

"Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii, Abbey!" Sara squealed as she bounced into transfiguration.

"Ye'll toat's not guess what me dad sent all the way fr'm Paris this morn'in," she went on without missing a beat.

But even if Abbey wanted to guess, she didn't have the opportunity, because Sara was already telling her.

"Only the cu'est dress ye've ever seen! I 'aven't tried it on yet, but. It'd be 'orrible if it didn' fit. Oh, but I bet the seventh years could fix tha'. What've you bin doin'?"

Sara pulled the required transfiguration books from her satchel and dumped them on her desk, then followed with a bottle of nail polish - the same one she used in almost every class - and used the pile to rest her hand as she began to apply the varnish.

''Wow, a strong accent you have there, Miss Robbins. Now, the two of you will suffice. Lesson follows. Full Transfiguration, also called Correct Transfiguration, is the ability to fully transfigure something. It is, what we call, a successful transfiguration. When you point your wand at a box, for example, and try to transfigure it into a bird, for example, you utter a spell. If, as a result of that spell, you get a full bird, without any bird-like traits, you have managed to produce a Full Transfiguration.

Partial Transfiguration is different and can present itself in two forms. It is, what we call, an unsuccessful transfiguration, when one does not managed to transfigure an object fully. Now, let us say we want to return that bird back into the box. We utter a spell, but what is the result? There are two options, if we do not manage to succeed. Firstly, the box could have some bird-like traits, for example wings or a beak. That is the situation with, what I like to call, left-overs. The transfigured object still has some traits of the original object, but it also has some traits of itself. The second option is when we try that same spell but we get what? A bird shaped like a box. That is the type of partial transfiguration when the original objects stays the same, but takes the shape of the transfigured object.

And that concludes the lesson. Short but informative. For your homework, which is due to our next class, you will transfigure two objects of your desire into whatever you desire. One of them will be a full transfiguration, and the other a partial. Try it and then bring it to me on our next class. And to not try to cheat, I can easily check if the object had been hexed. Class dismissed.''
